Click the image to see Bucky and his band performing "I Want My Life Back" at the Jacksonville show, as captured by FLCathy. Thanks again, FLCathy and Diver! If you're enjoying the weekly countdowns on your local country radio station today, chances are you've had the pleasure of hearing
Bucky Covington's latest hit.
"I Want My Life Back" [hear Bucky Covington's new single at his MySpace] is currently at
#32 with a bullet on
Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, and #35 on today's Mediabase listings (up a notch from yesterday, with a bigger bullet, too.) What our newest readers may not know is that the
Top 30 mark is tremendously important--it means more stations playing Bucky's tune, more countdown time--and long-range, more hits mean many,
many more years of Bucky Covington on the road and on the radio. (We love the thought of that!)
Consider this a warm invitation to join us on the
request lines this coming week--whether you're a longtime reader or you're just dropping by to find out who sang that song you liked on the countdown today,
every phone call to your favorite local DJ means so much. (And
welcome!)
Steve Cook, Jeff Cease, Bucky Covington and Ducky Medlock rock the stage in Jacksonville; photo by the very kind Diver. Bucky and his band will be on the road for most of the summer, and the bus will be spending a great deal of time out West this year. Here's a quick repeat look at the rest of the June dates:
- Friday, June 26th is Country Night at Flaming Gorge Days in Green River, Wyoming; spend a true Western evening with Bucky Covington, the Lost Trailers and Luke Bryan. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate.
- The big Country Jam festival in Grand Junction, Colorado is always a good time, and Bucky and his band will rock the Jam's Main Stage on Saturday, June 27th at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are available online for this one--bring the RV and some high SPF sunblock, and make a weekend of it!
- On Sunday, June 28th, Bucky hits the Des Moines Water Works Park for 92.5 KJJY's Big Country Bash, and at only $27.50, this mini-festival is a fantastic deal. (Admission will be $45 at the gate, so snagging your ticket online ahead of time at IowaTix is your best bet.)
We'll have a rundown of the coming early July tour dates posted soon; for now, bookmark
Buckytown USA's concert sidebar and
Bucky Covington's official tour page for the latest news.
Finally, we'll top off this slow news day with a bit of audio we missed from last week--
Bucky talked to 99.5 WYCD's Dr. Don during CMA Fest, and he deftly handles a bit of ribbing with his usual good-natured wit. (We'd love to hear that "hunker down" tune someday...) Enjoy! Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there, and we'll see you soon--
