Bucky Covington in concert last fall; photo by our talented friend Midask9, Thanks again! Hello to the many first-time readers who've stopped by after Bucky Covington's appearance on last night's American Idol results show--we're hoping Ramiele Malubay, who left the show Wednesday evening, takes Bucky's wise words to heart. As what follows makes clear, even those who don't win on Idol can make the most of a brilliant opportunity, with some hard work, talent, drive and a little good luck/karma/blessings...
Catching up with Bucky Covington? If you've got a lot of time, head over to the Archives section in our sidebar, pack a lunch and linger a while--Buckymania has been operating since Bucky made the Top 12 in the 2006 American Idol finals, and he's kept us pretty busy ever since! Here's the short version of Bucky's post-Idol career highlights:
Bucky was signed to Lyric Street Records in Nashville in late 2006; the signing was announced on New Year's Day, 2007, and his first single, "A Different World", was released in mid-January of that year. It went on to reach the Top 5 on the Mediabase country singles charts, and hit #6 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. Bucky Covington, his first album, was released to positive reviews in April 2007, and it entered the Billboard Top Country Albums chart at #1. His current hit, "It's Good to Be Us" is his second Top Ten tune on the country charts, and you can see the music video for the song at CMT.com.

Bucky's been a busy touring artist since December of 2006, when he joined an all-star lineup for the GAC Country Music Christmas Tour. Country fans from coast-to-coast got to know him better all spring and summer of 2007 when he toured in support of his album, and in the fall of 2007, he made a big splash co-headlining a hot small-venue tour with fellow rising country star Jason Michael Carroll and special guests Cole Deggs and the Lonesome. You can catch him on tour right now with country star Dierks Bentley and fellow hitmaking newcomer Luke Bryan. Click here for Bucky's current tour schedule as posted at his official MySpace, and be sure to be there when the Throttle Wide Open tour comes to your town--he is an incredible live performer!
Other honors Bucky's enjoyed in recent months include being chosen as one of Clear Channel's New! Discover Music Best of 2007 Top Five Artists, and being named one of five selected performers for 2008's New Faces Of Country Music show at the annual Country Radio Seminar.
Finally, this year marks Bucky's first major country award nomination--the video for his first single, "A Different World", has been nominated for the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year "belt buckle" in the 2008 CMT Music Awards. As with American Idol, these awards are fan voted--if you'd like to give an "old friend" from Idol a hand, please feel free to join us! Register at CMT (this only takes a few monents, and all you'll need is a valid email address) vote for Bucky, and pass along the word. Voting ends on April 11th, and the awards show airs on CMT on April 14th. If you liked Bucky as a talented Top Ten Idol, you'll love him as a CMT winner. Thanks for stopping in!More later this morning--Winnie
