Why there's never been a better time to request Bucky Covington on the radio...

The very generous Moya caught this sunny video of Bucky Covington and his band performing "A Father's Love" in Muskegon; many thanks to her for sharing this at YouTube!

Some performers are blessed with terrific songs that capture a mood--and are such a perfect fit for the singer's talents and charms--that the song becomes a "perennial", one that pops up on the airwaves year after year to celebrate a holiday or commemorate an occasion. Bucky Covington's rendition of "A Father's Love" The Only Way He Knew How)" is just such a song, and there's never been a better time to request it at your local radio station than this week! Father's Day is June 19th. Bucky's fans love to hear his voice on the radio, and this week, we'll be hearing it often...

There's never been a better time to see Bucky, too! Besides the June concerts mentioned in our previous post, and the GAC "I'm American" TV special hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus (click here for airdates), Buckytown USA has a June 30th concert stop listed; looks like Bucky and his excellent band will be rockin' the folks at the Iron Horse Saloon [1068 North US1 in Ormond Beach, FL.] The fine folks at Buckytown will have more details on that one very soon, so be sure to check again...

Safe summer travels, everyone!

Bucky Covington on Young & Elder, Wed. morning at 8:12 Central (update)

Bucky Covington in Pleasanton, CA; photo by our good friend Minnie. Click the image to check out Bucky's current tour schedule.

Here's an update from Kix 106's Young & Elder:

Bucky Covington will be our guest tomorrow morning at 8:12. He'll be putting on the after concert at Memphis Motor Sports Park Saturday night. Then listen to win your tickets to the race and meet and greet passes to hang out with Bucky.

They're talking about the Kroger On Track for the Cure 250, of course--the race begins on Saturday at 2:30 pm, and Bucky's show happens immediately afterward. You can listen to the Young & Elder stream right here, and chances are good that Bucky's upcoming album, I'm Alright, and his future plans will be the topic of some lively discussion on the show. (Here's hoping you snag those tickets--Bucky and NASCAR in one day sounds like a classic recipe for a good time...)

Update: Bucky was on at about 8:20: he talked about his new house (on 80 acres), his love of off-roading, Rocky's switch from drums to percussion, his love of NASCAR, quitting smoking, his 5th Grader strategy and more. Look for a podcast later today.

More soon!--Winnie

Quick Saturday news: Bucky Covington at the Mountain State Forest Festival, "Gotta Be Somebody" preparing for takeoff, Country's Chatter and more...

The very gracious Jackie Blue captured this terrific photo of Bucky Covington on stage at his recent homecoming concert in Rockingham, NC; please click the image to check out his full concert schedule. Thanks, Jackie!

Kudos to a kind elf for passing this fun news along--Bucky Covington's new single, "Gotta Be Somebody" [listen to it at Headline Country now], has been heard all over the country in various songflights and challenges on stations like KNCI in Sacramento, KFGY in Santa Rosa, 93.7 K-Country in Ocala (some concert photos of Bucky, Jack Ingram and Chris Young from that recent acoustic show there are posted now--thanks!) and many more. The song should be popping up on the Mediabase "Taking Off" listings soon--looks like it's off to a great start!

Updated: Thanks to Redbird TX and a sweet elf for sending this gorgeous "Gotta Be Somebody" promo graphic created by the mega-talented Lisa/JudgeFL of BuckWild fame. Click the image to view it full size, and feel free to post it everywhere with her blessings. Thank you, Lisa!

More Rockingham memories are presented in fine style at the always-excellent Country's Chatter blog today, where Lisa P. shared her experience at Bucky's homecoming show with beautiful photos and informative commentary. Huge thanks to Lisa and Country for this must-read!

A must see for anyone near Elkins, WV today--Bucky and his band will rock the Mountain State Forest Festival tonight. It's happening at the Harper McNeeley Auditorium, and if you're thinking of a last minute Saturday night detour (recommended!) call 304-636-1824 for the latest information. Look for an October concert update here on Sunday, and check out Bucky's MySpace calendar, Buckytown USA's concert sidebar and Bucky's official tour page for his full fall-winter schedule...

You might catch a glimpse or two of Bucky on TV today, as well--the Greensboro audition episode of American Idol Rewind will air in most areas sometime today, so check local listings and/or LocateTV.com for time and channel. (The TV Guide Channel will replay it next week.)

