Bucky Covington (with Rocky Covington on percussion at right) on stage at the Hillsboro Fire Jam this summer; thanks to the very talented Judy Lang for capturing the moment.Bucky Covington and his band are ready to rock the Utah State Fair tonight at 7:30 pm local time; last minute fair-goers can buy tickets online and print them up at home. If your schedule's flexible, getting out there for all the fun is highly recommended! Tonight's show is an early start to a busy weekend, which includes a rowdy set at the Y108 Thrillbilly Bash in Pittsburgh (see our previous post for details) and a very recently added opening spot for legends ZZ Top in Reading on Sunday.
If it seems like Bucky's already-packed fall concert schedule is growing every other day, it's not just your imagination! Besides that surprise Reading show, he's set to do a special free benefit homecoming show in Rockingham, NC on Sept 26th, he'll perform at the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio on October 16th, and he's been added to the lineup of the Jacksonville Fair on November 10th. (And that's just what's been added in the past week or so!) Those who didn't get a chance to catch Bucky and his band this summer will definitely want to bookmark Bucky's MySpace calendar, Buckytown USA's concert sidebar and Bucky's official tour page--and if you have seen and heard the show lately, you'll want to bookmark those links and get ready for a rockin' encore...
Bucky Covington shakes hand with the audience at the Fire Jam in this terrific concert shot by Judy Lang--thanks again!Speaking of encores, a couple of request for links to Tony Thomas' KMPS Test Track snippet of Bucky's excellent "Gotta Be Somebody" came over the wire--there you are, and enjoy! Our current poll question is all about test tracks and pick-or-flicks; they're a fun way to get a preview of hot new songs. If your local country station has them, keep an ear out for new music from Bucky's upcoming second album, which is currently slated for a November 3rd release. (Like everything else in the wild and wonderful music biz, that date is "subject to change"--we'll try to keep you posted as best we can.)
What isn't at all subject to change is the joy of hearing Bucky on the radio! Whether it's a test track, an "oldie" or his beautiful "I Want My Life Back", showing Bucky some request-line affection is always in style. (The weather may be getting cooler, but we'll keep the phone lines hot...)
Finally, a little fun from the fine folks at the It's Good to Be Us blog--enjoy a photo of the lovely Terra Covington and "Rocky" unlike any other you've seen before...
Updated: Yep, the long-unofficially discussed cat is officially out of the bag--thanks to a kind Anon for the link! Bucky's new single, "Gotta Be Somebody", will be released to radio on September 28th. Come on into comments and let's talk...
More later--enjoy your Thursday!
