Professional photographer Mike Clifton of Local Sports Online was on hand for Bucky Covington's concert at Wild Bill's in Atlanta in June, and his stunning gallery of shots from the show is an absolute must-see. Thanks again to Mr. Clifton for his incredible images--his contact info is available at the gallery link, and his beautiful work speaks for itself. Enjoy! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. Bucky's matchup will happen during the second half of the show. At noon, hit the "Vote Now" button, keep that voting window open and get ready to mouse-click away...
The expected wrestling match between Bucky's debut single and the his superstar "neighbor" on the chart is in progress at Mediabase this morning--"A Different World" is now #11 on the weighted chart and #10 on the Top 500. Keep requesting "A Different World" at your favorite local and streaming country stations, keep those "local "Top X at X" and nationally syndicated radio shows in mind, and give Bucky some affection at CMT's Top 20 Countdown and GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown too. Every request matters so much this week!

More later--happy Wednesday!
Today CMT made a complete fool out of Bucky and his fans. I am sick of the obvious non support they have shown Bucky. I was one that witnessed the name change on the poll against Blake Shelton. I have been watching Top 20 for a long time and never seen anyone come close to falling off that chart as fast as Bucky did from #1. Then they totally drop him from Pure Country while still #1. I stopped watching CMT at that point except when he was on Power Pick. But today was the worst and most obvious they have done yet. That was so so fixed. I'm done with them. Thanks for letting me get my frustrations out.
ReplyDeleteEveryone of us has to be on CMT Power Picks Friday. I have never seen the "Dixie Chicks" win anything on CMT so it had to be a huge outpour of support by their fanbase or members of other fanbases voting against him. IMHO, I believe it is the last one. However, I will not vote against anyone just because they are close to passing Bucky on the charts or because they are ahead of him. What goes around comes around and I think he will do just fine in spite of this horrible thing on CMT today. We all must be on CMT Friday -you dont need TV, just computer. VOTE as many times as you can as fast as you can and do not stop until the computer makes you! We can win this next one if we are ALL here for it. Friday, July 13th, Noon, EDT. My local station has been a tough nut to crack as far as Bucky goes but they are now playing him at least 3 - 4 times a day and in peak hours too! GO BUCKY GO!!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened on the poll today?
ReplyDeleteHello, Anon and Bunny!
ReplyDeleteToday was definitely disappointing--but it's repairable. Not only are there more Power Picks matchups in the works, but the bigger and most important picture for "A Different World"--the Mediabase charts--isn't affected that much by the vote there. A video play on CMT counts as one "spin" on the Mediabase Top 500, if I'm not mistaken. (Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that!)
So yes, we want to win--but if we don't, an extra successful request or two will easily offset the loss. (And I know this doesn't apply to most people who read this blog every day, because I know we're requesting as much as we can--this is more a shout out to the casual visitors who stop by every so often. If you're reading this, please feel free to request Bucky in your home town!)
Anon, even though things are very frustrating and I totally respect your feelings, I honestly don't think CMT has it in for Bucky--he's likely getting the standard "new kid on the scene" treatment there, with the added obstacle of residual fan-war/Idol stigma to work against. If anything, I think Hazel Smith would hit someone with a rolling pin if she found out about any plot to keep Bucky down! She likes him a lot. And her place in country music history definitely gives her some clout. :)
However (and this is a big however) the bread and butter for Bucky both now and in the long run will be dedicated fans like us plus the more casual fans who like his songs, enjoy his videos, and go out to see him live. Those people may or may not be voting on Power Picks or on countdown ballots--and let's face it, all the mouse clicking and ballot-filling is a pain in the neck to do unless you are really eager to support someone! But they will be requesting Bucky's song on the radio and buying his CD, especially if they've heard him play live.
I would guess that a lot of people who love "A Different World" would have no clue who his "rival fanbase" would be, nor do they care. But they do want to watch him on CMT and GAC and hear him on the radio, and radio, GAC and CMT are all interested in pleasing them, and us, and keeping their advertisers happy. Between us and those folks, those twenty years he's wanting are going to happen.
I'm rambling a bit and sounding like Pollyanna again (so what else is new?) but the main point I am clumsily aiming at is this--please don't let a Power Picks loss get you down too much. The internet fandom scene--and all the rivalries and polls and what not--is one part of the picture, but it's not the only one. Add all the parts together--airplay, CD sales, the new fans he is winning on the road this summer, and a big bunch of potential hits on his album--and Bucky is doing awesomely well.
Besides, we'll reign supreme next time! ;)
I think the CMT has been more than fair to Bucky....he has gotten more screentime than many new artists. And the hosts (like Lance Smith) have always been positive when talking about Bucky! Please keep in mind that what goes up must come down...and that CMT has many artists to cover and they all have fans too! I think they have covered Bucky fairly! --Kasper
ReplyDelete(Good Lord, that was long. I need an editor! Sorry. :)
ReplyDeleteWindy much Ms. Buckymania? ;) (See her 11:58am comment) hahaha
ReplyDeletehee hee I <3 Winnie!
Bucky gets his fair share on CMT and perhaps a bit of extra love on GAC so for a new artist I think overall we as a fanbase have nothing to complain about at all. "Ya win some, ya lose some!" Onward peeps! :D --Sunscreen
(Oh darn...it is no fun me snarking at you when you snarked at yourself while I was typing up my comment. Oh well. haha)
ReplyDeleteBucky got lots of press for being # 1 on both PC and CMT....so all good.
I say forget CMT for now and lets hope he gets to #1 on GAC...he has been dancing around that top 5 for a long time now. :D
Just a thought. --Sunscreen
I'd love to see a #1 at GAC! (Can we call that a triple crown?)
