CMT: the place to be

(Hey, it's a long rambling tl;dr post--haven't had one of those in a while, have we? Thank goodness Bucky's been keeping us busy! News post coming next--Winnie)

Edited to make sure everyone checks out an excellent point in comments--Ogopogo writes that Bucky and his fans should maintain a strong presence at the AmericanIdol.com boards, too: "There are 1,013,757 potential CD buyers on there tonight plus new fans coming onto that board at all times looking for information on Bucky." The CMT Bucky Covington message board and Bucky's thread on the Fox boards will be busy spots in the coming weeks--so be sure to hit both...

It's happened to all of us, hasn't it? That sweet little bakery we love so much suddenly moves across town; that cozy little coffeeshop where we hung out with our friends gets bought out and tuned into a fast food place. For those of us who've been chatting about Bucky Covington online for the past year, the AmericanIdol.com board was a central location--not the only one by far (see our sidebar for plenty of other excellent options), but the one that nearly all of Bucky's online supporters visited every day.

As of today, Bucky's board at the Fox site is no more; he and all of last year's ex-Idols are now consolidated into one big multi-singer "Season Five Discussions" board. Bucky's thread there (yep, a thread) is moving along nicely, but with a new video and a fast-rising single and a promo tour and an Opry debut and a whole lot of other exciting stuff to talk about, we're going to need much more than a thread.

Maybe we should all migrate to the CMT Bucky Covington board as soon as possible?

Granted, it isn't the prettiest board on the internet, and the fun stuff most places offer (avatars, signatures, etc.) is conspicuously absent. But it does have two things that no other board for Bucky can match. CMT is a huge stop for country music's biggest fans, both on cable television and on the net. Listeners who are seeing him for the first time on television via the beautiful "A Different World" video (rather than on Idol) will stop at CMT.com first to find out more about him. A busy Bucky Covington board at CMT lets them know that this is a performer whose star is rising.

Keep on posting at the many great fan-operated boards out there, but be sure to stop in and say hello at CMT, too--I'll see you there!

News post coming up--see you later this morning...

    Winnie,
I feel it's important to maintain a presence on the American Idol board for Bucky and plan to do that. There are 1,013,757 potential CD buyers on there tonight plus new fans coming onto that board at all times looking for information on Bucky. By posting the current tour info, his website and my space plus keeping his songs available in my bookmarks, people have instant access to him. Ogopogo

  2. Ogopogo, you make an excellent piint--and if I'd been thinking, I would have come to the same conclusion.

Actually, it's best that he has a presence everywhere! Idol is of course a marketing powerhouse, and with so many visitors, he should have a strong presence on the AI boards as well as CMT.

Would you mind if I posted your comment out front? I think it's important and everyone should have a chance to read it. (I'll borrow my nieghbor's PC in a few and see if I can PM ypu at Fox too.)

Thanks and I appreciate your thoughful comment!
