First look at Friday: new site delights, KIX 96.1, and an anniversary waltz...

Bucky Covington greets the crowd during his Grand Ole Opry debut on March 9th; photo courtesy of Sweettealove. (Thanks so much for your kindness!) Bucky's new music video is now available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can pre-order Bucky's debut CD at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT, or enjoy samples of four songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace.

(Edited to add a note from comments: the photo section at Bucky's official MySpace has just been updated with some beautiful new shots. Many thanks to the anonymous fan who shared the good news!)

Bucky's new site is up and running--and from all the rave reviews, it's safe to assume it's a smash hit! From the freshly illustrated bio to the already-bustling street team and fan club, the place is buzzing. (Be sure to hit the tour page too; all of Bucky's appearances with Sawyer Brown have meet-and-greet request links, and it looks like all of them are open to fan club members as of this hour...)

If you'd like to meet and greet Bucky this weekend--and you live in the Pacific Northwest--you're in luck. Bucky is listed as doing a "KIXZ radio event" today in Spokane. (Unfortunately, the site crashes my fragile browser, so the actual nature of the event remains a mystery to me; it's probably a good idea to listen to the streaming audio there this morning for a possible interview and some news about Bucky's visit. And as long as you're listening, why not put in a request for "A Different World"?)

Saturday brings the big St. Patrick's Day charity bash in Portland, sponsored by KWJJ; you can see Bucky at Dukes beginning at 9 p.m., and tickets are an extremely reasonable five dollars. All proceeds benefit the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Call 503-760-1400 for ticket information, and have a fantastic time!

And to wrap this up, a meta-note; yesterday, Buckymania turned a year old. This blog was started with one pretty simple goal in mind; I just loved Bucky Covington's beautiful, distinctive voice, and I knew from the moment I heard it that I wanted a whole CD's worth of his singing, and a whole career's worth of concerts and albums to enjoy. What I didn't know back when all this started was what an amazing ride it would be--a ride that started with a simple Blogger post and blossomed into a journey made joyous with new and delightful friends, incredible shows, and just up the road, the debut CD that was the inspiration for this site.

Looking back on the last year, it's hard to say what I treasure the most; there have been so many surprising blessings that have come from writing this blog and supporting a truly talented and deserving artist that I wouldn't know where to begin. But I will say this--being a Bucky Covington fan has really been its own reward. Every Bucky Covington fan I have met in the past year--whether in person or online--has been a radiantly friendly, generous soul. Every one! And that same description applies to Bucky himself, and to his gracious family. (Thank you all so much...)

I can't imagine a lovelier way to spend a year than in your company, cheering on one of the most enjoyable new artists ever--so I'll wrap up this anniversary post with a hearty thanks to you. Whether you're a fan, a friend or family, whether this is your first time here or your thousand-and-first, I want you to know how much you are appreciated. It's been an honor to watch Bucky's career blossom and grow with you--and this is just the beginning!

From the sentimental back to the practical--you can help Bucky's career blossom even faster with a well-timed request for "A Different World" at your local country station, and with some equally well-timed video voting; CMT Pure Country's Pure 12-Pack video countdown and GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown are waiting to hear from us, and Bucky's Pick or Flick championship deserves your text-message applause. And of course, be sure to send an email request for "A Different World" to country@wkml.com, and let WKML know you're enjoying Bucky on the air.

More later today!

Sniff, sniff...oh, Winnie..your reflections today really got to me. Hard to believe we are getting so nostalgic as we watch Bucky's career zoom. Funny, I guess I thought you always existed because you were there when I started "googling" Bucky right after Wave on Wave. You have been a huge part of his success because you were where we could go to find out more about this guy with the voice that grabbed our attention and the eyes that would not let us go. Thanks for the memories.

  7. Happy Anniversary! And this is probably the 12,000th time I've hit the blog in the last year lol You have been a huge part of Bucky's success because by starting the blog during his idol time, you helped him avoid that idol pitfall of "voted off and forgotten" Fans have always had someplace to go for info and you do a fantastic job! Bucky fans are a special bunch, you could see it last year on the Fox Boards and it's gotten even stronger. We just want to help him succeed and we all appreciate everything you've done with your beautiful blog!

Jeez Winnie.. got me tearing up a bit! It has been an amazing journey so far and the road just keeps on stretching on. I can't wait to see how far the ride lasts.... I think we want that 30+ year career for Bucky just as much as he wants it for himself.

You have done an awesome awesome job for Bucky and your site is ALWAYS my first stop of the day with at least 2 stops throughout the day.

    **standing ovation for Winnie**

  11. Icyfire, Anon, Buckyflowers, Kathy, dbrosch, Pizzi and Bunny--and everyone!--I really, really want to thank you so much. It was clear from the very first notes he sang to us via television how amazing Bucky was and is, and the incredible people he's attracted as fans and friends are the sweetest bonus in the world.

I can't say it enough--thank you for stopping in here, and for everything you do to support Bucky! He is really blessed.

(And just think about those 30 years plus ahead...we are in for a lot of good times down the road...)

Another standing ovation here! :) Truly, we are blessed that you took the initiative way back when and honored Bucky in a manner befitting him - with respect and admiration and just the right sprinkling of adoration. ;) It was such a pleasure to meet you in Nashville.

    Happy 1st Anniversary from Sweettealove!

    Happy Anniversary Winnie!

You truly are the most eloquent and informative chronicler of all things Bucky. It has been a pure joy to come here every day (and usually multiple visits) and read your latest post. You have been with us through the highs and the lows (can we ever forget the sadness we felt on April 12th when we were all afraid Bucky would vanish into reject Idol limbo?) and through the long dry spells when the only thing happening was a Bucky sighting at an Applebees. I feel so fortunate that I have been able to meet you in person and discover that you are just as lovely in real life as you are in cyberspace. Here's to many more years of Bucky blogging and if anyone deserves to get an advance copy of that CD from Lyric Street it has got to be you.

  15. Honey, Sweettealove and Beesims, I thank you for stopping in here, for your very kind words, and for being such fun to hang out with! Nashville was an absolute blast, and I really enjoyed getting to talk to you face-to-face and sharing Bucky's first Opry night together. We are in for so much more musical fun...

(And while I'm here, let me add that your photos have been such a blessing! Thank y'all for being so generous with your talents. It's very much appreciated!)
