Bucky Covington, in a promo image from December 2006. You can pre-order Bucky's debut CD at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT, or enjoy samples of four songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. Bucky is also featured in this week's edition of Country Weekly magazine, on newsstands now.
(We're suffering from multiple tech problems today here in the Great Lakes; full post coming as soon as possible. Thanks for hanging in there!--Winnie)
Just a reminder for Bucky's Twin Cities fans: K102 is sponsoring an American Idol viewing party at 7:00 p.m. at Major's in Bloomington. Bundle up and head out to enjoy a brief acoustic performance by Bucky, as well as tonight's final 24 results. Have a fantastic time!
Bucky's video is already getting the red-carpet treatment at CMT in advance of its official debut tomorrow; Kathy of Team Covington reports that she's seen a promo spot for the "A Different World" video, complete with big "World Premiere" banner! The big event happens tomorrow during CMT's Top 20 Countdown, (click here for show times) and we're hoping the video gets a lot of airtime right away...
(Just got word in comments that there's a special "love song" countdown at 6 pm on WKML tonight...so tomorrow, be sure to write to country@wkml.com and request Bucky for the "Top 5 at 6"--it'd be fun to get Bucky back on the countdown in a big way Thursday evening. Thanks to our commenter for the heads-up!)
C'mon back for a longer news post when we're all repaired and ready. See you then!
I was very excited to see the ad on CMT. Seems they will really be behind it and Lyric is once again right on the promo ball.
ReplyDeleteCan you post a clip please. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI just called WKML to vote. But tonights 5@6 is for love songs only. So no Bucky today. Different World is not a love song.
ReplyDeleteOh thanks for posting....I was just going to request. :) I think I will listen in anyways to see what peeps came up with...maybe a bit of Alan Jackson? :)
ReplyDeleteHi, all! I am still trying to fix this Atari PC...
ReplyDeleteKathy, I have had CMT off and on all day while I work, hoping to catch that ad--that is just too cool. Lyric Street is definitely on the ball and it is so fun to see all the buzz!
Anon 11:45, I'm sorry--I can't post a clip but the good news is that the video will be on Yahoo Music on Friday, so you'll be able to see it online very soon.
Thanks, Anon 1:14! I edited the post; hope we can get him back on the countdown tomorrow.
Enjoy the show--WKML (especially Larry) is fun even if it's a theme countdown tonight. And I'd bet Alan Jackson will be right there in the mix!
WOW!! I can't believe how much Buckys amazon numbers have dropped. With all this promotion I would of expected higher sales. Im a little worried. Come on people BUY, BUY, BUY.
ReplyDeleteHi Anon 3:40! I think the last time Bucky's Amazon presale numbers took a dip, several people came on to explain why those rankings can't always be used as a predictor of first week sales when it comes to both country and Idol fans. They were much better at putting it into words than I am! :)
ReplyDeleteFrom what they had to say, though, roller coaster fluctuations on the Amazon listings are pretty normal, so never fear--Bucky's numbers might look much nicer after the video goes into rotation on CMT and GAC, and again after the all the TV appearances he'll be doing in March and April. Factor in the many people who distrust online buying (but will be right there to buy his CD in stores) and the picture looks brighter still.
I know I sound like the biggest Pollyanna who ever Pollyannaed but I really believe he's going to do well come April 17th, and after.
Thanx Winnie, I hope you are right. I realize some people don't like to use their credit cards online. But looking at a few of the other artists alot do.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Winnie. I will be in line first thing Tuesday morning to buy my Bucky CD's. (I'm buying extra to share with friends) In fact, y'all may be able to preorder from your local music store.
ReplyDeleteI preordered the Daughtry CD from Sony and I didn't get it until Friday. That was a long, cranky three days at my house.
I wouldn't worry about Bucky's Amazon numbers when his release date is still 2 whole months away. He doesn't even have album cover artwork or a song listing yet. I think his sales will pick up once his release date gets closer, and his music video is being played on tv regularly, and his radio airplay increases.
ReplyDeleteDid we know about this appearence?

March 1st at the Wildhorse Saloon?
Hi Honey--nice find! I know we'd all talked about Bucky being part of the Country Radio Seminar this year, but the CRS show at the Wildhorse is new on me. Looks like it's open to the public, so I'll add it to the post above this one.
ReplyDeleteNashville lurkers, mark your calendars! :)
