Wednesday News: Power Picks today and more...

Click to visit Mr. Clifton's gallery at Smugmug. Mike Clifton of Local Sports Online was on hand for Bucky Covington's concert at Wild Bill's in Atlanta in June, and his stunning gallery of shots from the show is an absolute must-see. Thanks again to Mr. Clifton for his incredible images--his contact info is available at the gallery link, and his beautiful work speaks for itself. Enjoy! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

Bucky's video for "A Different World" will face a head- to-head challenge on today's CMT Power Picks, which begins at 12 noon ET; click here to go directly to the Power Picks main page. Bucky's matchup will happen at mid-show--so at noon, hit the "Vote Now" button, keep that voting window open and get ready to mouse-click away...

(Edited with results--Bucky won today's Power Picks matchup over Tracy Lawrence's "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" with 51% of the vote. Congratulations to Bucky, and a big thank you to all who mouse-clicked!)

The tour resumes today with a big splash--Bucky, Rocky, Shaun, Don and Hans hit the Indiana State Fair at 6:30 p.m. for a Free Stage show sponsored by WFMS. As the site recommends, get there early for a good seat--and be sure to hit the WFMS booth while you're out and about. "Stick around after the show and you may be have a chance to get an autograph from one of the stars..." Worth a stop, I'd say! WFMS will also be doing live remotes from the fair, and you can catch the stream right here. Bucky will have a nice cheering section for this one, from the looks of things--there's already a thread devoted to this show at the CMT boards now, and it's a safe bet that his CMT fans will have lots of recaps and photos to share once the show is over. Stay tuned!

The fairs and festivals are pretty easy to navigate--the information seems to be plentiful and detailed--but there seems to be a bit of an info scramble when it comes to Bucky's upcoming nightclub and indoor shows. The Turning Stone show in Verona, New York and the Bottle and Cork blast in Dewey Beach this past weekend must have caused quite a commotion! If you're one of the many searching for more about Bucky's autumn concerts, come on back this evening--we'll have a full roundup for you in this spot with as many links, directions and details as we can find. In the meantime, check out the tour schedule at his official site, and get ready now for some hot musical times as the weather cools off...

Bucky's single is still hot at country radio; "A Different World" is hanging tough at #6 on the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 rankings, with no bullets. Keep requesting "A Different World" at your favorite local and streaming country stations--#5 (and a few spots above) are still very much in play, y'all. Remember those local "Top X at X" countdowns, call up those nationally syndicated country radio shows this evening, and give Bucky's beautiful video some love at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown and CMT's Top Twenty Countdown. Bucky's single already has legs for miles--what a great start to his long-running radio career!

Come on back later for our very first Concert Roundup and more of the day's news. See you soon--Winnie

Its seems as if the competition will continue. I know people will compare Kellie and Bucky come Sept. Kellie's new single goes for adds the very same day Bucky's new single does.

I know everyone hates to see ADW die out but the new single will be good for him. For one thing, it's a whole new round of promo on TV, radio etc. that will push album sales. Plus it allows casual listeners that might not be so into the more traditional country sound of ADW see that there's a different side to Bucky's music.

Never said the new single won't be good for Bucky. Just want to see ADW go as high as it can. Not like we can request G2BU yet anyway.

Whether ADW stops at 5/6 or gets a new set of legs and climbs higher, the song is a HUGE success :) :)

It is VERY Good to be Us :)

  8. Hey, all! Got stuck way out of twon on what I thought would be a simple errand (ha!) and am just getting in the door...

Anon, thanks! (Actually, I'll pass that on...thanks to Mr. Clifton for catching a perfect moment, and to Bucky for being so photogenic... :)

Anon 12:54, I have a feeling you may be right, but I sure hope people don't! It really is apples and oranges--in my mind, Kellie is in the "talented new lady country singers" group, along with Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, etc. Bucky is sort of in the "up and coming male country artists" category, with Jason Michael Carroll, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Jake Owen, etc. What's kind of cool about country as opposed to other genres is that Idol-alumna singers really seem to be taken more seriously as "new artists", period, rather than lumped into a special "Idols only" category. (I'm talking about the general country press, of course...Idol specific media, like USA Today's "Idol Chatter" blog will of course compare all of them.)

So in my usual longwinded way, I'm saying--no worries! Fingers crossed that the Idol horse race aspects are dying down--so many of us (including me) like both Kellie and Bucky...a lot. :)

Marzy, thanks for the Idol chatter update, and wow--that is steady indeed! Says a lot about the album--between word of mouth and the great concerts, it's doing a brisk summer business. Great news! :)

Anon 1:51, hi and yes, I do think Bucky's new single and the promo he'll be doing for it will indeed spike up album sales nicely! "A Different World" deserves all our support right on up to the day when
"It's Good to Be Us" goes for adds--I think it's good that radio knows we're happy with hearing Bucky on the radio, period. And it'll be fun to hear his new hit and his first hit this fall!

Dbrosch, hello and yep! No matter what the final "peak" position for "A Different World" is, one thing's for sure--Bucky's debut single is a big ol' hit. That is the recorded fact, forever and ever amen. :) I'd love to see it bounce a little higher too, but we can be so proud of how his first chart foray has turned out!
