Thursday news: Tennessee Mornings with Bucky, a chart hop and more...

Bucky Covington on stage in Weldon, NC back in December; photo by the very kind Blu. Head to Team Covington for more info on Blu's brand new concert shots! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

(Updated: here's a link to 97.3 The Eagle's photo gallery, where photos from Bucky's concert last night have just been posted, and to Team Covington, where Kathy's got a link to some beautiful shots now, courtesy of the very talented BluIsDixieGurl. Enjoy!)

If you're a Bucky Covington fan in Nashville this week, you're in for some major musical treats. This evening, May 10th, Bucky and Sawyer Brown take the stage at the Wildhorse Saloon to benefit Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee's Kids Cafe program (last-minute tickets might be available at Ticketmaster.com), and very early Friday, the local Fox affiliate's Tennessee Mornings show will feature a five-song performance by Bucky and a special appearance by current American Idol finalist (and Nashville-area native) Melinda Doolittle. From the show's MySpace:

Join us in the live audience for FREE! Just come by the Wildhorse Saloon on Friday May 11th from 6a-8a and enjoy the show! (Please try to arrive by 5:45 a.m.)

Bucky will perform 5 songs! Plus, meet Charlie & Kelly!

Don't miss this opportunity to cheer on your hometown American Idol finalist... in person!! Bring as many friends as you would like!

If you have any questions please contact tennesseemornings@fox17.com or send us a message on our MySpace!

The Wildhorse Saloon is located at 120 Second Avenue North in downtown Nashville--and if you can be there for this sweet surprise show, go--and say hi to Bucky for us!

And there's also a buzz happening at Bucky's MySpace blog, where a fun new Friday feature has just been announced. Hop over there now to find out more about Bucky's Friday questions, and how your answers might win you an autographed photo...

In chart news, both Bucky's album and single are lookin' good; "A Different World" moves up two spots to #19 on this week's Radio & Records/BDS charts, and holds that same number on the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 listings. Bucky Covington, the CD, is #9 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart this week. (It's also #39 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200.)

Bucky's sold more than 100,000 copies of his self-titled debut CD in just three weeks, y'all! And the phones are ringing for "A Different World", as that Radio & Records jump proves. (We can keep that buzz humming, as well--call your local country station and request Bucky today...)

More fun facts, via Lyric Street: Bucky Covington debuted at #1 on Nielsen SoundScan’s Country Top 75 Chart on April 25th with 61,000 units sold. Bucky’s debut CD entered Nielsen SoundScan’s all genre Top 200 chart at #4, and he was the only new country act to open inside the top five this year. Bucky has the distinction of having not only 2007’s biggest debut from a new country artist, but also the best first week sales and highest Top 200 debut for any new male country artist since Billy Ray Cyrus in 1992.

Bucky’s fan support was also evident at a recent on-line auction at Opry.com. His autographed, hand-written lyric sheet for his lead single “A Different World” raised $4005 for the Opry Trust Fund, an organization formed to provide financial assistance to those in the country music community going through an emergency or time of need.

And here's another fan-support opportunity--vote for Bucky's video at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown today, and feel free to request "A Different World" at legacy station WKML, too--zap them an email a country@wkml.com and put "Top 5 at 6" in the subject line. The Top 5 show streams online at 6 p.m. ET--and chances are good that your local station has a "Top X at X", too. Let them know you're enjoying hearing Bucky on your hometown radio!

More news later today--see you soon!
