Bucky Covington takes a sunlit stroll in this still from his new music video, now available at Yahoo Music .You can pre-order his debut CD at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT, or enjoy samples of four songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. Bucky is also featured in this week's edition of Country Weekly magazine, on newsstands now.
It seemed like a fairly quiet Sunday--until the new Mediabase charts were posted, revealing that Bucky's single, "A Different World", took a nice flight today. It's now listed at #34 on the Top 500 and number #35 on the weighted chart--and if you think a hop like that isn't going to get your local music director's attention, think again! Look for a lot of buzzing in the trade papers come Tuesday or so--and a lot of adds all week long. (Want your station to be among them? Request Bucky--scroll down a bit to the "radio info" section of our sidebar to find out how to contact your favorite station, visit the Bucky Covington Fans MySpace blog to get updated links and tips, and check out our "Everything You Always Wanted to Know" article if the mechanics behind "good phones" intrigue you.)
But that's not all--we've got a brand new and beautiful video to request, as well! Along with the write-in option at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown, CMT's digital Pure Country channel features a fan-voted 12-Pack video countdown. (Remember, there's no need to spam--we're supporting a quality song! Once a day or so is fine, and since both ballots encourage voters to pick several videos, voting for Bucky and a few other beloved artists is fine, too.)
In the midst of all this activity--all the radio requesting and video voting and tackling travel plans for the Grand Ole Opry on March 9th (yes, I'm still a little blissed-out about that, thank you very much)--it's easy to lose track of something fairly significant.
So if you have a moment, I have a request for you. Grab your best headphones, cue up the audio version of "A Different World" at CMT, or the video version at Yahoo Music, and really listen. You don't even have to go as far back as "no seatbelts in cars" to get very sentimental listening to this song; if you're a Bucky Covington fan, you only have to go back a year or so, when Bucky would have been rehearsing for his "Simple Man" performance. Think of then, and think of now, and it's a very "different world" indeed.
What dreams are you dreaming today, and where do you think you and your dreams will be a year from now? Bucky's spoken of karma often, and when you consider the kind of karma you create when you help someone else make their dreams come true, you might be very pleasantly surprised at what a "different world" you might be living in next year--or sooner.
Just something to think about when you're making those requests, y'all.
News post next--come on back!
I hear violins! ;)
