In chart news, the Billboard Top Country Albums listings have been posted, and Bucky Covington comes in a a solid #12. The Radio & Records/BDS Country singles chart lists "A Different World" at #18 with a bullet this week--up a notch from last week. Finally, the Mediabase charts show that fierce battle for #15 is still in prgress--Bucky's still sweet #16 on both the Top 500 and weighted rankings as of this morning. (Call your local country station and request Bucky today, and we can keep that steady climb going strong...)
And of course, Bucky's video is knocking them out on the GAC and CMT countdowns, too--please vote for "A Different World" at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown while you're enjoying your morning surf around the net.

So are Bucky's CD hard to find. Have you gotten alot of inquires about where to fing them? Im just wondering cause all access has dropped Bucky from #12 down to 23 with a -50% sales from last week. How would we find out if Lyric Street shipped out a bulk amount? I would like everyone to be able to buy Bucky's cd at a store and not download it. Downloading his CD does not count towards sales or does it????
ReplyDeletelet your fingers do the walking. Call Walmart, Target, Circuit City before you head out the door. Some have them, some dont, Lyric street is shipping daily as re-orders come in but if you find a store that is out, get store name and number, city, state and put in comments. We can help by making sure stores that run out get new ones in quickly! Most stores only do inventory and restock 1 time a week.

ReplyDeleteWith all due respect to All Access, I really think Billboard/Soundscan's weekly numbers and the HDD estimates are a better indicator of what's going on, so those are the ones I stick to for the front page of the blog. Comparing those from week to week gives a good overall picture of the general trend. (As you might have guessed, I am no chart expert and no math major, either!:) Billboard's got him at #12 on Top Country Albums for the week.
And I see that another kind Anon popped in while I was writing this and answered the CD stocking question! Thanks. :) It's something we can help out with--it is indeed important that the physical CD be in the stores for people to buy, so Anon's got the right idea--sharing the info gives us a better chance of actually getting the CDs into the stores that need them.
I haven't gotten a huge number of inquiries, but empty racks seem to have come up in conversation, so I thought I'd ask. (Some of my favorite CDs are ones I bought on impulse while just browsing the racks, and I'd love for people to discover Bucky's album that way!)
Any paid, legal downloads count as sales--however, I am not sure of the fine details of how downloads are factored into sales, so I will do a little research for us both. :) (Sales experts out there, feel free to chime in...thanks!)

And from the general Billboard Charts article, about singles:
"Starting in 2005, Billboard changed its methodology to allow paid digital downloads from digital music stores such as iTunes to chart with or without the help of radio airplay."
So...physical CD sales are the easiest and most fun to measure, but any new purchase of Bucky's music, digital or physical, counts towards sales and on the charts.
Thanx Winnie, I feel better about the downloads of the whole CD being counted. Since I know alot of music lovers out there don't go to the stores to search for cds.
