Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Buckymania!

Bucky Covington (with Scott Saunders, at left) greets the Utah State Fair audience in this terrific concert shot by the very talented Judy Lang. Click the image to see Bucky's concert schedule at his official site, and click here to find out how you can spend New Year's Eve with Bucky and his band in Winston-Salem, NC.

Updated: There's a brand-new interview with Bucky Covington in the latest online edition of San Diego Entertainer Magazine. Anny H. Ruth asked Bucky some excellent questions, and the answers are intriguing, indeed. (Hope we'll be able to hear "Lamp Post" someday, Bucky...)

The halls are being decked, the season's growing jolly, the charts are pretty much on hold...yep, it's nearly Christmas! Bucky Covington and his band are officially on hiatus until the 29th, when they'll rock the Hard Rock Cafe Nashville; tickets are on sale now at Ticket Alternative.com. However, if you're in or near Music City, you can enjoy the early musical gift of a night with Medrock (featuring Ducky Medlock and Rocky Covington) at The Loading Zone, 2825 Smith Springs Road, tomorrow evening. Be there if you can!

A little souvenir from Christmas past--Rocky Covington and Bucky Covington wish you a merry one in this fun video from '07, via Bucky's official YouTube channel.

As for last-minute, no-shipping gifts for your favorite Bucky Covington fan...how about an official fan club membership and a digital EP? Live From Rockingham is available right now at Amazon and at iTunes, and it's a stocking stuffer full of hits-- live versions of "A Different World", "It's Good To Be Us" and "I’ll Walk"[fan video], his brand new single and the video for "Gotta Be Somebody", and the future hit "Mexicoma" [acoustic fan video here]. Membership in Bucky's fan club has its perks, too...meet and greet opportunities, merch discounts, all-access privileges at BuckyCovington.com and much more.

We'll be taking a little holiday hiatus here at Buckymania, but I'll still be on top of any breaking news; be sure to bookmark the Buckymania Twitter for the word on new concert dates and such. And of course (of course--yep, I'm shameless!) feel free to give Bucky the gift of applause for "Gotta Be Somebody" with votes at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown and CMT's Pure 12-Pack and requests at your local country radio station--at least until the all-carols stretch begins. We'll be back to full posting speed on Monday--have the merriest of Christmases and the happiest of holidays, everybody!

  9. ....also, the song is about Bucky's grandparents and how they met "under the lamp post" and kept returning to the lamp post thru the years. the tender moment is at the end when Buck looks over at his wife of 50 years (who was suffering from Alzheimers) and sees a smile on her face, and he knows that in her mind she is back at "the lamp post". it is a nice tribute to Buckys grandmother....she died earlier this year. yeah, Ducky is pretty excited about it.

  10. Scooter, thank you so much for the awesome news. What a lovely tribute that is to a long-term love story, and I'm gonna take the liberty of congratulating Ducky right now, even before I've had a chance to hear the song...

You know, what was really intriguing back when this whole thing first got rolling was finding so much good pre-Idol music and video by these guys online. Bucky, Ducky and Rocky are far more talented writers/musicians/performers than they get credit for, and I sure hope a lot more of their original songs make it to the stage and radio. Thanks again for the background on "Lamp Post", Scooter--hope I get to hear it live soon!
