We've got an unconfirmed (for now) but highly likely concert date to add to Bucky Covington's already busy tour schedule--word has it he and his band will be rocking the Buffalo Bar in St. Joseph, MO on September 18th. (Looks like this venue might not have a website; however, they do have a MySpace, and there's an excellent chance that Q Country 92.7 will have more details for us if and when this one falls into the "confirmed" category. Keep listening...) Update: It's confirmed! Call Buffalo Bar at 387-9797 or Biggin’s at 232-4450 for ticket info.

Speaking of listening to the radio, Bucky's beautiful "A Father's Love" has gone recurrent--but y'all know by now that that's no reason to let our local request lines cool off. Bucky's voice on the radio is always a good thing--whether we're asking for his most recent single or a Covington "golden oldie" (feels funny to say that, doesn't it?), it's smart to make sure the DJs in our respective backyards know how much we enjoy hearing him on the airwaves.

What's the next single? No official word yet from Disney, but we're with Fran and company at Buckytown in our hopes that it's released soon. (And hey, while I'm being demanding--how about a nice big budget music video for the next hit-to-be? Can't hurt, especially with Bucky's album--the much-anticipated I'm Alright--due out in September. A hit song and a hit video will help set the stage for a strong first week.) Bottom line--we'd love to see him in the Top Ten (or Top Five, or Top One) with his autumn single. And while we audience members don't make the big decisions, the steps we can take--making requests, getting the word-of-mouth buzz going, and packing the house at Bucky's live shows--mean a lot in the long run.

Meanwhile, as the summer tour unwinds, we'll miss guitarist and truly cool guy Jeff Cease, who parted ways with Bucky's band earlier this month. (Many thanks to Jeff for being Jeff!) Bucky's next show happens on Saturday at the Cambrose Exhibition Centre in Alberta, Canada, where he'll be among the performers at the Big Valley Jamboree. Tickets, day passes, camping details and more are available at Ticketmaster--hope you can be there. More later!
