A chart check, and new fall 2012 concert dates--see Bucky Covington live!

A mellow favorite to ease us into the weekend: here's Bucky Covington and Rocky Covington's crowd-pleasing "Seven Spanish Angels" duet, as captured in Jacksonville by the very generous . Enjoy!

Thanks to the very kind Hildi for her heads-up about new autumn concert dates posted at Bucky Covington's eOne Events page. Plan ahead and join the party! Here's the scoop:

On October 19th, Bucky and his band will play the Showplace Arena in Memphis, TN. (We're not sure which event Bucky will be gracing, but there's a calendar here that might show an update in a little while.) The following day, October 20th, head over to the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville to enjoy Bucky's live set at a truly historic venue. Ticket information for both concerts will no doubt turn up closer to showtime...what we do know right now for sure is that Bucky puts on an awesome live show, so save the dates!

Bucky's new single, "I Wanna Be That Feeling", is climbing the Music Row Country Breakout Chart at a steady pace--it's now #61, up from last week's #64. Bucky also shared a happy note on his official Facebook: "Good news on the radio front - I WANNA BE THAT FEELING is in the top 20 most added acts on the Music Row Chart - keep requesting and keep downloading the single!" Will do! (If you'd like to download it, too, click here to do so at iTunes...)

We'll be back Monday evening--please be sure to check out Fran's excellent Buckytown USA blog for updates on Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning. Be well, everyone...

Weekend preview: A Music Row chart check, and a little reminder...

Bucky Covington and Rocky Covington on stage in Dothan, Alabama; photo by the very kind Happydays. Thanks again!

First things first--it's fun to lead off with good news! Bucky Covington's beautiful new eOne single "I Wanna Be That Feeling" moved up to #64 (from last week's #68) on the Music Row Country Breakout Chart. The "unoffical official" release to radio is said to be happening in early March, but there's no time like the present to let your local country station know you love hearing it...

Here's a reminder about two very special upcoming shows: Bucky, Bo Bice, Ty Herndon, Carter's Chord, Mockingbird Sun and Katie Chance are the stars of the Autism Sings benefit concert at Margaritaville Nashville (322 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37201) on March 13th. Advance tickets are available online now, and auctions for an autographed guitar, meet and greets and front row seating are happening right now, too. Hope you can be there!

Weekend news: Bucky Covington at Stingray's (Maggie Valley NC) photos at Country's Chatter, and a chart check...

Many thanks to the very talented Diver for this dramatic live concert shot from Bucky Covington's Jacksonville Landing show.

Good news on this week's Music Row Country Breakout chart--Bucky Covington's new single, "I Wanna Be That Feeling", moved up a few notches to #68 from last week's #72. Word has it that the "unofficial" official (!) release date for Bucky's single is actually the first week in March...but please don't let that stop you from asking your local country station about it now.

We hear last night's rockin' live show at Coyote's Capone's was...must resist saying "a howl"...um, a blast (thanks to Country for the venue name correction--oops!), and the incredibly talented Country at Country's Chatter has some great photos now and the promise of a brand new, exclusive interview with Bucky to come very soon. Bookmark that site and stay tuned... (Updated Sunday am: the interview is posted here, and it's fantastic. Enjoy!)

For all who'd like to say hello to Bucky, Rocky and the band tonight (Friday), the party's just about to get started at Stingray's in Maggie Valley, NC. Fan video: Bucky Covington sings "I Wanna Be That Feeling" in Wentzville, and a chart check at Music Row...

Thanks to kayjudylang for one of the very first live videos of Bucky Covington and his band performing "I Wanna Be That Feeling"; this was taken in Wentzville, MO, and it's a blast. It's a quiet news day (again...sigh!) but Bucky did Tweet a reminder about his upcoming show at Capone's in Johnson City, TN on February 16th (buy tickets online right here), so we'll remind everyone about it, too.

And as for that chart check--good news at this week's Music Row online Weekly Chart Report, where Bucky's new single has moved up to the New On The Chart-Debuting This Week list. It's currently holding the #79 spot there--and if you haven't heard it on your local country radio station, feel free to call or eQuest Bucky this weekend!

