Friday news: Bucky Covington in Virginia, a "Raisin' the Bar" reunion, chart check and more...

Bucky Covington (with Rocky Covington at left) on stage at the Hillsboro Fire Jam last week; thanks to Judy Lang for this striking concert photo.

Tonight's acoustic Bucky Covington show at Dave & Bob's BBQ in Winchester, Virginia is a chance to enjoy a very special evening of music--at only 200 seats, the venue's as intimate as can be. Call 540-678-0227 for more info on this one, and hurry. Congratulations to all the lucky fans who'll be there to hear Bucky and company close up!

The Grand Ole Opry is a slightly...well, grander experience, and this coming Tuesday's lineup might make those who caught that now-legendary Raisin' the Bar tour feel a little sentimental. Two-thirds of the "Platinum Cowboyz" will be gracing the Opry stage on August 11th--Bucky's former tourmate Jason Michael Carroll has been added to the bill, and you'll definitely want to be there for the party! Snag your seats online at Opry.com, or call 1-800-SEE-OPRY to order by phone. (That WEBFAN coupon code we mentioned yesterday is still in effect; mention it when ordering your tickets, and you'll get $3 off. ) If you can't make that midweek trip to Nashville (I feel your pain--sigh) you can listen in online at WSM Tuesday night. Satellite radio subscribers can enjoy the show on The Roadhouse on Sirius XM.

Bucky's MySpace calendar, Buckytown USA's concert sidebar and Bucky Covington's official tour page have all the latest concert schedule news--these guys put on a high-energy must-see show that'll light up your summer night.

Listening to the radio right now could pay off nicely, too--Bucky's current single, "I Want My Life Back", is likely to be on the air somewhere near you. If it isn't, please hop on your local country station's request line and vote on your neighborhood "Top X at X"--both moves can help change that situation! We're posting a bit too early for the Friday morning Mediabase published charts; when last we checked, it was #35 with the slenderest of bullets, but we're hoping for a much plumper bullet by the time you read this.

Finally, we've got a few days left to let GAC know we would have loved to vote for Bucky's "A Different World" on the Top 20 My First Time Countdown ballot--write them at gacnews@gactv.com, where they've asked for comments about first videos they might have missed. The survey ends on August 10th.

Our traditional weekend kickoff is both early and fresh--this one-minute clip of "American Friday Night" from Wednesday's Chemung County Fair concert just hit YouTube last night, and it's a short, sweet charmer. Thanks to loulizzy for posting it! Have a fab Friday, and we'll see you soon--Winnie
