Our good friends at Buckytown USA had an important note about Bucky and his band's upcoming party (er, concert) at Whisky River in Charlotte on the 18th; the doors open early-ish (5 pm) for this 18 and over show. It's his only home-state show for the rest of the year--definitely a must! There's also an occasional ticket contest happening for this one, so check out the Whisky River Twitter for updates.

In other live news, a sad note about the annual Sound and Speed event in Nashville--it's been canceled for 2011. Bucky's Nashville fans looked forward to greeting him and their NASCAR favorites every year at this event, but never fear--chances are excellent that we'll be seeing and hearing lots more of Bucky and company as the New Year gets going. (As Fran at Buckytown noted, this preview of some new publicity photos--and some very kind words from the photographer--is a hint of good times ahead, and Steve Cook's recent journal entries subtly underscore the point.)

Oh yep--we've been here before! Keepin' the faith and waiting for news--it's a familiar feeling for Bucky's loyal fans, but we sure have been rewarded with some excellent news time and again. 2011 is gonna be hot, y'all. You heard it here first...

Tuesday news: Bucky Covington's on the road again, and a review from Higher Rock...

Thanks to an extremely kind elf for passing some great news along; Bucky Covington (along with his upcoming second album) was the subject of some high praise at HigherRock.com, an inspirational site covering music, popular culture and more. Here's an excerpt:

On the new CD he’s got a full range of personality and expression. From the soulful sounds of "Hold A Woman" and a cover of the Commodores "Sail On" to the southern rock tempo of "I Always Said You’d Be Back" to "Mexicoma" with it’s South-of the Border feel this CD will not leave you with a void. When speaking of the song "Evel Knievel", a guitar rocking song, he says, "I couldn’t pass up cutting a song with that title".

Bucky’s nod to traditional country music could be heard in "Giants" which showcases the gratitude this generations singers feel towards greats such as Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Tammy Wynette, to name a few. Says Bucky, "going into my second album, I think it’s something I definitely understand and appreciate even more. You’ve got to pay heed to those who came before you".

We also love Bucky's "Gotta Be Somebody" video, which is still on the ballot at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown--as long as it's there, we'll be voting for it at full speed. (Feel free to join in by clicking that button on the left and having your say...ahem.) The last news we heard about Bucky's next single is that the label is considering a March release, presumably to make for a summertime hit. Not sure which song they're going with--lots of good stuff on the new CD to choose from!--but it'll be fun to find out in a few weeks.

In the meantime, the live scene is still in winter mode--Bucky and his band's next shows are happening in Atlanta, where they'll rock the house at Wild Bill's on Saturday, February 6th (tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster now) and in Birmingham, where Bucky and The Band Perry are the stars of 102 Five the Bull's St Jude's benefit concert at WorkPlay on February 9th (tickets on sale now at the WorkPlay box office).

The weather outside may be frightful (and it definitely caused a few concert cancellations this weekend...sigh), but Bucky Covington and his band performed an absolutely delightful version of one of his future hits, "Hold a Woman", this past New Year's Eve. Here's a quick update on Bucky Covington's upcoming concert stops; WYYZ in Hartford has officially pronounced their Country 92.3 Concert For Kids St Jude's benefit on February 1st sold out. Congrats to all who got a seat for that multi-star extravaganza! (We're not sure if the station will be giving away tickets, but it can't hurt to stay tuned...and to request Bucky while you're there.)

There's a little news about Bucky Covington's most recent video at CMT's Pure 12-Pack; "Gotta Be Somebody", which has indeed been retired from the ballot, made its final appearance on the countdown at a triumphant #4 for the week. Thanks for voting, y'all! Bucky's still very much in the running at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, so be sure to put in a good word for him daily--and feel free to recruit as many voters as you like. "Gotta Be Somebody" will be part of Bucky's upcoming new album, I'm Alright, and Judy Lang graciously shared word about another new tune, "Mamma Must be Prayin'", that was part of Saturday's live set at the LHS Country Showdown. Will it be on the new CD? We'll have to wait (oh, how I hate to type these words) a little while longer to find out, as the rumors of a fall--rather than spring--release date were confirmed with the latest revision of the album countdown widget at Bucky's official site. It'll be worth the long wait, from the sounds of things--Judy also mentioned that the crowd loved the old and the new songs in Kansas! Those who follow both Bucky Covington and Jimmy Wayne on Twitter had an enjoyable front-row (make that "front-keyboard") seat for a fun exchange between the two rising country stars. "Bucky Covington just called me showN his support 4 MMH!", Jimmy tweeted yesterday. "How cool is that! Show Bucky a whole lotta love y'all!" (MMH stands for Meet Me Halfway, Jimmy's solo walk halfway across America to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless and to raise funds for organizations that benefit homeless youth--visit the MMH page on his website to learn more.)

Bucky and Jimmy will be part of this year's Country 92.3's Concert For Kids St Jude's benefit on February 1 at the Cadillac Ranch in Southington, CT; tickets ($35) are on sale now, and there's a limit of six per customer. Joe Nichols is the headliner, and Williams Riley, Jessica Harp, and Blaine Larsen will be there to make musical magic for a great cause.