We'll turn it over to our friend Fran at Buckytown USA, where you'll find excellent Bucky Covington news, photos and videos every Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning. See you Monday evening--have a great weekend, y'all!

It's official: Bucky Covington signs with eOne, new album due in 2012 (updated)

Bucky Covington on stage in Iowa; thanks again to the very generous Judy Lang for sharing her talents.

It's "officially official"! The good news we've been hearing about Bucky Covington's new label, eOne Music Nashville, has hit the mainstream press, and you'll find a terrific article about Bucky's signing--and a great interview with Bucky by Brian Mansfield--at USA Today's Idol Chatter this morning. Congrats again to Bucky!

Bucky's signing (and the release news about his upcoming second album) is making the media rounds this morning. All Access shared this quote from eOne VP Van Fletcher in their Net News section:

"From the first time I met Bucky a couple of years ago I've been very impressed with not only his great music but also his engaging personality and love of performing for Country music fans," said Entertainment One Music Group Vice President Van Fletcher. "We are really enjoying working with Bucky Covington and his management team on his sophomore release in 2012."

Bucky himself gave a sweet glimpse of his upcoming album to USAToday's Idol Chatter author Brian Mansfield:

"We got the album back from Disney," Bucky says, adding that "there was a handful of the album that I was not real happy with. … I was not feeling comfortable putting 'Bucky Covington' on the album, because they weren't necessarily my picks. They were good songs, no doubt about it, but I had other songs for me." So Bucky returned to the studio with producers Mark Miller and Dale Oliver to record new material to replace the songs he didn't like. "I am absolutely thrilled with the album that is now coming out, head over heels," he says "It's Bucky Covington through and through."

It looks like Bucky's new single, "I Wanna Be That Feeling", will be released to radio sometime after Christmas (shades of the post-Christmas gift of "A Different World"--ahh, Sirius memories) and the album should be out "three to four months " after the single hits the airwaves. Yep, I'm a happy camper, and I bet I'm not alone...new music!

If you'd like to hear some of Bucky's new songs--and some classic old favorites--live and loud, your next chance happens at Snorty Horse Saloon in Columbia, MO on October 8th. Tickets for this show are on sale now through the venue's site; they're $15 in advance and they're goin' fast! Bucky's full official tour schedule is right here, and our good buds at Buckytown USA have an informative concert sidebar you'll want to bookmark as well. More very soon!

Bucky Covington legal update: the rest of the story (charges dropped!)

Bucky Covington on stage at the Greeley Stampede in Greeley, Colorado; many thanks to Diver for the photo.

Just a very quick update on that grand theft story out of Ormond Beach a while back; we thought it sounded wacky, and it looks as though the Florida State Attorney General's office agrees. From Brian Mansfield's "Idol Chatter" blog at USA Today:
"The Florida State Attorney General's office has dismissed grand-theft charges against former American Idol finalist Bucky Covington stemming from an incident after a concert in Ormond Beach last month.

According to the State Attorney's office, "after a review of the information and evidence presented, the prosecutor determined that there was insufficient evidence to prove the charges against Mr. Covington beyond a reasonable doubt at trial."

Radio industry website AllAccess.com has a bit more background:

The victim, WILLIAM FULLER, even contacted MUSIC NEWS NASHVILLE CEO DAN HARR to tell his side of the story. HARR said, “I had a feeling this guy was out to try and blackmail BUCKY. He made all kinds of wild claims that just didn’t make sense, nor would he provide any evidence or substantiated facts to try and back up his claims. He wanted me to print a story on ‘his side’ based solely on what he was telling me during two separate telephone conversations. What I believe, based on what I’ve been told by a number of sources, is that FULLER over-extended himself in his promotion of the event and couldn’t pay his bills so he tried to use this allegation to get out of paying BUCKY for performing.” (Edited to add a link to Music News Nashville.)

