First look at Sunday--a review from Utah and a one of a kind guitar to win...

Bucky Covington enjoys a soulful moment on stage in Indianapolis at the Murat Theatre; photo by the very kind Danna, who shares more shots from the night in her beautiful Photobucket gallery. Thanks again, Danna!

Sunday begins with this unabashedly positive review of last night's Throttle Wide Open show in Utah from the Deseret News. Carma Wadley reports that Bucky Covington, Lee Brice and headliner Dierks Bentley rocked the E Center in style, noting that Bucky sang with "passion and panache" and calling him an "energetic crowd-pleaser". (We're hoping some concert photos will turn up at local stations KBUL and KSOP soon--bookmark those pages and check back often...)

Bucky, Dierks and Luke Bryan's next stop is the Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on April 30th; tickets are available at GetTix.net. (For more information on Bucky's tour--including meet and greet options--pop into his official site now.)

You probably won't get to play this next item on stage with Bucky and his excellent band, but it's safe to bet you will want to treasure it if you're the winner! AmericanIdol.com is celebrating the success of Bucky Covington, Phil Stacey and Josh Gracin by giving away a guitar signed by all three gentlemen, and you can enter to win it right here. One entry per person, and the contest ends on May 21st. Good luck!

Short but sweet--and great quality, too. Enjoy a minute of Bucky Covington and his band performing a very energetic "It's Good to Be Us" at the Longbranch Saloon in Raleigh last fall; video by the very kind vbrinkley08. Thanks for posting this one!

Bucky's upcoming single, "I'll Walk", is #68 with a bullet on the Mediabase weighted chart this morning as its pre-release climb continues--look for more movement this week as the "pick or flick" and test-drive segments begin again on Monday. (Will the song hit Top 50 before its official release date? Hmmm...)

Click here to vote for Bucky at GAC.comWe'll top off the morning for now with some quick reminders--"It's Good to Be Us" is still on the menu at GAC Top 20 Country Countdown, and we'll keep voting for it as long as they'll let us! At CMT.com, a CMA Fest sweepstakes awaits; enter to win an "ultimate country music fan experience" including airfare, passes and more. (If you'd rather not leave it to chance, head over to Ticketmaster, where single-night tickets are on sale. Bucky, Sara Evans, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dwight Yoakam, Randy Travis and James Otto will take the stage on June 8, and that will be a night to remember! More information is available at www.CMAfest.com.)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Where is Santa Ana? The tour schedule says the next show is in Rio Rancho, NM.

  2. Bad writing on my part, my apologies! (Pre-coffee posting is never a good idea.) The venue is called the Santa Ana Star Center, but it is indeed in Rio Rancho, NM. I'll clarify that on the post, and thanks--NM folks, please forgive me, didn't mean to offend! :)

How come you keep saying that I'll Walk is unreleased? If radio's playing it, doesn't that make it released? Didn't somebody say it was the top download by radio at the distribution service? What's the big deal about an add date anyway?

  4. Hello again, Anon!

Honestly, as far as I'm concerned, it's released--by now, with no official add date posted, it's safe to assume that it's "Going for Adds" even though it hasn't been listed as such at Radio & Records just yet.

From what I can gather from my extremely limited radio knowledge (we do have some radio pros who stop by--they can probably explain it better than I ;) "add dates" seem more ceremonial these days than anything else. So if we don't get an announced date this week, I'll drop the "unreleased" tag within the next few days. For now I am enjoying the perception that stations couldn't wait to hop on it early and it's moving up the charts ahead of schedule. I'm quirky that way. :) As in all things, mileage may vary...

    Thanks for stopping in!

The sad news: IG2BU officially went recurrent this afternoon on Mediabase weighted and Top 500.

The good news: I'll Walk jumped up 5 spots to #63 , weighted, and to #64 , Top 500!! Love those Sunday afternoon delights!! bf

The big deal about an ad date, in my opinion, is that date is when the song will start to have the number of weeks released by it. This is important on the R&R Chart as well as Billboard that display this weekly along with the chart rank of the song. Ideally, you would like a song to be as high in the charts as possible prior to being officially released. The maturation rate of a song can sometimes dictate its longevity on the charts.

  7. BF and Anon 4:17, hello! Anon, I appreciate the explanation--it makes a lot of sense, and thanks for the info. Here's hoping "I'll Walk" is on track to be nicely situated upon its official release date, whenever that is.

And BF, thanks for the update--five spots today is a nice way to wrap up the weekend!

Does anyone know how IG2BU or ADW had done prior to their official release dates? Just wondering if this is a good start comparatively for IW.

IG2BU debuted 9/9/07 showing it at #62 the week before and #52 that day. It entered the top 30 about 2 and 1/2 months after being released. ADW entered the Top 30 about 2 months after it was released. I cannot find pre-top 30 info on ADW.

  10. Anon 7:47, thanks for that info--I was curious, too! Sounds like "I'll Walk" is doing well in the pre-release sweepstakes so far...it'll be interesting to compare.