Finally, by special request, here's Danna Marie's stunning video clip of Bucky and his band performing "Evel Knievel", a song from his upcoming second album, I'm Alright. (We hope this'll be a single someday, too!) Enjoy, and we'll see you soon--Winnie

A new show alert, and a pair of songfight wins...

Thanks to the very kind Buckwild08 for this great shot of Bucky Covington (with Rocky Covington on percussion at right) on stage in Rockingham, NC.

Bucky Covington's
new single "Gotta Be Somebody" [listen to the full studio version at Headline Country now] is officially impacting radio on the 19th, but it looks like the buzz has begun way ahead of schedule. It's won two more songfights as of Friday evening and it's very likely to make its way to your local country station's pick-or-flick or "new music challenge" segment very, very soon. Keep listening and be ready to give Bucky a round of applause by phone!

If you'd like to give him and his excellent band a round of applause in person, you've got an extra opportunity in November--WSSL is sponsoring a show in Greenville on 11/18. (The station's in South Carolina and the show's in North Carolina, according to the station's and Bucky's official websites, respectively. We'll try to get an exact venue location for you as the show date draws closer. Thanks to a kind elf for the heads-up.)

And here are a couple of random media tidbits to start off the weekend--Bucky stopped by Electric 102.7 in Charleston, WV and posed for a photo with Mike Scott a little while ago; and he's also mentioned in Rodney Ho's roundup of "most successful American Idol contestants of all time" at AJC.com. (Lots of spirited discussion is happening in the comments section--enjoy!)

WKML's "Top 5 at 6" and Bucky Covington's "Gotta Be Somebody": the tradition continues!

Bucky Covington on stage at the Iowa State Fair; many thanks to the gracious Judy Lang for the photo.

There's still time, y'all! If you're reading this before 5:30 pm Eastern or so, take a moment to zap an email to country @wkml.com and let our friend Larry K know you'd like to hear Bucky Covington's "Gotta Be Somebody" on WKML's "Top 5 at 6". At Bucky's official fan club boards, CaughtBucky shared good news about his new single popping up #5 on their nightly countdown yesterday. That hometown show energy must still be creating a lovely buzz! It'll be good practice for all that Top 20 video voting ahead of us, as well. Tune in via the WKML stream at 6 p.m. ET to see how Bucky's new hit fares in Fayetteville tonight. (Thanks to Diver for the kind heads-up.)

Also from Bucky's official website, word has it that there'll be a conference call from tonight's sold-out Ocala show, courtesy of the very kind Hildi and company. If you're a member there, log in for details now, or check back here later this evening--we'll try to share the info, too. (Huge thanks in advance to Hildi and her helpers!) See you soon--Winnie

Billboard update: Bucky Covington's "I Want My Life Back"...

Ducky Medlock and Bucky Covington share the stage in Winchcester, Virginia; photo by Happydays. Thanks again!

Thanks so much to Diver for this week's Billboard Hot Country Songs update; Bucky Covington's "I Want My Life Back" [hear Bucky's new single at his MySpace], along with much of the Top 35-ish zone, suffered a superstar polevault on the 7/4 charts. The good news is that the song only lost one spot, landing at #33 for the week, and we've still got some major momentum to work with. (So feel free to hit those request lines now and all weekend long!) Bucky's aiming for Top 30 status very soon, and that's an entirely doable thing when you factor in our help.

Got a couple of phone calls to make (ahem) but we'll see you later today--take care!--Winnie

Thre'll be lots of live smiles in the Lone Star State tonight--Bucky and company will rock the Glass Cactus in Grapevine (Dalls/Ft. Worth) Texas this evening for a sold-out show. The local number is 536-5156.

As of now, Bucky's official concert schedule is a work in progress (which isn't so unusual this early in the year) and there are bound to be plenty of changes and additions to the calendar. One thing we do know for sure is that he'll be very, very busy pleasing his fans from coast to coast and beyond. Stay tuned for links to the latest as more news develops...

Click here to see Bucky Covington's video, It's Good to Be Us, on CMT Loaded Chart news: "It's Good to Be Us" moves toward a full week in the Top 20 at #20 on both the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 charts. The nationally syndicated shows and your local airwaves could use a bit of Bucky's sunny single, so keep requesting!-And if your local station has hopped onboard since Bucky went Top 20, give them a sweet call or email and tell them you're enjoying hearing the song as you drive...

