Tuesday news: CMT Power Picks today, and some random photo goodness (updated)

Bucky Covington on stage at the Trocaderos in Minneapolis last week; another great shot by our generous friend Janie. Click here for more of her brand new and beautiful concert shots. (Thanks again, Janie!) Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music videos are available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his singles at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

First things first--Bucky Covington's brand new video is about to make its Power Picks debut! "It's Good to Be Us" is one of the contenders during today's CMT Power Picks video-challenge show. The program starts at noon ET, and Bucky's matchup will happen toward the end of the hour; click here to go directly to the Power Picks main page, hit the "Vote Now" button, and stand by to cast your vote for Bucky. It'd sure be fun to start his latest video off with a big, big win...

And of course, it's always nice to start the day off with some new-to-us photos, too. While we were digging for news, we found a few excellent concert shots out there; check out this great Flickr photoset from Bucky's KWNR Birthday Breakfast show in Las Vegas, this lone-but-lovely sunlit snap from the Big Spring Jam in Huntsville, and a few sweet images from the WGNA Countryfest sprinkled into a photoset by an exuberant Blake Lewis fan. Last but not at all least, here's a small set of photos by a talented photographer who happens to have a talented guitarist cousin. (They're posted on a photography board; sounds like Mr. B. was less than thrilled with them, but we think they're great...)

We'd like to thank a kind anonymous poster for sharing some good Mediabase news this morning: "Bucky is #30 on Top 500 chart on Mediabase, #32, weighted. First time IG2BU [breaks] into Top 30!!" Lookin' very good--congratulations to Bucky and to all of us who've been sharing his new one with our neighbors via radio requests! The most important show of support we can give right now is a call to our local country radio station with a request for "It's Good to Be Us"; calls seem to carry a bit more weight than emails (I'm not sure why, either), and a local listener's opinion means the most. If you're shy--and I sure can relate!--call up during an all-request workday, a "lunchtime cafe", or another time when you know they'll be expecting to hear from you.

Bucky's new tune is poised for takeoff, and we can be a big part of helping it get it up there where it belongs. So in addition to requesting "It's Good to Be Us" at those wonderful nationally syndicated country shows tonight (we love them!), voting for Bucky's video at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown and CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack, and checking off those boxes online for our local "Top X at X" ballots--we'll just call today "Telephone Tuesday". Think of that extra phone call as a pre-CMA, pre-birthday gift to our favorite rising country star...

And speaking of local country stations, if you're in the Cincinnati area, keep that radio on! Bill and Amanda from B105 have a blog of their own, and they mentioned that they'll be chatting with Bucky live from Nashville sometime this week in their "coming up" post yesterday. (For those of us who live out of town, there's a live streaming option--stay tuned, and keep an ear out for live remotes from Music City on your hometown station as the CMA Awards week celebrations continue.)

We'll close with that list of remaining dates for the exceedingly hot Raisin' the Bar tour, your chance to catch emerging stars Bucky Covington, Jason Michael Carroll and Cole Deggs & the Lonesome in an intimate setting on the same great night. After you've snagged your ticket, be sure to stop in and read Kathy's post at Team Covington; she's got a link to an article containing Bucky and Jason's interesting observations about life on the road.

Bucky, Rocky, Don, Shaun and Hans are a force to be reckoned with live--this year of heavy touring has honed them into a super-tight and stylish band that will leave you thoroughly rocked and refreshed. Be there!

nice job Cuz! you'll be a pro soon. I laughed about the shaking. I think the first shot every Buckaneer took of Bucky was fuzzy! It's the excitement plus he moves a lot.
The other bucket has the first smiling photo I've seen of Shaun. Nice one!
Top 30 today. Life is good! It looks like a traffic jam to the top though.
I'll be voting on CMT. Go Bucky!

  4. I think the second photo with the eyes closed absolutely worked. I tend to prefer the music shots be authentic in the moment and don't mind the eyes shut in those instances. And pogo I agree with you on the Shaun smiling photo. Loved that one. Great finds Winnie!!

  5. Hey there! Kathy, thanks--I am a big fan of those "lost in the music" shots too, eyes closed and all. Those are some very real moments captured on film--love the bright smiles and the intense expressions of artists doing what they love...

Pogo, you are so right about that fuzzy shot syndrome--we've all be there! The charts are looking much nicer this morning--I do thisnk Bucky's new tune is poised from some leaps in the weeks ahead.

And Anon 4:29, thanks! Posted your quote out front--your excitement says it all.

Giggling and waving hi at Anon 5:18--read that article at Kathy's. He might have been getting some much needed rest after all! :)

phoo phoo!!!! I was on Moo with 9 Buckaneers, Diver, Moon Janie, KGator, Martha, RockyBucky, Marzy, Misfit and on phone with Hildi who was on phone with Joy. So that is at least 13 people. We needed 20 or more!

  9. I know we had at least 20--I can tell from the outclicks here. We so tried, y'all! I think for a lot of people, noon just isn't doable--but never fear. Even with that noon airtime, we will definitely prevail. Keep the faith.

    Off to do some wrist-ercises...

    From Dave Berg's myspace:
"I have had the incredible fortune of being a co-writer on the 2007 CMA song of the year nominee "Stupid Boy" by Keith Urban, as well as Billboard's 2006 and ACM nominated country song of the year, "If You're Going Through Hell" by Rodney Atkins. Other Number 1's include Reba McEntire's "Somebody", Emerson Drive's "Moments", and most recently "These Are My People" by Rodney Atkins. I am also a co-writer on Blake Shelton's "Don't Make Me", Chris Cagle's "What Kind Of Gone" and Bucky Covington's "It's Good To Be Us".

  11. Dave Berg is indeed a very sought after, successful composer--thanks so much for the glimpse into his impressive body of work, Anon. Naturally we wish him all the best at the CMAs--and we're hoping he can add "It's Good to Be Us" to that list of #1 hits!
