Thanks again to Judy Lang for this terrific shot of Rocky Covington and Bucky Covington on stage in Rockingham, NC last month. The week begins with news of a sold-out show in Rochester, NY--WBEE's "Guitars & Stars" benefit concert sold out 20 minutes after tickets went on sale, and with all these stars on the bill, it's no wonder! However, if you're still determined to enjoy Bucky Covington, Josh Turner, Kellie Pickler, Sara Evans, Phil Vassar, and Jimmy Wayne at the Dome Arena on 11/4, stay tuned to WBEE and listen for your chance to win your tickets. Good luck--that sounds like one amazing night of music! (We already feel like we won at WBEE this morning--they've got a handy player with the full studio version of Bucky's new single, "Gotta Be Somebody", in snaggable form below. Thanks to the station for posting it!)
Speaking of Bucky's new tune, it's popping up on more radio stations this week--if you've heard it on your favorite spot on the dial, feel free to let them know you loved it via their request line. It's very likely that stations who are sponsoring an upcoming Bucky Covington show--or those that have just sponsored one, like 97.3 K-Country in Ocala--are playing his latest now. In other areas, the song's still in songfight/challenge territory...the best bet, as always, is to listen close and be ready to give Bucky a boost. (While you're waiting, here's a kind move that's always in style--zap an email to country @wkml.com and let our friend Larry K know you'd like to hear "Gotta Be Somebody" on WKML's "Top 5 at 6"...)
Bucky Covington introduces Ducky Medlock to the audience at the Kitsap County Fair--thanks again to the very kind Lacypony for the photo.Hearing Bucky and his excellent band perform this one live is a treat, as well. Our October concert post is right here, and Bucky's fans in Ft. Myers, FL don't have long to wait at all. Friday, Bucky and labelmate Sarah Buxton are the stars of a free WWGR-sponsored show at Icabod's to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Bring canned goods to donate, and have a great time!
We'll wind it up for now with some fun footage from the Rockingham homecoming concert--this 7-minute-plus YouTube video is noteworthy, indeed. The incredibly talented Ducky Medlock gets the spotlight in this glimpse of the show by frogbear1971, who happens to be sibling. Many thanks to for the graciousness! And of course, if you haven't stopped by Buckytown USA for Fran and Renee's latest updates (including lots of photo links) hop over there now and enjoy.
More this evening--enjoy your Monday, everybody!
