Fireworks in Vegas, baby...

By request, a fun photo from earlier this year--Bucky Covington smiles at a Fox reporter's question at the Opryland hotel before his Opry debut on March 9th. Photo courtesy of the very kind Sweettealove. (Thanks again!) Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

Happy 4th of July! Here in the U.S., we're celebrating the spirit of independence today with fireworks, cookouts and music--and if you're a Bucky Covington fan in or near Las Vegas, you'll have the chance to hear his rockin' country music live and loud. Bucky's free, all ages poolside concert tonight at the Silverton Casino is sponsored by KYCE/103.4 Coyote Country, and they suggest you stake out your best spot as soon as possible:

July 4th join the Coyote for a free concert by
Bucky Covington poolside at the Silverton Lodge and Casino starting at 8pm. This show is free for all ages but space is limited so get to the Silverton early!

It's safe to assume that poolside is going to be packed--so bring your camera and get ready for the pool party of the year! (To find out when Bucky, Don, Shaun, Hans, Rocky and possibly Caitlin will be coming your way, head over to Bucky's official site for the tour schedule, and make plans for a rockin' country party of your own...)

Meanwhile, for those of us who are far from Vegas (bummer!) there's the option of listening to Bucky on the radio--but be careful out there. Today is one of the many holidays for which radio station programmers have a vast array of pre-packaged "theme specials" to choose from. The golden rule of requesting (request only from stations you can and do listen to, whether they're local, streaming or satellite) is especially important during holidays. Listen in to make sure the coast is clear and the request is appropriate--then call and email away.

Edited to add this great radio-related note from a kind Bucky fan in Alabama--looks like Bucky's got some fans among the DJ set, too. "On my radio station WBAM 98.9 in Montgomery this morning, the DJ played 'A Different World' and had a comment about Bucky," she writes. "He said that Bucky had a great voice and compared him to Marty Raybon of Shenandoah. I thought that was a very good comparison. He said 'that boy has a very great future in store for him.'" (Thanks to A. for the good news.)

"A Different World" looks lovely at #11 on the Mediabase weighted chart and the Top 500 again this morning--and yes, the suspense is making us crazy. Top Ten is so close we can taste it! Keep today's holiday advice in mind, and keep requesting Bucky at your favorite local and streaming country stations. CMT's Top 20 Countdown and GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown are always looking for our opinion in the form of online votes, 365 days a year--let them know you're loving Bucky's video, too!

Finally, here's a bit of USA-themed video to start off the morning--remember "Living In America" from last year's American Idols Live tour? Check out this clip of the opening night performance of the song by Bucky and the Class of '06, and contemplate all the good stuff that's happened for Bucky--and his fans--since then. (I'll say it again--it's good to be us, y'all...)

I'm off to the beach in a bit, but I'll check in later with a sales update and any new happenings. Have a safe, joyous and wonderful July 4th!--Winnie

Hi, I just thought I would let you know that your song Different World has a lot of the writings of my husbands (Forward) in his book. (Why, When I was a Kid) Autobiographical Ramblings By Jim Palmer Jr. Check it out I always thought he was a good writer and now it is a song!!! Our friends and family noticed it and now since the song we have seen it on the internet and news papers???

  4. Hi, Tracy, Buckyflowers and Anon! Tracy, how I wish we could have all be there for the Vegas pool party--maybe next year? ;) Love ya too and thanks for dropping by here--I hope you had a great 4th!

And Buckyflowers, I agree--it is so much fun to hear that the DJs there put in a good word for Bucky on the air. Loving it, too!

Hello Anon, and thanks--this isn't Bucky's official site, and I'm just a fan who likes to write (a lot), but Mr. Palmer's book sounds like fun, and I'll definitely keep an eye out for it!

(Just for the record, the official Bucky Covington site is BuckyCovington.com, and "A Different World" was written by Mark Nesler, Jennifer Hanson and Tony Martin. Whether the sentiments take the form of prose or lyrics, they are definitely something that all of us past 25-or-so can relate to, in part or as a whole. Thank you so much for stopping by!)