Thanks to all who helped--justice has been served, and now we can get back to what we do best--applauding and cheering Bucky Covington, Rocky Covington, their hardworking family and friends and a truly awesome band as they tour the country making fans happy. The next stop on that adventure happens tomorrow during the Alpena County Fair (625 S 11th Ave in Alpena, MI ) for WATZ's Listener Appreciation Night. Hope you can be there! More soon--W

New concert dates: Bucky Covington at the Opry April 5th, Bakersfield May 18th...

A classic California concert memory: Bucky Covington and Rocky Covington sport hats and smiles at the Alameda County Fair in this awesome shot by our talented friend Minnie. Thanks again, Minnie! Bucky, Rocky and the band return to California for several shows this spring; click here for Bucky's tour dates at his official site.

Bucky Covington's Hometown Tour is heating things up from East to West and back again! Vallitix tweeted the news about Bucky' and his band's show in Bakersfield, CA on May 18th; it's happening at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, and tickets ($11.50 and $9.50) go on sale online at Vallitix on April 2nd.

The brilliant Buckytown USA blog posted news about Bucky's 's upcoming Grand Ole Opry performance--he'll grace the stage there on April 5th, and Fran's got details on a discount offer...

Bucky Covington in Merced, CA; thanks again to Minnie for her kindness.

And if you're in Nashville right now, you're in for a treat TODAY--Bucky is one of the many country and NASCAR stars scheduled to appear at the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Nashville's Superspeedway, a free event for season ticket holders. The Tennesseean posted details last night (great photo of Bucky, too), and the Speedway's site has info, as well.

Finally, a belated update on the chart progress of Bucky's "Hometown"--it moved down to #80 the week before last, back up to #79 on the latest Music Row Country Breakout Chart, and it'll be moving up higher still as we hit those request lines at our local country stations (ahem...)

While I'm in nagging mode, be sure to vote for Bucky at Country Weekly today and every day! More soon...have a great day, y'all.--W

Bucky Covington's "Hometown" hits the charts (via Buckytown, with thanks)

Bucky Covington performed "Hometown" in his new hometown of Nashville a while back--thanks again to the very kind for sharing this sweet video memory.

Huge news from our friends at the Buckytown USA blog today--Bucky Covington's soulful "Hometown" (from his first album, Bucky Covington), has hit the Music Row Country Breakout Chart! It's currently #78 after two weeks on the chart, up from #82 last week, and Fran reports that many smaller-market stations are on board. (Perhaps your local country station is among them? Why not give their request line a call and see...)

Fran's also got news from Happydays about Beau and Rocky's recent health woes (get better soon!) and an update on the newly-added 3/11 Olney, IL show at The Holiday. Bucky and his band's next concert stop is happening tonight, Saturday the 26th, when they'll play KP's Music Rodeo (1276 State Route 183, Troy, TN 38260) with Stormy Montana. Hope you'll be there! More soon--W

Bucky Covington's "A Father's Love" hits the Top 30 (and a new concert date hits the calendar...)

Bucky Covington's "A Father's Love (The Only Way He Knew How)" got the splashy-trade-ad treatment in last week's Billboard Country Update; this week, it broke into the Top 30 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. (Click the photo to hear Bucky's latest hit at his official MySpace.)

You knew it, I knew it, and it looks as though a lot of country radio listeners know it, as well--Bucky Covington's "A Father's Love (The Only Way He Knew How)" is an irresistible charmer of a song. It's been added to six new stations this week, and it's probably on your airwaves even as we speak. (If it isn't, check out our sidebar for a list of syndicated country radio shows and their request line info, or head to Bucky's official site for their good old station finder.)

Finding Bucky and his excellent band on a stage has never been easier...every summer since we started this blog way back in 2006 (yikes!), Bucky's been traveling and rocking crowds from coast to coast. Summer festival season is a blast, and while the semi-official kickoff of country music's summer fun is the CMA Fest in Nashville June 10-13--Bucky takes the stage at the Riverfront at about 2:15 pm on Friday the 11th--there are plenty of wild times ahead. And when we say "more new shows are being added all the time", we mean it--as I was writing this post, word came in that Bucky will be the musical guest at the opening ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games in Roanoke, VA on July 16th, according to WSET ABC-13. Seriously, y'all--bookmark Bucky's official site, and check the sidebar at Buckytown USA. You'll be glad you did...