On the tube and around the net: Yesterday, the American Country Countdown newsletter spread the good news that Bucky would be a guest on this weekend's show (check Radiotime for stations) ; and last night, a kind commenter passed on another radio tidbit. "Bucky is also going to be on Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40 ...listen closely in the second hour, right around song #23! Happy radio listening this weekend." Thanks so much to our anonymous friend! Radiotime also has a list of stations airing Country Top 40, including streaming options; default time zone is central.)

We'll wrap things up with those perennial video voting links--watch Bucky's video at CMT, and vote for "It's Good to Be Us" at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, CMT's Top 20 Countdown and CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack. (Be sure to catch GAC's Top 20 Country Countown--this week on GAC-TV; Bucky's "It's Good to Be Us" took the #8 spot, and there's an interview snippet, too..)

More soon--enjoy your Saturday!

If you hit the link on her page with Bucky and JMC hit the MORE button also." Thanks so much to judgefl for the link! More soon--Winnie

Thursday news: Bucky and Jason in the spotlight at Lia, concert photos and more...

Bucky Covington and Shaun Bayles rock the house in this great shot by the very kind AmaTexMom, who shares more of her beautiful images from the recent KGRT-sponsored Las Cruces show at her site, BuckyFanPics. Thanks for capturing these classic shots, AmaTexMom! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music videos are available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered through his official site or via his official fan club.

We'll start off the morning with something fun to look forward to on Thursday night--Bucky Covington and Jason Michael Carroll are in the Artist Spotlight on Lia this evening. (We're guessing some inside Raisin' the Bar info might be on the menu, too.) Buckyflowers noticed the mention on Lia's page, and she adds: "Everybody listen in, call in, and write in. Her staff really follows up." Here's the number to keep handy for later today: 1-800-577-7LIA. Many thanks for the heads-up, Buckyflowers--we'll tune in!

Of course, the big opening show for the hottest tour of the season happens today--Raisin' the Bar, featuring Bucky Covington, Jason Michael Carroll and Cole Deggs & the Lonesome, begins with a bang at the Concrete Street Amphitheater in Corpus Christi, TX at 7 p.m.. You might be able to snag a last-minute spot at Ticketmaster.com, or check the local Ticketmaster locations and the venue box office at 800 Concrete Street. This is a general admission event; no outside chairs permitted, but they'll have a limited number of rental chairs available. Have a blast tonight and if you're going, please satisfy our curiosity and tell us all about it on Friday...

; and for more about Bucky, Don, Rocky, Shaun and Hans' travels this autumn, head on over to the Tour Info section in our sidebar, then make plans to see these guys live. You'll be glad you did!

And on the charts...well, remember that little stretch of time back in the spring when the number 33 kept popping up every morning for what seemed like a year? We've got a bit of deja-vu about this stretch of deja-vu; "It's Good to Be Us" is once again #36 on the Mediabase weighted chart and #34 on the Top 500. Keep requesting Bucky's latest tune on at your favorite local or streaming country station, vote for it on those local "Top X at X" hours, and later, feel free to mention that you saw the fantastic video on GAC tonight...

Bucky's new video is scheduled to be aired on GAC at about 9:08 p.m. ET; after that, it's fair game for a write-in vote on the GAC Top Twenty Country Countdown ballot. "It's Good to Be Us" is making its first appearance on CMT's Pure Country digital channel today, too--no scheduled airtime, but look for it on your set and on their 12-Pack Countdown ballot any time now.

We'll close for the time being with two links to some truly cool concert photos--are there ever too many? These terrific Las Vegas Birthday Breakfast photos come to us via the fine folks at StarPulse, and this beautiful gallery of State Theatre photos by professional photographer Jessica Cieply somehow escaped our notice back in August--they are stunning. Thanks and kudos to all of the talented people who've shared such evocative memories of Bucky's first tour.

Edited to add a link to RockyBucky's excellent photos from the San Diego show at AmericanIdol.com. (This has got to be one of the best Rocky Covington concert shots ever...)

More soon--have a wonderful Thursday!

