It's official: Bucky Covington signs with eOne, new album due in 2012 (updated)

Bucky Covington on stage in Iowa; thanks again to the very generous Judy Lang for sharing her talents.

It's "officially official"! The good news we've been hearing about Bucky Covington's new label, eOne Music Nashville, has hit the mainstream press, and you'll find a terrific article about Bucky's signing--and a great interview with Bucky by Brian Mansfield--at USA Today's Idol Chatter this morning. Congrats again to Bucky!

Bucky's signing (and the release news about his upcoming second album) is making the media rounds this morning. All Access shared this quote from eOne VP Van Fletcher in their Net News section:

"From the first time I met Bucky a couple of years ago I've been very impressed with not only his great music but also his engaging personality and love of performing for Country music fans," said Entertainment One Music Group Vice President Van Fletcher. "We are really enjoying working with Bucky Covington and his management team on his sophomore release in 2012."

Bucky himself gave a sweet glimpse of his upcoming album to USAToday's Idol Chatter author Brian Mansfield:

"We got the album back from Disney," Bucky says, adding that "there was a handful of the album that I was not real happy with. … I was not feeling comfortable putting 'Bucky Covington' on the album, because they weren't necessarily my picks. They were good songs, no doubt about it, but I had other songs for me." So Bucky returned to the studio with producers Mark Miller and Dale Oliver to record new material to replace the songs he didn't like. "I am absolutely thrilled with the album that is now coming out, head over heels," he says "It's Bucky Covington through and through."

It looks like Bucky's new single, "I Wanna Be That Feeling", will be released to radio sometime after Christmas (shades of the post-Christmas gift of "A Different World"--ahh, Sirius memories) and the album should be out "three to four months " after the single hits the airwaves. Yep, I'm a happy camper, and I bet I'm not alone...new music!

If you'd like to hear some of Bucky's new songs--and some classic old favorites--live and loud, your next chance happens at Snorty Horse Saloon in Columbia, MO on October 8th. Tickets for this show are on sale now through the venue's site; they're $15 in advance and they're goin' fast! Bucky's full official tour schedule is right here, and our good buds at Buckytown USA have an informative concert sidebar you'll want to bookmark as well. More very soon!
