It's an incredibly important question--and Bucky Covington would like an answer from
you. "You've heard 'A Different World' and 'It's Good to Be Us' on your radio--which song from
Bucky Covington would you like to hear on your radio next?"
Hop over to Bucky''s MySpace blog now and have your say--the poll's in progress. See you there!--

I'm so torn . . . Bible and the Belt and Hometown are my favorites and I'd love to hear either but I think I'll Walk could be a big hit for him, bigger than either of the two above, even though it's my least favorite on the CD. What I like isn't necessarily what plays well on radio.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'd have to go with Bible even though I think Hometown is gorgeous, but probably too different from what's getting play out there to make much of an impact. I think out of all of the songs on the CD, Bible and especially I'll Walk have the most potential to hit the penthouse.
Hi, Anon!
ReplyDeleteThat's the flipside of having so many strong songs on one CD--it really does make it difficult, and you're so right about the "radio friendliness" factor. Listening to the radio is a different experience than listening at home or in a live concert setting, and what grabs you on a CD might not be as catchy on air (and vice versa.)
Having said all that...I am on record as a big, big fan of "Bible and the Belt"--I just love that track, full stop--and I think "Hometown" has that "perennial" factor. Like "A Different World", I suspect it will have a long tail and a healthy life as a recurrent if it is released to radio.
I'm not one for tearjerker ballads in general (in part because they actually can make me cry if they catch me at just the right time--arrrgh.) But "I'll Walk" has a truly tender vocal by Bucky--a different sound than most people associate with him--and an emotional "hook" that would work well on the radio. Pretty easy to see why it's doing so well on the poll...