We'll leave you with a bit of vintage video; in honor of Bucky's return to West Virginia this summer (he and his band perform at the WV Interstate Fair on July 17th), here's a fun rendition of "A Different World" from Bucky's stop at last year's WV State Fair. Many thanks to the very kind Shirley, who shared this on MySpace. Enjoy, and we'll see you soon!

With the holidays--and holiday music-heavy playlists--approaching soon, we'll be working against a bit of a headwind...but that's nothing we haven't faced before, yes? Give your favorite live local DJ a call this evening, or contact the syndicated star on the airwaves near you:

Another colorful and creative request banner by Bucky Wild--huge thanks to her for sharing this one!

The Billboard numbers are in--Bucky's new single is #57 on their Hot Country Songs chart for the second straight week, and #38 on the Country Indicator rankings. (The Country Aircheck adds list reveals that two new stations hopped on board this week. If yours is one of them, call 'em to say thanks and request Bucky again...)

Finally, more congratulations to Bucky--the rockin' music video for "Gotta Be Somebody" just made its debut on GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown at #20. You can see it on GAC TV Tuesday at 1:29 and 11:49 AM and again at 7:29 PM, or anytime at GAC.com. CMT's Pure 12-Pack is a must-vote, too--he's been #1 there for several weeks running. Bucky Covington's good Billboard news, and an trip to the ASCAP Country Music Awards (updated with red carpet video link)

Bucky Covington gives the audience a new perspective on "A Different World" at the Indiana State Fair; many thanks to the talented Buckaholic for this fun shot.

Bucky Covington's new release, "Gotta Be Somebody", [hear it at WBEE] winds up its official radio impact day with two good-news notes: it moves up to #49 on Billboard's Country Indicator chart this week (from its #53 debut), and it's the sixth-most-added country single of this week, according to Country Aircheck. (Thanks to a kind Anon for the Aircheck update.) Looks like it's off to a fine start!

Tonight was a special one at the Ryman for Bucky and his country-music contemporaries, as they gathered to honor the legendary JD Souther at the 47th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards in Nashville. According to the Society's press release: "Honorees and special guests in attendance included Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, Trace Adkins, Lee Ann Womack, Martina McBride, Keith Anderson, JD Souther, Jackson Browne, Rodney Crowell, Darryl Worley, Jason Michael Carroll, Love and Theft, David Nail, Eric Church, Bucky Covington, Heidi Newfield, Jimmy Webb, Chuck Wicks, Danny Gokey and Billy Currington. Tennessee Titans punter Craig Hentrich also attended." (Bucky became an ASCAP songwriter in 2007; we've always been fond of his songwriting side.) Here's hoping some wire photos pop up as soon as possible...

Updated: Heather Byrd of the Tennessean spoke with several of the stars on the red carpet at the Ryman tonight; click here for the video. (Bucky gives songwriters their props toward the end of the four and a half minute segment.)

Have a wonderful evening!

Bucky Covington's "I Want My Life Back"--big bullets are boss!

Image from a recent trade ad for Bucky Covington's "I Want My Life Back"; click to hear Bucky's latest hit at his official MySpace.

Could it be that after a long summer of chart turbulence and excellent live shows, Bucky Covington's "I Want My Life Back" is finding its home in the hearts (and ears) of radio listeners? Sure looks that way--the song starts the weekend with an impressive three-digit-bullet on the Mediabase charts today. (Yes!)

We'll have a full post for you here soon, but we had to celebrate the good news--huge thanks to you for letting your local station know you love this beautiful song. The official music video hasn't yet been made, but the one below is a stunningly-done unofficial concert montage by our extremely talented friend Buckymouse. Enjoy! News post next...
