Weekend preview: "Drinking Side of Country" hits Music Row, People Magazine perks, Bucky Covington's release date news and more...

Bucky Covington on stage at the Asparagus Festival in Stockton, CA--many thanks to our talented friend Minnie for the photo.

Good news to report on the chart front:  "Drinking Side of Country"Bucky Covington's rockin' single featuring the awesome Shooter Jennings, has entered the Music Row Country Breakout Chart at lucky #77.  Congratulations!  Celebrate with a vote for (or two, or more) for the video at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, CMT Pure's Pure 12 Pack and CMT's Top 20 Countdown, and call in a request at your local country radio station...

We're counting down the days until Bucky's second album, Good Guys, hits the stores.  It's happening this coming Tuesday, September 11th, and it looks as though Bucky will be commemorating the day in a very significant way.  He spoke to the York Dispatch's Mark Franklin for an excellent long interview posted at the newspaper's Idol Chatter blog about his connection with Help The Good Guys :
"So if I was going to do charity work, I decided I wanted to be more involved, more hands on. So I hooked up with a guy named Mickey Milam with an organization called Help the Good Guys. Now what Help the Good Guys is, we raise awareness and immediate financial relief for firefighters who have been injured in the line of duty and their families.

"These guys were making the right decision going into a burning building helping someone or something, they get burned up, and they can’t pay the mortgage. They’re losing their home for making the right decision, and I thought that was just absolute crap. It’s a great organization. We got to conventions all over the place. I’ll be going to New York on 9/11 to do a big thing with the firefighters."

As for what that "big thing" might be--stay tuned! There's still time to pre-order Bucky's new CD at Amazon, iTunesBucky's official site, and at the store right now. Bucky's next HTGG event is coming up on September 23rd at Cousler Park in Manchester Township, PA, where he, the Manchester Township career firefighters, Help The Good Guys and Kayla Kroh will raise funds for  the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  The event's Facebook page has all the details and updates--hope you'll be there! (Thanks to the very kind Hildi for the York Dispatch link.)

Bucky's Facebook was updated today with a special announcement for those of us who love People Magazine's  Country issues: "Pick up a copy of the special edition of People Magazine (the Country Edition) for a code to get DRINKING SIDE OF COUNTRY for FREE via iTunes!
".  Yep, we know most of us have got it already...but it's a safe bet that there's a friend of yours who needs to know just how much fun Bucky's new music can be. (One of Bucky's Facebook friends, Janie,  says he's in the magazine too--we're on the way to the newsstand to find out soon!)

And while you're at it, take that friend along to one of Bucky's live shows!  He and his band will rock the grandstand tomorrow (Saturday) at the Russell County Fair in Castlewood, VA.   For a full list of Bucky's concert dates, bookmark his calendar at eOne and check the sidebar at the excellent Buckytown USA blog, where the fantastic Fran keeps us all up to date every Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning.  We'll see you here on Monday night--have a beautiful weekend!
