Quick Saturday news: Homecoming memories, CMT Insider, Country Countdown USA and more...

This photo seems to have a fan club of its own! By request (again!) Bucky Covington smiles for the cameras on the red carpet at the CMT Music Awards in Nashville in May. Visit Music City Update for lots of fantastic Nashville event photos by Aaron Crisler. Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy, iTunes , WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club. Photo by Aaron Crisler/ Music City Update .com

Sounds like Bucky Covington was a hit at the Belpre Homecoming--here's a bit from the early review in the Marietta Times:

Former "American Idol" contestant Bucky Covington headlined the event. He arrived on stage to chants of "Bucky, Bucky" and screaming fans.

"Bucky is fantastic," said Erica Bennekamper, public relations director for the Belpre Chamber of Commerce, one of the organizations arranging the fair.

"I love coming to Ohio," Covington said. "The phrase 'Ohio rocks' definitely fits."

(Note for Bucky: we love having you here, too!) If you, like me, couldn't get there for the festivities, stay tuned to Kathy's Team Covington blog; she was at Bucky's show yesterday and she'll have plenty of memories to share as the weekend goes on. Head over there now for a link to a newspaper article complete with a great photo of Bucky and Don Medlock.

(There's also a just-posted recap of the Belpre show on this kind concertgoer's MySpace blog...)

Today's edition of CMT Insider features a fun segment filmed during Bucky's visit to Idol Camp--you can catch it at 2 p.m. ET (repeat airtimes here), and there's an online story at CMT Loaded, as well. And in syndicated radio news, Bucky's co-hosting visit to Lon Helton's Country Countdown USA is said to be a blast and a half--a friend who listened to an early broadcast online says that Bucky was his usual engaging and witty self--and informative, too. Among the tidbits discussed: Bucky will reportedly be doing several concert dates with Jason Michael Carroll and Cole Deggs and the Lonesome this fall. (Talk about a must-see lineup!) You can find out where Country Countdown USA is carried near you courtesy of the show's station finder, or check Radiotime for a big list of stations, including streaming options--remember, Radiotime uses the Central time zone as a default, so adjust accordingly for your area. (Thanks, Sunscreen!)

We'll get the glass-half-empty chart news out of the way first--the dreaded "superstar bump" has happened, and "A Different World" starts Saturday at #6 on the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 rankings, with no bullet on the former chart. The glass-half-full news is that the negative number is only an easily-rectified 16 spins. I know we've got that covered, y'all! Keep requesting "A Different World" at your favorite local and streaming country stations--even with that superstar pole vault, there's still opportunity there to make Bucky's debut single's already excellent chart run even better, and no matter what's happening on the charts, it's always a joy to hear Bucky on the radio. (How proud are we? Very proud...)

Be sure to give Bucky's video a little affection at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown, and at CMT's Top Twenty Countdown, too...many thanks to Dixie for alerting me to the new link to the CMT ballot, where you'll see Bucky's smiling face once more.

Bucky's concert this evening takes place in one of the lushest and most comfortable venues on the tour--the beautiful State Theater in State College, Pennsylvania. Fans in the PA/OH/NY/NJ area have a rare chance to see Bucky, Rocky, Don, Hans and Shaun in a truly easy-to-get-to, ultra-posh setting--so if you're nearby and you've got flexible plans, you are in for a wonderful night of music! Click here to check for ticket availability, and have a fabulous time.

If you're too far away to get there by this evening, the very gracious Hildi will be hosting a conference call from the show--I'll be out and about tonight, so be sure to check the Bucky Covington fan thread at AmericanIdol.com and the Road sub-forum at the official fan club boards (membership required) for the numbers and times to call. (I am shamelessly hoping some sweet conference-calling soul will pop the info into comments here, as well--when it comes to sharing the fun, the more the merrier!) Huge thanks in advance to Hildi and her helpers for their kindness.

And of course, Sunday night brings the sure to be rockin' Bottle and Cork bash in Dewey Beach, Delaware. Snag your ticket for this 21-and-over show at Ticketmaster, or at the door--this is going to be a wild one, folks. The tour schedule at Bucky's official site has all the info you need to make a live show a part of your summer wind-down--check it out and mark your calendar!

More later--enjoy your Saturday!

  1. I am awake... kind of lol.... I will be back on later with a photo link. I swear there must have been close to 10,000 people there! For a town of a little over 6000, that's not bad lol We are right across the bridge though and we are fairly big as well as Marietta so he drew a lot of fans. You and Beesims will be proud, I only had 2 fangirly moments. Luckily he was unaware lol