Friday news: breakfast with Bucky, Bucky and Jason on GAC, chartgazing and more...

Bucky Covington strums with a flourish (top) and rocks out with Don Medlock and Shaun Bayles (scroll down) in these two fantastic photos from last weekend's Chillicothe show by the very kind Danna. Thanks so much for the beautiful shots, Danna! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video for "A Different World" is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

Bucky Covington's performance this morning at the KWNR Birthday Breakfast in the Railhead club at Boulder Station was a smash success, by all accounts. Bucky sang for (and chatted with) a standing room only crowd, including some who'd driven in from neighboring states to make the show. Huge thanks to KWNR for streaming a bit of the fun this morning--no word yet on whether any audio or photos will be available at the station's site, but we'll keep an ear out, just in case. Some very kind fans shared a play-by-play in our comments section and at Moosak--thanks so much, y'all!

(And since KWNR has given us such a handy-dandy segue, we'll continue the breakfast theme with a reminder about that exciting Denny's sweepstakes. How'd you like a VIP Country Music Experience to go with that Grand Slam? Click that link for details, and good luck--hope you'll be the fortunate fan introducing Bucky on stage...)

Bucky, Rocky, Shaun, Don and Hans will continue to rock the West this weekend--here's a look at tomorrow's event in sunny San Diego:

Thanks again, Danna!Be sure to hit our Tour Info section in the sidebar for all the information you'll need to make a great Bucky Covington show part of your live music plans this autumn...

Bucky's doing great on the radio, too--"It's Good to Be Us" moved up again to #35 on the Mediabase Top 500, and it's standing its ground at #39 on the weighted chart. Those bullets are getting bigger--great news--and they could be bigger still. Keep requesting "It's Good to Be Us" at your favorite local or streaming country station, and if you'll be listening to Lia, The Big Time with Whitney Allen , Danny Wright All Night or After Midnite this evening, give them a call and make a request. (It's always fun to make a request via AIM at After Midnite, too. Blair Garner's crew are incredibly nice people, and if they play Bucky for you, they'll say your screen name--no matter how silly--on the air. Give it a whirl and enjoy fifteen seconds of fame!)

We'll close with some hot-off-the-presses news from GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown--"Next week's episode will surely be one you don't want to miss as Bucky Covington and Jason Michael Carroll stop by for a visit." Get that popcorn ready!

Edited to add a link to Team Covington, where Kathy and her friend Leighanne have some truly sweet concert shots you'll love...

Have a great Friday--see you soon!

Bucky Covington and Jason Michael Carroll on After Midnite...

If you're doing the Wednesday evening/ Thursday morning night owl thing, turn on the radio now--Bucky and Jason are tonight's guests on After Midnite with Blair Garner. The show's in progress on the East Coast, and Jason and Bucky will be talking about their upcoming (and very hot) Raisin' the Bar tour shortly. Tune in and enjoy!

(Edited with a mini recap: Bucky and Jason's biggest news during the hour was that there's "talk of" extending the Raisin' the Bar tour after the first of the year with a few extra dates...nothing confirmed, but it does sound interesting, yes? Also, if you're out West and haven't heard this yet, keep an ear out for Bucky's surprisingly soulful couple of bars of Paula Abdul's enduring classic, "Straight Up". More later this morning--Winnie)

Bucky, Rocky, Shaun, Hans and Don and their delighted fans sure had fun at the Michigan State Fair last night--here's a beautifully enthusiastic recap by our friend Tara Leeanne, who got a chance to say hi to Bucky and Rocky and got a much-longed for photo with both of the Covington brothers! If you were there too, and you've got gorgeous photos to share, the good folks at 99.5 WYCD in Detroit would love to hear from you. The latest Billboard and Radio & Records charts are in, and Bucky Covington's staying power cannot be denied, y'all. (Talk about tenacious!) "A Different World" graces both the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Radio & Records/BDS country singles charts at #6 for the week, and Bucky's album keeps its strong steady Top 20 streak going with a #18 finish at Billboard's Top Country Albums. At Mediabase, Bucky's first hit single holds the #13 spot on the weighted chart and is #8 on the Top 500; and his next hit, "It's Good to Be Us", is causing a bit of a buzz even before its official September release. This morning, the new tune is #113 on the weighted chart and #109 on the Top 500, with WYCD in Detroit, WKML in Fayetteville, KSD in St. Louis and KDRK in Spokane hopping on board bright and early. (If you hear Bucky's new single on your local station, call them up and let them know you loved it--and leave a note in comments here and let us know all about it, too!)

