Wednesday news: party time, Sirius fun, Opry memories and more

Thanks, Moon! Bucky Covington enjoys a chat with the audience during his April show at the Whiskey Roadhouse in Council Bluffs: click here to enjoy a lovely Photobucket album full of concert and backstage photos by the very kind Moondancer. (Thanks, Moon!) Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

Bucky's celebrating a very happy birthday today--not his and Rocky's (we'll have to wait until November for that), but Lyric Street's. The company is toasting its tenth year in lavish style, according to this article in today's Tennessean:

In what is shaping up as one of the most star-studded parties ever held in Music City for a 10-year-old, Rascal Flatts, Bucky Covington, Josh Gracin, Trent Tomlinson, SheDaisy and others will gather downtown to add harmonies to a memorable rendition of "Happy Birthday" tonight.

The invitation-only soiree at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will honor the 10th anniversary of the Disney-owned Lyric Street Records.

A definite must-read if you're interested in the history--and future--of the very hot label Bucky calls home...

GMA at CMA Music Festival

There was also a little Nashville history in the spotlight on GAC last night during a special CMA Fest-themed edition of Grand Ole Opry Live; Bucky, Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler were featured in a profile about former Idol contestants who have graced the Opry stage. Our friend Sunscreen got to see this beautiful segment firsthand, and she's talking about it over at the Bucky Truck Stop today--don't miss it, y'all. (Thanks, Kasper!)

Thanks also to Kasper for this heads-up on some CMA Fest coverage from the good folks at Sirius New Country (who gave us a Christmas gift we'll always treasure, as you recall.) From their home page:

New Country covers the CMA Music Festival – Fan Fair 2007!
Thurs 6/7 - Sun 6/10

The biggest four days in country music is coming to Nashville on June 7-10 and SIRIUS takes you there! Hear special interviews and exclusive acoustic performances from the biggest stars and newest faces of country music! Expect to hear from Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Gretchen Wilson, Toby Keith, Lonestar, Little Big Town, Bucky Covington, Craig Morgan, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and more! And maybe you: New Country host Big Zak will be talking to the fans, on the air, on June 7th and 8th.
Sirius offers a three-day trial membership for online listeners--the link is right there on the channel's home page--but watch out. It's a pretty addictive experience!

In chart news, "A Different World" is holding that sweet bulleted #14 spot on both the Mediabase weighted chart and Top 500 charts as of the morning report. (Keep requesting Bucky at our favorite local and streaming country stations, and remember those "Top X at X" and national syndicated country radio shows, too.) And today is a very important final voting day for CMT Pure Country's Pure 12-Pack --it's rumored that there's a friendly rivalry in progress for the #1 place Bucky now holds on that countdown. We aim to keep it! Vote there today and keep Bucky right where he belongs--and feel free to give him some love over at GAC's Top Twenty page, too.

We'll close for now with a little eye candy by the very kind Moondancer, who shares her great photos from Bucky's Whiskey Roadhouse performance in Council Bluffs in this colorful Photobucket album. (We love that shot of Bucky chatting with a fan on the phone!) Thanks to Moondancer for the sweet memories.

More later today!
