Wednesday news: R&K today, Circuit City mysteries and more....

Bucky Covington's debut CD will be in stores April 17th; visit his official site for a full track listing and much more info. Bucky's new music video is now available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can pre-order Bucky's CD at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT, or enjoy samples of four songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be pre-ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

Today's the day! Bucky Covington appears on
Live with Regis and Kelly to perform "A Different World" on network television for the very first time. Check your local listings for time and channel, and get ready for a music-filled morning!

There's bit of a delicious--and extremely speculative--mystery brewing on the retail front via a post at DVD Talk Forum, where a possible preview of the Circuit City deals for March 25 to March 31st contains this very intriguing line:

CDs, $9.99 each:
Tim McGraw: Let It Go w/CCE Bucky Covington interview disc//Minimum 5 per store

I'll have to admit to being a bit of a techno-ignoramus here (CCE*..what?) , but the idea of a Bucky interview of any kind as a freebie with a CD many of us were going to buy anyway is pretty delightful. It's always best to keep in mind that this is an unsourced post on a message board--but with that important caveat in place, if anyone knows anything about whether or not this post bears any resemblance to reality, please feel free to share. Inquiring minds want to know...

(Updated at 10 a.m. ET--yep, it's true! Circuit City will be offering an exclusive Bucky Covington interview on the making of the video for "A Different World", and it sounds like J.D., the charming actor who plays the younger Bucky, will also be featured on the disc. Here's a bit more info: it's an 8 minute "behind the scenes" DVD interview from the set of the music video "A Different World." The DVD is free with the purchase of the new Tim McGraw CD, and only 6,000 will be available nationally. Thanks to all who wrote in with information...)

And on a somewhat related topic, quite a few searches and questions about possible bonus tracks, store exclusives and such have come in today. The Elliott Yamin CD post at MJ's Big Blog might have inspired the inquiries; from what's listed there, it looks as though E's fans have no less than six bonus tracks to collect from three different retail sources. This evening, we got the official word--nope, no bonus tracks are currently planned for Bucky Covington. "Just one disc for everyone to enjoy and buy for their friends..."

To stay on top of the news, sign up for Bucky's street team (free to join, and lots of fun!), his official news letter, or check the music page on Bucky's official site. We'll be on the lookout for news here, too--so stop back for any updates...

Team Covington has an excellent overview of a special treat this week--looks like Bucky's fans everywhere will be able to enjoy his promotional appearances in Florida today and tomorrow via conference call, courtesy of the very gracious Hildi and company. Sounds like a good time to us! Stay tuned there and here for specifics as they become available.

We'll close with the usual important reminders: after you've requested Bucky at your hometown country station, give him a nationwide boost by voting for "A Different World" at the CMT Pure Country Pure 12-Pack video countdown page, and on GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown. And an email to country@wkml.com requesting "A Different World" for the WKML "Top 5 at 6" is a nice way to round out the morning...

Finally, a heads-up on CMT's Power Picks live video-challenge show; the matches aren't always posted online ahead of time, so if you don't want to miss out on the fun, take a moment to open the Power Picks page every day between 3 and 4 p.m. ET if you can. Bucky might pop up at any time, needing your votes!

More soon--see you later today...

*Quick guess--"Circuit City Exclusive"? Hope so. I barely have a PC, let alone anything that plays a "CCE", whatever that might be...

I am confused...so you have to buy a Tim McGraw album to get something extra that has Bucky on it? :o

  2. That's what it sounds like--but again, that message board post was the one and only reference to a Circuit City bonus, so it's safe to file it under "mystery" for now. Hope the Sunday papers will reveal all!

Yep, circuit city only will carry this behind the scenes footage for the video including interviews with Bucky and JD (the little boy in the video).

    Enjoy :)

  5. Hi, Kathy and Anon!

Anon, thanks for the info--it'll be fun to check out both Bucky's and JD's take on the experience of filming the "Different World" video . Looking forward to that!

And Kathy, hee! My excuse...er, reason--no sleep the night before (and none last night--my Photobucket server went down and a very kind friend helped me get some images back in the wee hours). I took an embarrasingly long time to register CCE as Circuit City Exclusive...

Almost time for Regis and Kelly here--sure hope Pizzi, Peg and Beesims are in the audience today!

  7. Hi, Buckwild08! From what I can gather, this is a bonus interview on a DVD and it'll be available in Circuit City stores only, but I'll keep looking for information. Sunday's paper should have the whole story for us.

And I was so tired yesterday that I didn't realize "CCE" meant "Circuit City Exclusive" until I thought about it a while! I think I need to stop substituting coffee for sleep... :D

Bucky's amazon went in the wrong direction. He went from 1400s- over 2100. WTF is going on. I thought for sure they would go down. His myspace is getting some good traffic today though.

The amazon mystery.....they corrected the title of his album and the label...so he now has two entries. One with good old numbers and one with bad new numbers. Hopefully they will get him down to one entry for his album and all will be well. :)

I just check...both are up now but if it was one it would be up way higher. But there is still one listed under "Bucky" and on now under "Bucky Covington" like they were two different albums.
