Breaking news from Nashville (via Country Aircheck)

Thanks to Happydays for this great shot of Bucky Covington on stage in Biloxi, MS.

Just in: Bucky Covington's former labelmates Rascal Flatts have been signed to Big Machine Records, as announced in Nashville earlier today. Here's a quote from RF's Joe Don Rooney, via Country Aircheck: "We want to tip our hats to Lyric Street and everyone in the Disney family. This is a new day for us and we are very excited."

Country Aircheck also notes that Lyric Street's operations are in the final stages of winding down: "With the departure of Flatts and the recent transition of the Kevin Fowler single to the BPG promotion team, the remaining Lyric Street promotion team is left with no active records. Disney human resources staffers are said to be in Nashville today working out severance packages."

As of now, it looks as though Bucky, Kevin Fowler and Tyler Dickerson are the sole remaining country artists in the Disney/Hollywood Records lineup. We'll post any further developments as they happen--stay tuned!
