Edited to add request info: Sirius' Listener Line number is 877 33 SIRIUS.
If you are a Sirius subscriber*, please request "Different World" by Bucky Covington at that number, or online from "Request a Song" link at the New Country page.
Sunscreen (who has some major positive karma headed in her direction) just shared this classic screenshot, along with some lovely, lovely news: "Well, I just heard Bucky on the radio. He sounded fabulous..." (She goes on to say it should be a huge hit: "'Different World' is a top-notch song and Bucky's vocal choices on it are perfect!") Edited to add--she heard it again at about 2 p.m. MT.
If you haven't done so already, feel free to head to Sirius and sign up for their three day trial--and if you love the service (it's a wonderful way to listen to music), consider signing up for the whole nine yards. (Yes, this is still a non-profit blog, and that was not a commercial--but we're talking about Bucky on the radio, y'all.) If you do already subscribe, Bucky's on "New Country", Channel 60.
Congratulations, Bucky! (And big, enormous thanks to Sunscreen for this wonderful Christmas gift!)
Hey, it's another edit! A very good question about request etiquette was raised in the Chatbox; for now, since Sirius is the only radio airplay so far, it's best to stick to one phone and/or one online request per person, per day; with IP address tracking and caller ID, it's very easy for stations to tell if someone is over-requesting or street-teaming. As has always been the case with Bucky, slow, steady and real wins the race. (It's a great song, sung well--chances are we won't be the only ones requesting it...)
The best news is that it's perfectly okay (and helpful) to ask your friends to request it, too! The more individuals asking for "Different World", the better. Hoping to get more info on the best ways to go about this--but isn't it fun to be considering radio request etiquette so soon?
What an exciting Christmas gift we've been given today!
*Sadly, radio brass consider requests made by people who can't listen to their stations to be "spam"; previous Idol finalists have been badly hurt by negative radio industry reactions to "spam" requests from well-meaning fans. If you would like to request Bucky's song on Sirius, sign up for the three-day pass. And if you can't subscribe, don't fret--soon, "Different World" will be heard on plain old FM radio, too. Enjoy!
Saw you added the request phone number....they also have a song request pop up box on the website.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Just added the info to the post. :)
ReplyDeleteI just signed up for the 3 day pass and requested Bucky already :) I can't wait to hear it. Very easy to do and doesn't require any cc info or anything :)
ReplyDeleteThink we can get Bucky on the most requested list by next week? :)

They just played "Different World" again....just after 2PM MT. Bucky sure does sound good on the radio!
ReplyDelete--Sunscreen
Now they are playing "Ladies Love Country Boys"....hahaha...that song always makes me think of Bucky! :D
ReplyDelete--Sunscreen
EEEEEeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteI just heard Bucky on Sirius!
Im so happy for him!!!
I signed up for the 3 day free trial, and
right away requested the song. They said
theyre playing 4 new songs an hour, so I'll
bet they play Different World again today.
Im picturing the Covingtons all cheering
today on Christmas
when they hear the song come on, at home
in NC !!
Chan
Now they are playing "Real Good Man" which Bucky sang on idol....so thinking of him not Tim on it too. haha
ReplyDelete--ss
How exciting! I bet the Covingtons are really celebrating this Christmas--what a gift!
ReplyDeleteI like that "most requested" goal...hmmm... :)
Thanks, Sunscreen, Deb and Chan...I'm trying to get Sirius to work with my PC tonight. Wish me luck!
(Got it to work! Hope they play Bucky again tonight--honestly, I will brew a pot of coffee and stay up as long as it takes... :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy! :)
Looks like I just missed it! Dang...sigh. Yep, staying up all night...
ReplyDeleteWe'll keep requesting Winnie. I think they should play it once for each new subscriber they get today from Bucky.
ReplyDeleteIt was on at 8pm did you hear it winnie?
ReplyDeleteNope, Deb...I got it to work at just about 10 minutes after the hour--so I must have missed "Different World" by moments. But I'm staying up. Have to hear it at least once today to make Christmas complete. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Honey, if they did that, they'd have to play it every ten minutes or so, I think! (Not that we'd mind...)
I think they need to come up with an All Bucky, All Day station. That would make me happy.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Sirius New Covington Sound, Channel 150. We'd be there!
ReplyDeleteWinnie I just read the post that immediately preceeded this one. HAH! You thought you were going to have the day off.
ReplyDeleteSilly girl, it's Monday - we always seem to get big news on Mondays.
That was exceedingly silly of me, wasn't it? :D Never been happier to be wrong about a "slow news day" prediction!
ReplyDeleteHi Winnie ,
ReplyDeleteI heard it at about 1, and again at about 5 (PST)
so they should play it at least by 9! But thats
late for you, isnt it? 11 pm?
I'd think they'd play it again sooner, though.
Good luck!
Chan
Hey! Just got in! Signed up for the trial....I assume under country I want to pick the New Country one right?? I am all excited!
ReplyDeleteChan, thanks for your good luck wishes--and I hope you're right about the time! I don't mind staying up late. (I'm kind of a nightowl these days anyway.) So nice he's getting so much airplay today--a lot of people got Sirius radio for Christmas, I bet, so the more new ears, the better... :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Kathy, yep--it's New Country, channel 60. Fingers crossed he'll be on when we are!
Great!! OoOO I hope so!
ReplyDeleteIt's on! It's 11:26 Eastern. Whoo, Bucky on the radio! :D
ReplyDeleteHi Winnie,
ReplyDeleteIsnt it good to hear him? I really love this
song - I find myself singing it ever since I saw it
on You Tube. Cant wait for Empty handed, either,
though!
And a full concert....!
Come to the Northwest Bucky!!! Outside of the city
there are definitely counrty music lovers here.
Hope you had a lovely Christmas Winnie.
Back to normal life tomorrow! Actually,
this whole week is for planning resolutions
and my next year....so thats still Holiday
mode I guess.
take care, Chan
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I got off fro a minut last night and missed it!!!
ReplyDeleteStill haven't gotten to hear it yet. Yesterday was just too hectic for anything and the hubby is home today and watchin ESPN. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got to hear it Winnie! And Bren sending hope that you can hear it soon.
ReplyDeleteChan thanks and yes, it was so exciting to hear Bucky on the radio last night...can't wait to hear "Different World" again! I was almost...well, stunned, really, in a happy way--he has worked so hard and it's such a joy to see how far he's come. Bucky's on our radios!
ReplyDeleteI'll second that request for Bucky to do some shows in the Northwest. Remember how beautiful he said it was there? (And I agree with him, by the way--it really is!) Bet he'll be there on hs next major tour. Fingers crossed for the Western fans!
Bren and Kathy, crossing my fingers for you, too--I have a feeling you'll hear him loud and clear on Sirius today! Bren, I hope there's a little break in the ESPN monopoly for a while... :) And Kathy, hang in there! I really do think that it isn't just us requesting it; bet it'll be on lots today.
(Still doing the "Bucky's on the radio" happy dance here...)
I have already threatened everyone to stay away from the computer today! It is mine until I hear Bucky!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteKathy, I can practically see that "Keep Off!" sign on your computer... :)
ReplyDeleteI've had Sirius playing most of the day, except for when my PC froze (sigh!) Haven't heard Bucky at all today--have you?
Okay I have been back of TV Control since about 11:30am. Still haven't heard him. I even called and requested!
ReplyDeleteBren, glad you have control now! :) Did my once-daily request, too--haven't heard him, but it was fun to hear Kellie Pickler and Josh Gracin.