And if you haven't heard it yet, keep your ears out and your local country radio station tuned in-- songfight and challenge time is nearly here. A friend reports that her local station's MySpace sends out bulletins and posts notices of upcoming "new song challenges"--if you're not a "friend" of your local country station's MySpace, add them now! (And be sure to add Bucky Covington's official MySpace, too--it's a fun way to keep up with what's going on as Bucky and the guys criss cross the country, and it's got one of the most happening-- and most commented-upon --blogs of any artist ever. Bucky and his label have created a very popular hangout--join the excitement!)

As a matter of fact, we'll wind things down with a link to the beautiful "concert reviews and photos" post at Bucky's MySpace blog, where there are some excellent shots of past performances posted already. "Friend" Bucky and add yours, soon!

Here's your opportunity to hear (and photograph) Bucky and the band tonight:

Sunday news: Us Magazine, State College memories and more...

Two requests for two great shots; Bucky Covington gazes out at the crowd in Verona, NY (top) and shares a laugh with Rocky Covington (scroll down) in these photos by the very kind Janie. You can enjoy more of her beautiful concert images here. Thanks, Janie! Bucky's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

Looking for some extra audio goodness today? Stop in at the Country Countdown USA site, where Bucky Covington and host Lon Helton are the smiling pair in the main photo. You'll find lots of fun audio clips from Bucky's guest hosting spot this weekend, available for download. Enjoy! (If you'd like to hear the whole show, check out the on-site station finder, or head over to Radiotime for a list of stations carrying Country Countdown USA.)

And while we're discussing media, here's a reminder about this weekend's CMT Insider--Bucky's visit with the talented young performers at Idol Camp was the subject of a truly endearing segment, and you can catch the list of rerun showtimes at CMT.com.

Bucky's Idol Camp gig was also a part of this week's print issue of US Magazine--look for him on page 10 of the August 20th edition, on newsstands now. The story is illustrated with a drop-dead adorable photo of some very delighted campers watching Bucky sing and perform. If you'd like a sneak peek at the story, click here for a gift from the very kind Buckyflowers, or head to the Bucky Truck Stop at Rawkhands, where Sunscreen and company have added lots of great updates you're going to love...

Last night's concert at the posh State Theatre in State College was a blast, by all accounts! There will probably be quite a few concert recaps by satisfied fans popping up online as the days roll on; a friend who was there reported that Bucky added Sawyer Brown's "Thank God for You" to the set, and it got a terrific reception. (Kathy at Team Covington mentioned this song as well, so it looks like future audiences have a new musical treat to look forward to.) Our friend also made a note of Rocky's charming turn as a cheerleader of sorts--the chants of "Bucky! Bucky!" leading up to the encore somehow got morphed into chants of "Rocky, Rocky!" along the way...

Yep, sounds like an awesome time was had by all! If you're in the Northeast, you've got a chance to catch Bucky, Don, Shaun, Rocky and Hans at the Bottle and Cork in Dewey Beach, Delaware tonight--this is a 21-and-over show, and tickets are available at Ticketmaster or at the door. Have fun! Bookmark the handy tour schedule at Bucky's official site, and you'll be ready to add some live Bucky Covington excitement to your late summer schedule, too.

Today's charts look a bit like yesterday's--"A Different World"is #6 on the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 rankings, with small negative numbers on both. We've been here before, y'all--we know what to do. Keep requesting "A Different World" at your favorite local and streaming country stations--even with the temporarily missing bullets, the wide open spaces a few spots upward are well worth aiming for! (Hey, the cost is clear, there's room at the top, and a phone call to your local country station is absolutely free...) And while we're in voting and requesting mode, a good word for Bucky's beautiful video is always in fashion at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown and CMT's Top Twenty Countdown.

We'll close for now with a link to an excellent profile of Bucky in the State College, PA Centre Daily; and if you're curious about what the folks at the UK-based Coquet-Shack site think of Bucky's pick for his next single, hop right over here and see...

More soon--have a great Sunday!
