Bucky's a "Best Cellar" for T.J. Martell

WKRN's "Steph in the City" blog reports that Bucky Covington will be part of tonight's 8th Annual Best Cellars Wine Dinner in Nashville to benefit the T.J Martell Foundation. From the Foundation's site: "This year’s sold out event pairs country music’s best ‘sellers’ with connoisseurs who own Nashville’s finest wine ‘cellars’ for an intimate evening of fine wine and gourmet fare..." Martina McBride, Montgomery Gentry, Brooks & Dunn, and LeAnn Rimes are also among the many celebrities who will be on hand for the event.

Edited to add: Bucky's latest--and last--USA Today diary is posted. It's guaranteed to bring a smile to your face--and perhaps a lump to your throat, as well. Enjoy!

I was hoping for Buckys 2nd week sales to be better than what they are. 45% reported Bucky is in 15th place with 13,113 sales. I was hoping for a top 10 finish this week

He's right behind NIN who finished #2 last week. All Access has him predicted to drop around 44% which is not bad at all for a 2nd week drop. To compare, Avril, who had the #1 album last week is predicted to drop something like 60%. All Access is not always right, but it's a pretty good ballpark indicator.

I'm not much of a Mary Sunshine person and I hate positivity police worse than anything, but it really is probably way too early to start hand wringing. He's going to drop a lot the 2nd week - totally normal. He'll be fine. The good thing is that he's got a really solid album to draw from for singles to push sales.

he needs some network TV appearances if Lyric wants to keep the sales coming on his album

one single appearance was not enough!!!!

Well, that would be Lyric's problem, IMO. I've got too much on my plate to worry about someone else's career path. Maybe that makes me a bad fan, but it is what it is. I enjoy the album and that's all that matters to me. Bucky seems to be enjoying the ride so far so until I hear a complaint out of him, I'm happy for the guy.

Perhaps an appearance is in the works - you never know. The ACM's are coming up. Josh Gracin never got a network appearance on a show like Leno, etc. yet he still sold gold.

Hey Elliott dropped to #28 his 2nd week and Kellie dropped to #27 her 2nd week. I was expecting Bucky to drop a similar amount. If Bucky stays in the top 15, I am thrilled!

By the way, it doesn't look like Bucky is going to update that Twitter thing anymore. Perhaps it should be removed? Bucky hasn't exactly been "relaxing at home" lately.

I concur with Anon at 1:58 and 2:10. Bucky has an amazing team working for him at Lyric Street and they done great things for him in terms of promotion. This is a country album and it is being targeted to that audience. If he doesn't get on Letterman or Leno, no biggie. He is working his tail off criss crossing the country doing radio promotions and shows where it really matters. There are thousands and thousands of new artists that would kill to have Bucky's second week sales numbers. It still good to be us!

  7. Hi, all!

Anon 1:49, I'm not sure if you're the same concerned fan who wrote a few days ago about Bucky's second-day sales--if so, please forgive me for being redundant. But the Anon who replied to you is right--the drop is well within the range of normal, and his second week sales are still lookin' good.

With an album like Bucky's--chock full of potential singles--you're going to see a lot of sales surges and plateaus in the coming weeks and months. This is not one of those CDs wth one good song and a lot of fillers--those are the ones that tend to quickly peak and plummet. So take heart. I know I sound very Pollyanna-esque as usual, but Bucky is doing beautifully now--and will continue to do beautifully with his spring, summer and autumn hits from this CD.

Anon 2:06, I'd love to see him do more network TV, too! I think the music itself will be what keeps the sales coming on the album, though--"A Different World" has broken through that Top 20 barrier and still has lots of legs, and the next single will keep him in the spotlight all summer. I don't doubt that Lyric Street has some excellent promo plans for Bucky in the works. ("Highest male country debut since Billy Ray Cyrus" is a pretty good sign they're doing an stellar job!) But yes--love seeing Bucky on network TV. Hope we'll have lots of chances in the months ahead!

    Anon 2:10--yep! :)

Anon 2:11, I have been meaning to get into the template all day today and move that Twitter badge! Look for a link to Bucky's Twitter profile in the sidebar under "official sites" later today--if he starts updating it again, I'll put the badge back in the sidebar. The week has not been as "relaxing" as all that for him, I am sure. :)

Beesims, you are so right about how hard Bucky has been working to make all this happen--and so far, so good. He and his team have accomplished some amazing things--from creating an excellent album, to making sure practically the whole country gets a chance to see him live, to getting that fantastic single and video out and up high on the charts.

And the fans who've been supporting him have accomplished some amazing things, too! We've been requesting, voting, cheering and basically showing our love--and the results have been beautiful.

Again, I didn't mean to single anyone out for a lecture. Anons 1:49 and 2:06, I'm sure you posted beacuse you were concerned, and you're concerned because you care. Caring is good. :)

Now it's time to add a little trust to that caring. Bucky clearly trusts the team of professionals behind him--he can't say enough good things about them, and he's got every reason to be thrilled! He's in the big leagues now--he's got his talent, his smarts and his charisma, and he's also got major professionals guiding his path. As fans, we can keep up the good work with the requesting, voting, showing up for shows...but really hardcore worrying is going to take the fun out of this for you, and fun is what it's all about.

And with all that said--I also hope you'll feel free to say what's on your mind here, even if it's met with a huge long reply saying basically "don't worry!" I have a tendency to over-reply when I see any Bucky fan feeling bad about anything that's happening--especially when so much good is going on.

Have fun with this! Bucky sure is. ;)

Josh got several network appearances. At least 2 come to mind but there may have been more.

Im sorry I brought up Buckys sales, I just want him to be successful and not fade into the background like most idol NON winners do. I am aware that sales do drop after the first week.
I love the person Bucky is and his CD is absolutly amazing. I would just like for everyone to hear it is all.

  12. Anon 8:44, I am totally with you on that--he truly does deserve to be heard by everyone! And it is an amazing CD...so amazing that I think the chances of him fading away are far less than what Idol history would lead the average chart-watcher to believe.

I know I'm biased, but even taking that into account--there's something truly unique and wonderful about Bucky Covington. I believe he's going to be incredibly successful in the long run--and in the short run too, with this being the first of many hit CDs. So...you and I are probably thinking more alike than it seems on the surface. :)

  13. P.S.--It's perfectly okay to bring up Bucky's sales! No need to apologize at all. Let's face it, if we all had the exact same way of interpreting the news, this would be a very boring comments section. :)
