Top 40!

The evening Mediabase reports are in, and they're reason to celebrate--as of this afternoon, Bucky Covington's "A Different World" is now #37 on the Top 500, and #38 on the weighted chart. Congratulations, Bucky! Keep requesting...it's working! (Thanks to Marzy for the update.)

And be sure to stop by your local checkout counter for this week's
Country Weekly; the issue dated February 24th has a full-page photo and article on Bucky, according to a kind Taylor Hicks fan at the Fox boards. (Yes, I'll be there first thing Monday morning for my copy...)

Edited at 12:45 a.m.: The editor of Country Weekly, David Scarlett, was just on Blair Garner's After Midnite talking about this week's issue; while discussing an article about the success of country ex-Idols, he mentioned that he'd heard Bucky's upcoming album, calling it "incredible". Sounds good! More soon...

Listening to Bob Kingsley top 40 countdown and I am not sure exactly what chart they are using but
#40 Come to Bed - Gretchen
    #39 Danielle Peck song
    #38 Pat Greene Dixie Lullaby

On the mediabase charts we are watching .. it looks like Bucky needs to be about 35 on them before he will hit these top 40 countdowns... thoughts?

  6. Hmmm...good question! Wikipedia says the Bob Kingsley countdown uses the Mediabase 24/7 Country charts, but doesn't specify which Mediabase Country chart.

Wikipedia also says ACC Top 40 uses Billboard magazine's Hot Country Songs chart and Country Countdown USA uses the Radio & Records country chart.

I think you are right about the actual "Top 40" songs on the countdowns perhaps being the Top 35 or so...hmmm. Again, good question! Hopefully we can find out more...

Keep in mind that the chart just changed at about 3pm pst. And Gretchen was #40 until then. So maybe next weeks countdown he will be on it.

The countdown shows run 2 weeks behind...so he will get credit if he hold for week.

Billboard is based on mediabase but remember they do it as an average of the week...what we look at is two snapshots of a given day...so if Bucky holds on for a week above 40 than he will be in the countdown the week after that.

  12. Looks like we'll just have to keep dialing and make sure Bucky's single keeps that momentum going... :)
