Wednesday news: Power Picks today, concert videos and more

By multiple requests (y'all really liked this one!) Bucky Covington prepares to do some hip-shakin' on stage at the KNCI Country in the Park concert in Sacramento; photo by the very talented Minnie, who shares more of her beautiful images from the performance in this must-see Photobucket gallery. Thanks again, Minnie! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered through his official site or via his official fan club.

Bucky's video for "A Different World" will face a head-to-head challenge on today's CMT Power Picks, which begins at 12 noon ET; click here to go directly to the Power Picks main page. Bucky's matchup happens at the beginning of the show, so at noon, hit the "Vote Now" button, keep that voting window open and get ready to mouse-click away...(Thanks again to Laurianne for the reminder.)

Yep, we've got one of those quiet news mornings again--Bucky and company are still enjoying a break (they'll be back on stage Friday, at the Chowan County Regional Fairgrounds in Edenton, North Carolina) and the morning Mediabase charts are giving us a bit of deja vu, as well. "It's Good to Be Us" is once again #42 on the weighted listings and #40 on the Top 500 chart as of this moment--but check out the size of the bullets! Radio's definitely showing Bucky some love this week--you can show him some love, too, with (you guessed it) a request for "It's Good to Be Us" at your favorite local or streaming country station. There have been reports here and there of the song still popping up in songfights and challenges; between those and the local "Top X at X" features, there are plenty of ways to make your opinion count. WKML's "Top 5 at 6" is out-of-towner friendly and would love to hear from you, too; request Bucky's new tune by zapping them a note at country@wkml.com, then tune into the stream at 6 p.m. ET for the results.

And of course, a little lull is a great time to catch up on some beautiful concert videos. Lots of new clips have turned up on YouTube this week--check out these three from Bucky's Covington, VA show last Sunday, and this short but lovely clip from the Poage Landing Days concert in Ashland, KY. For a long and leisurely video break, stop in at the wonderfully-done Bucky Covington Channel at GoFish; Lisa does a fantastic job of archiving concert clips, and if you're interested in reliving your fun summer concert experience (or if you're curious about what Bucky's live shows are like) you're bound to find lots here that'll make you smile. Finally, make plans to pull over at the Bucky Truck Stop at Rawkhands, where Sunscreen's updates are always a delight...

More--including the October Concert Roundup--as soon as I can get this computer running at full speed again. Stay tuned and have a great Wednesday!

I'm from Nebraska and I called Uncle Ron's and the guy that answered said, "That information has not been released yet, but I can tell you that I have the contract on my desk and it does say the 28th." So...Woo Hoo! That will be so awesome. Lincoln on the 28th and Des Moines, Iowa on the 2nd. This just made my day. Rachel

  3. P.S.: Van Zant's video was the Power Pick today, at 60% or so--thanks to all who voted and clicked for a fine effort today. (Does anyone else miss the 3 p.m. Power Pick airtime? Think that was a lot easier for all of us...)
