Bucky on WSIX "House Foundation"

The podcast of Bucky's hilarious visit with Gerry House and the House Foundation is being uploaded even as we speak, in parts; register for the E-Mail club at WSIX website, then head to the House Foundation podcast page to listen to or download the interview. Enjoy!

10:13: A kind listener who called the station reports that Bucky will be on shortly, and the interview will be carried on the regular Big 98 stream; I'll recap as it happens below, stream willing...

10:17--Bucky introduced on air, is in studio--says he's not a morning person! "10 second bio--AI, left show, Mark called me, see y'all!" Mark Miller is nuts, Gerry House says. Bucky tells story about Mark--IRS came calling, noted that Mark's other ventures were prospering, but the cattle ranch was not as lucrative. Mark's reply: "We suck with cows!" Bucky says he's not a farm boy--never milked a cow. "No, no..."

Bucky talks of the advantages of dirt bikes over horses: "If you're not riding them, you don't have to feed them". They segue into the topic of the single and Bucky sings a bit of the other "Different World" (the sitcom theme!). They talk about who Lisa Bonet was married to (Lenny Kravitz--the answer came from a caller.)

Bucky mentions how nice it must be to have people call up and supply answers when you can't think of it. "Name something you can't think of"...laughter. Bucky quotes Ellen DeGeneres--"people spend all this money on yoga to get their minds clear, but it's amazing what pops into your head when your mind is clear..." then launches into the Clorox 2 "Mama's got the magic of" jingle!

"A Different World" now playing.

Caller--Guy who sounds impressed and jokes "You've made it now, because you're on the House Foundation." Bucky tells a joke by a mutual favorite comedian about what a truck driver stuck under an overpass tells the rescue crew when they come..."Well, I was just delivering this overpass and I'm happy to say I was successful..."

Caller--Gerry invites her to talk to "half the Covingtons"; she says song is great. Bucky thanks her--"you're not just saying that because I'm on the radio?"

Caller (familiar lady's voice?) asked about Grand Ole Opry--band put together? Rocky is drummer, bass player "from home", looking for a "good picker".

Caller--Male voice. "You're going to have a great career."

Caller--Male, retired--"That's a good record...watched you on Idol, loved you there."

Caller--Male voice. "I'm the other Covington!" Laughter. "Great song--congratulations, it sounds good."

Talks about the "three TV channels"--no cable, Atlanta Braves were on two of them all the time--rabbit ears antenna with the circle thing in the middle "didn't work worth crap" Finally got a remote--mom kept the remote on the other side of the coffee table and would ask Bucky to get it for her sometimes! Talks about where mom lives now--golf resort--"I love to play but I suck." Playing golf with Mark--he's emotional but Mark told him to take it easy. Playing golf with Mark Miller in Oklahoma, on 18th hole--guy w/4-5 balls on 18th green, just putting...Mark gets upset. "Nobody can be calm on a golf course."

Back from commercial--talking about Trace Adkins, making jokes about height in general and song titles that brag--"Get a Load of Me Now!" might be the title of his next one--speaking of "I'm Good", which Bucky says "he's heard a lot of good things about"...

They're playing "I'm Good" on the radio, ya'll! (Okay, your blogger will stop happy dancing now, but whoa...this sounds great.)

Caller Debbie--wanted to tell Bucky she say him on Larry King and was so proud. Bucky's so intelligent. "I didn't sugarcoat much." Larry King has a "great radio personality and TV and all."

Caller--Laura from Amarillo (hi!) Is coming to see him him at Opry. "Do you remember who I am?" Sent him a Christmas gift. "I love you, sweetie!", Bucky says as he says goodbye. "Buckyneers?" No, Buccaneers.

Commercial, then a recorded Kellie Pickler "NASCAR math" problem.

Caller--has the answer. And my stream just died for a moment...something about kisses.

"Bucky, you're fabulous!" Bucky thanks them and says he's gone to "play some golf"--wink wink, nudge nudge--then they talk about Deja Vu Strip Club sign language. (Playing golf, the fun way...)

And Gerry House says goodbye with "the standard" sendoff--"Good luck in the industry."

Don't miss the podcast--it was hilarious, and Bucky, Gerry and the House Foundation were an excellent combination. Gerry, if you're lurking...please ask Bucky back! Photos may turn up at the House Foundation's page on the WSIX site; if you visit now, you'll see Kellie Pickler looking cute as she shows off her monkey toes and a red high heel or two...

More soon--enjoy your Thursday!

The part you missed about a kiss was they told the lady to kiss Bucky good bye if she wanted to...so she made a smooch sound...and then he said thank you and that it left a mark, a hicky. hahaha

In the long list of things that made this interview so wonderfully entertaining is that Bucky sang 4 random snipets from a collections of jiggles, TV themes, and other songs. Very cute. ADORABLE! :D

Bucky is so quick coming up with the pop culture references. Love all his movie quotes. haha :D

  12. Bucky is definitely pop-culture savvy--a big plus on morning shows and in "showbiz" (hee) in general. I really, really enjoyed this one. Hope he revisits the House Foundation...the combination was a winner.

Do ya'll know if "I'm Good" was recorded on the podcast? Ya know I am stuck in the backwoods and dial-up kills me. I can't listen to any streaming :(:( I called the DSL and Cable companies today to see if there was any word when service would be our way, if a laugh was any inclination, I would be safe to assume it is no time soon!

  18. Good question, Bren! I downloaded the parts but haven't been able to listen yet-I will now, but hopefully someone else will be able to answer before I can...

I am so sorry you're stuck with dial up and with laughing service providers. Been there, done that, no fun at all! Hope they get you hooked up via DSL sooner than they planned...

The songs are edited out of podcasts. I expect it is because of copyright issues.

  20. Just listened, Bren--they did cut "I'm Good" out of the podcast. (But the non-musical parts of the show are well worth a download, even at dial-up speed--it's a total hoot.)
