Tuesday news: GAC, ACM Awards and some fond concert memories...

Photo by Aaron Crisler/ Music City Update.com--thanks!Bucky Covington and Mark Miller of Sawyer Brown share a smile backstage at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, May 10th; visit Music City Update for a beautiful gallery of concert photos by Aaron Crisler. Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club. Photo by Aaron Crisler/ Music City Update.com

There's a new short-but-sweet article posted at GAC today; the first part highlights Bucky's recent accomplishments (over 100,000 copies of Bucky Covington sold in three weeks, a Top 20 single on the country charts), but the latter part is new:

Bucky tells icebergradio.com that he's working hard to stay in control of all aspects of his career. "Every picture that goes out I have looked through already," he says. "Every song that's been on the album I have picked. I know what goes on an album. I know you've gotta have your 'radio' songs and you've gotta have your 'album' songs, and I know what I like to hear. If I can just relay that, then it's a pretty good thing."

(We couldn't find this particular interview on the Iceberg Radio site--if you can, please share the link!)

According to Country Aircheck, Bucky was one of many country notables who took part in the first day of the Westwood One remote broadcasts from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Monday, in advance of tonight's Academy of Country Music Awards. About 30 stations carried the remote interviews, and there'll be more on the way beginning at 8 a.m.--here's hoping your station has a pleasant surprise for you today!

As for the awards themselves, the festivities kick off with GAC's "orange carpet" coverage tonight at 7 p.m. ET; the awards air live on CBS this evening. (We're guessing there's a chance our favorite rising country star might be spotted on that orange carpet--can't hurt to tune in and see...)

Another tidbit from Country Aircheck--Bucky will be part of the coming weekend's CMT Insider show, airing on Saturday, May 19th, with many repeats over the next few days...

Here's a beautiful MySpace gallery of shots from last Saturday night's Seattle show--Bucky Covington and Neal McCoy rocked the house, and our talented artist friend Tracy was there to capture some gorgeous images. She's very kindly added that they're free for the grabbing--so have fun! (You can enjoy a lovely review at Tracy's MySpace blog, too.) And for another bit of retro-fun, check out a fast-paced and fun recap from the same show, courtesy of the very generous Buckarood. Definitely a don't-miss description of a fantastic night!

Looking into the future, here's a little heads-up on an upcoming fantastic time in Grand Rapids, via B-93's MySpace blog:

The B-93 Birthday Bash presented by AT&T is nearly a month away at the Ionia Free Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday June 23rd and 24th -- and get this lineup: Dierks Bentley, Sara Evans, Josh Turner, the Wreckers, Emerson Drive, Bucky Covington, Jason Michael Carroll and more. The best part is that tickets are free. How do you get yours? Keep listening to B-93 for free ticket pickup locations and times to be announced real soon. Click here for the latest Bash info, and info on how you can win FRONT ROW seats to Bash !!!

Stay tuned to B-93 for more details, and click here for Bucky's official tour schedule--the summer festival season is heating up, y'all...

We'll wrap things up for the moment with a look at the charts and some handy voting links--"A Different World" was #18 on the Mediabase weighted chart and #19 on the Top 500 Monday afternoon, but things could look a bit different by the time you read this. (If you'd like to make them look even better, be sure to keep requesting Bucky at your local country station. It's especially important this week!) The CMT Pure 12-Pack and GAC Top Twenty countdowns are waiting for your votes, too. And today's the end of the week for Hits Daily Double; the second day of rolling album sales estimates begins at approximately 7:30 a.m. Pacific.

Have a beautiful Tuesday--see you later!

  3. I logged onto myspace this morning as I have been neglecting it lol and almost hit the floor when I saw Tracy's new pic in my friends list! She got really good shots and wow he looks good in yellow! I wonder if there will be a snip of him on AI this week since he was at part of Melinda's homecoming. I don't hold my breath with Idol. :)

Does anyone know why the carpet is orange instead of red?

  7. LOL, Pizzi--yep, TV shows can be DVRred or taped, but your son's trombone concert is a must-see. :) Someday, when he is a famous trombonist and a fan starts up a blog about him, we'll all remember this day and smile... :D

Anon, good question about the ACM carpet and its orange glow! I have no clue but if I come across a story, I'll share, I promise.
