Monday news: new videos, GAC Nights, chartgazing and more...

By request, Bucky Covington hits a heartfelt note during an appearance with Sawyer Brown at the DeKalb Cornfest last month; photo courtesy of the very kind Cindy, who enjoyed the show up close. Thanks, Cindy! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

Here's a very quick sweep of the news this morning:

Bucky's performance in Covington, VA yesterday was beautifully captured on tape by a talented videographer who posted her footage at Brightcove this morning. The link leads to "Hometown", but there seem to be other videos from the concert available--check the thumbnails below the main screen, and enjoy. Kudos to the generous concertgoer for sharing!

Bucky's also likely to be seen on this evening's edition of GAC Nights; as Kathy reported at Team Covington, the show is featuring a segment on the photo shoot for this year's glossy Chevy/Country Weekly 2008 calendar, and Bucky is one of the 12 country stars in the spotlight for 2008. (If you snagged one of last year's calendars, you know how beautiful the photography and presentation will be--this is a keeper!) Check out GAC Nights tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET or catch a repeat (airtimes here). Thank you, Kathy!

On the radio, Bucky's brand new tune "It's Good to Be Us" is just about to hit that Top 40 milestone. Doesn't get much closer than #41 on the both the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 charts, does it? Request "It's Good to Be Us" at your favorite local or streaming country station--and if you were able to see him live this weekend, you've got an extra bit of inspiration to make that call--you might just have plenty of local country music fans joining you on that request line. (Lucky you!) Monday means the return of song surveys and such, too--hit your local station's "Top X at X" ballot, and put in a good word for Bucky! And no matter where you live, you can show him some love at Fayetteville's WKML today with a request at country@wkml.com (online listeners welcome) . Hop into the stream for WMKL's "Top 5 at 6" tonight at 6 p.m. ET., and find out how "It's Good to Be Us" is doing near Bucky's own hometown...

The touring crew have a few days off; Bucky, Rocky, Shaun, Hans and Don will hit the stage again on September 21st in Edenton, NC. (See previous post for details.) The coming fall season will be very busy for Bucky and company--feel free to hop over to our "Tour Info" section on the sidebar, where our September Concert Roundup post and the tour page on Bucky's official site are linked; there's also a Ticketmaster.com link, a bit more about the October "Raisin' the Bar" dates, and a fun Gruvr map tracing the tour's zig-zags across the country. (Yes, we're trying to make it as easy as possible for you to catch Bucky and the band live in concert--and once you've heard them rock the house, you'll know why! You can thank me by email after your show...)

In the meantime, there's plenty of fun stuff happening online while we wait for the tour to get rolling again--the banner contest at Bucky's official MySpace blog ends tonight (head over there for details, and have fun) and a brand new, fan-run MySpace created by one of Rocky's many supporters made its debut this weekend. (This is an unofficial by fans/for fans destination, of course--Rocky's official home online is RockyCovington.com.)

There are some sweet new additions to the "concert photos and memories" post at Bucky's official MySpace, as well. Add Bucky Covington as a MySpace friend and join the party--it's one of the busiest and most active artist MySpaces online, and it's a whole lot of fun!

Once again, my apologies for the late post--thanks for bearing with my ongoing tech issues. Have a lovely Monday--see you very soon!

Not sure Rocky would appreciate yet another myspace created with people mistaking that it is his page with his thoughts and responses to emails etc.... Him and Terra have a page already on myspace. Just not sure creating this page even with a Fans on the end of the name is a good idea, but people will do it anyway.

  2. Hi Anonymous!

I am going to have to confess to some MySpace etiquette ignorance--I only got my own MySpace a few months ago, and I have no clue about protocol when it comes to fan sites as opposed to fan-run MySpaces. If you're still there, please help with a bit more info.

I think fan sites in general are a nice tribute to performers, as long as it's clear that it's not an official site (there's been a disclaimer at the bottom of every page of Buckymania since day one--I didn't want Fox to shut me down!), but I'm gathering from your comment that there has been some confusion when it comes to fan-run MySpaces.

Any MySpace experts out there, please help! Thanks...