Another concert date popped up yesterday--looks like Bucky (and his fans) are in for a busy summer! He and his band will be performing at the Washington County Fair in Wyoming, RI on 8/13. Bucky Covington, "Use Somebody" (live video) and some notes on giving back...

Buckywild08 was there for Bucky Covington and his band's fantastic New Year's Eve show in Winston-Salem--many thanks to her for kindly capturing this performance of "Use Somebody" from that memorable night! Click here to find out when Bucky and company will rock a stage near you...

One of the many things we love about country music in general (and about being Bucky Covington fans in particular) is that there are always ample opportunities to give back! Many country stars will be part of Friday's Hope for Haiti telethon (CMT has a news post about the telethon today) and the young and passionate Idol fans of ONTD_AI have started a drive to raise funds for Haiti though UNICEF USA. So far, over $20,000 has been donated--awesome news, and the drive is still in progress...

Country music's ties with St. Jude's Children's Hospital run deep and strong--CountryCares.org has been updated with news and country star interviews and that Donate Now link on their front page comes with a surprise inside. There's a Fan Club Challenge goin' on, and we can give to St. Jude's in honor of Bucky.

Of course, benefit concerts are a time-honored way of giving back and having a good time while doing good. Bucky's recent show with Chris Young and Easton Corbin was spotlighted at All Access and at Country Aircheck yesterday; together, they helped WPOC raise over $5,000 for St. Jude's. We're a little short on hot news this so far today, y'all--however, last night's concert announcement was a biggie. (The Country 92.3 Concert For Kids benefit is happening on February 1, 2010, featuring Joe Nichols, Bucky Covington, Jimmy Wayne and a whole galaxy of country music stars. Tickets go on sale Thursday--be there if you can!)

Tonight's WPOC for Kids benefit concert at at Luckie's Tavern in Baltimore has an earlier-than-usual start time; the doors open at 4 pm, and Bucky Covington, Chris Young and Easton Corbin will get the music going at 5. Proceeds benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital--enjoy a stellar lineup, and support a great cause!

There's a new bit of interview video from last week's Sound and Speed event that's making waves--TrackChic.com posted this fun clip of Bucky and Josh Turner answering questions about their NASCAR fandom and the benefits (and challenges) of remaining humble when large crowds of people are screaming your name and singing your songs.

Terrific photos from last night's show at the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis are beginning to pop up. Danna Marie graciously shared lots of shots at TwitPic last night, as did Lisa22685, and with the large number of longtime fans in the audience, it's safe to bet that many rockin' memories will be shared soon. After tonight's performance, Bucky's next official stop is the LHS Country Showdown in Liberal, Kansas, a benefit for the LHS Boosters. Tickets are available locally at Crazy House in Garden City, and they're goin' fast...

Bucky Covington's concert tonight at the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis begins in just a few short hours, and we're hearing that last-minute tickets will be sold at the door--be there if you can! Those who are too far away can join the party via conference call, courtesy of Hildi and her helpers. The call will happen at about 8 pm local time; if you're a member of Bucky's official fan club, check the forum tonight for the exact time to call in. (Updated: the call is over, and word has it that the show was a blast. Thanks to Hildi and company!)

Speaking of fun, how about some good news from this week's GAC Top 20 Country Countdown? Bucky's bright and beautiful video for "Gotta Be Somebody" took a sweet leap from #12 last week to #8 this week--a round of applause for Bucky, his excellent and photogenic band, director Devin Pense and for all who voted! We've gotten it into the Top Ten at GAC...can we get it all the way to #1? We're taking aim--join in with a daily vote at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown and multiple votes at CMT's Pure 12-Pack, and be sure to pass those links along to as many country-loving friends as you can. Last but definitely not least, our "which of Bucky's new songs would sound best on the radio" survey ended today. There was a virtual tie until the last day and a half, but the sun-and-sand anthem "Mexicoma" surged ahead to win the poll, followed by the slow-and-sexy "Hold a Woman". (We think they'd both sound awesome on the radio--tough choice between two potential hits!) Here are the full results:

A little bit of Harley history: Bucky Covington and Rocky Covington greeted a record-setting crowd at Cox's Harley-Davidson in Asheboro last summer. Thanks to the very generous BuckWild08 for this terrific shot.

Updated: Bucky was among the many country stars at Country Weekly's 15th Anniversary party in Nashville last night; no photos yet (we'll keep lookin'), but Country Music Tattle Tale has a funny audio clip from Bucky about the recent changes on American Idol. Enjoy!

The kind folks at Buckytown USA have some more information about that recently-added April 17th concert date--looks like Bucky Covington and his band will play the Virginia Beach Bike Classic at the Northlanding Beach Campgrounds. This is technically an unconfirmed date, but it's looking extremely likely--keep it tuned to 97.3 The Eagle for more info. (Thanks also to Hildi for her help!)

Bucky's immediate concert stops include Friday's show at the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis--click here for a limited-time Indy ticket deal from Metromix--and a Saturday, 1/16 show with Chris Young and Easton Corbin at Luckie's Tavern in Baltimore, MD. The latter is the WPOC for Kids benefit for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and it's 21-and-over.

As of now, that 1/30 concert at 2nd Avenue Live isn't posted on the venue's site, but it's confirmed on Bucky's official tour page. When the ticket info hits the web, we'll have it for you here...
