Wednesday news: Power Picks, ACM wrapup, and more...

Bucky's video for "A Different World" will face a head-to-head challenge on CMT's Power Picks, which begins at 12 noon ET; click here to go directly to the Power Picks main page. Bucky's matchup will happen during the latter half of the show, so hit the "Vote Now" button, keep that voting window open and get ready to mouse-click away! Results in comments later today...

The 42nd annual ACMs were full of music and glamour--and Bucky looked terrific on the "orange carpet" last night. (He'll really look great on the stage accepting an award or two in '08...) The Bucky Truck Stop at Rawkhands has a beautifully done roundup of wire photos from the event (thank you, Sunscreen!), and there should be much more in the way of images and stories available as the day rolls on.

Bucky's quickly mentioned in this vignette-style AP story about the awards; not sure if "trolling for attention" and "riddled with Simon Cowell survivors" casts an entirely fair light on the singers with Idol backgrounds who were present, considering there are quite a few #1 hits, award wins and current chart successes among them. But it's an interesting glimpse, all in all.

Speaking of the charts, a kind anon in the previous comments section points out an interesting little glitch--it seems Carrie Underwood's "Wasted" was apparently listed as recurrent Tuesday, but is back on the "currents only" Mediabase weighted and Top 500 charts today. Bucky's "A Different World" is now listed at #18 and #20, respectively, and that lovely bullet still holds! The song's still growing strong; request Bucky at your local country station and help keep the ball rolling. (And while you're here, feel free to use our convenient links to the CMT Pure 12-Pack and GAC Top Twenty countdown ballots and show Bucky some love...)

Edited to add a link to the CMT Artists "most anticipated new album" poll--which is still in progress, even though all the CDs mentioned are now released and thriving. Click here to vote for Bucky, and have fun!

Bucky, Rocky and the band resume their tour tomorrow with a show at Coyote's in Louisville, Kentucky. Tickets may still be available at Ticketmaster.com, and be sure to check his official tour schedule to find out when he'll be rockin' a house near you.

More very soon--have a great Wednesday!

  1. Power Picks results--"A Different World" lost to "'Fore She Was Mama" by Clay Walker, but I missed the exact percentages. (Hope someone caught the final score...)

(Is it just me, or did the program time change from 3 p.m. to 12 noon really affect our fan-power? I know noon is a lot less convenient than 3 p.m. was many of Bucky's supporters who would otherwise love to be clicking away with us. Sigh...Next time!)

    Winnie-
You are definitely not the only one thinking that. I am at school during that time of the day, and every time I see that he didn't win, I think 'I could have helped him win that one!' Really wish I could help out with those. When they were at 3:00 I could get home just in time for them. *Sigh*

  3. Just kills me how some view idol contestants lol They have all three had high debuting albums etc lol I read an article once that Kellie said a waitress in Nashville once said to her "I've been here trying for years, how is it fair you get all this for standing in a line? Kellie said " You could have stood in the same line." lol go kel! And as for Bucky Chris D and Taylor they paid their dues in bars etc just like anyone else *sticking my tongue out* lol that gets my goat for some reason lol

  7. Hey, all!

Kathy--you and me both. I am honestly a big believer in msuicians and singers getting real-world experience under their belts, but the fact is that all but the youngest of the Idol bunch did just that. One of the biggest bummers is that Bucky's original tunes are no longer online, but the Southern Thunder info is online for anyone who wants to check out Bucky's musical past. It's lazy journalism to dissmiss them as "instant stars"--in the real world, there's almost no such thing. (Sigh!)

Anon, it's good to know that others have noticed the effect of the show's chang in time on our voting opportunities--I really miss that 3 p.m. time, too. I wonder if it'll be changed again, depending on the overall vote totals? There's no doubt a relationship between the amount of votes (which indicates the numebr of people watching)and what CMT can charge for the commercials. If we're not the only ones who can't vote at 12, I bet there will be another change of schedule...

Buckyflowers, you and me both--it's making me crazy as well! I've been gone most of the day, and like you I am puzzled at the actual status of "Wasted". Hope they come to a consensus eventually! :)

Thanks for the chart update, Anon! I am off to make another post with your good news... :)

That was me up there ^ :)

I too wonder about the vote totals having an effect on the voting time. They always change times for things like that on me! lol
