Saturday morning wake up call: Bucky Covington's "Hold a Woman", and a mini-hiatus...

Bucky Covington

How about something sweet and soulful to ease you into your Saturday? This fantastic performance of "Hold a Woman" happened at the Intersection in Grand Rapids a few months back, and Danna Marie was there to enjoy Bucky Covington and his band that night. Thanks to her for capturing the evening so well!

Bucky Covington
is in the middle of a rockin' three-stop Western weekend; today, he and his band will play the big Country Jam USA festival in Grand Junction, Colorado at 3:00 pm. The Country Jam folks are very much into social networking; bookmarking their Twitter, their MySpace, their Facebook and their Flickr photostream might pay off in photos and souvenirs soon. That 92.5 KJJY Big Country Bash in Des Moines tomorrow may or may not be preceded by a Bucky Covington interview, but it's worth stopping in at the station's website on Sunday morning...

One of the most common online searches bringing new readers to Buckymania is--ahem--"Bucky Covington shirtless". I can't help you out with that, but a little bird told me that Country Weekly magazine can; their latest issue, on newsstands now, apparently has a photo feature on celebrity tattoos, and Bucky's "musical spur" is among those photographed for posterity. (I haven't seen the magazine yet, so I can't give the cover date or description--if you can, please leave a note in comments, and thanks!)

Bucky--and one of his more determined fans--also gets a mention in today's Independence, MO Examiner, where Ross Taylor, who is spending the summer as an intern with Mark Miller, talks about his CMA Fest adventures:

Ross spent a few days in Nashville, working the [CMA] Music Festival, where hundreds of thousands of music fans gather for the chance to meet their favorite entertainers.
"I met Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift and Montgomery-Gentry," said Ross, who spent much of the time working with up-and-coming former American Idol contender Bucky Covington.

"Here’s how crazy the fans are. There are thousands of fans lined up at the door, and when they open, they come crashing in. One woman broke her shoulder, but still got a ticket to meet Bucky and have her picture taken with him.

"She went to the hospital, got her shoulder looked at and came back in a sling. She told Bucky that nothing was going to keep her from meeting him. It was crazy."

(If that fan's reading this blog today--get well soon and be careful out there!)

Speaking of adventures, I'll be getting away for one of my own this weekend--and yes, I'll be requesting "I Want My Life Back" (#33 on the charts as of post time) from the boat, y'all. See you here again on Sunday, and please feel free to leave any updates, interesting links, etc. in comments; I'll try to post or Twitter any hot news if at all possible. Thanks and have a beautiful weekend, everyone!--Winnie
