It's almost time for WKML's "Top 5 at 6"--how will Bucky Covington's "A Different World" fare in the countdown tonight? Listen to the online stream now, and stay tuned--we'll have the results for you here later this evening. (Bucky was back at Number One tonight--congratulations and thanks to all who requested!)
And there's a "Nightflight Dogfight" challenge at 97.3 the Eagle (search link fixed) in Virginia Beach at 9:15 ET tonight--Bucky was the champion yesterday, and his single faces a new challenger later this evening. This station streams too, so listen for details on how to vote for "A Different World". Results after the show...
Edited at 9:35 to add KQFC in Idaho--contest in progress, station streams online. Go now!
(Update: Bucky's "A Different World" won both the Idaho and Virginia Beach dogfights in landslides! Bucky was also a "Love It" pick on WQMX's "Love it or Leave It" tonight in Akron. Thanks to everyone who endured those long-ringing phones this evening. More soon!)
Top 5 at 6

ReplyDeleteThanks, anon! :)

ReplyDelete#2 Jason Michael Carroll "Alyssa Lies"
ReplyDelete(ROFL! Ya know...I didn't realize that if one looks at the player...)
ReplyDeleteI got a nap and am still acting sleep-deprived.
#1 Bucky Covington "Different World"
ReplyDeleteWhat is gmta? Cute Bucky quote added today. Always love his enthusiasm. Makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteVideo? Hmmm... :)
ReplyDelete"GMTA"="great minds think alike"
Woo hoo...Bucky just got back from Hollywood from doing the music video for "Different World." :D
ReplyDeleteHis official site says something about a video and photo shoot too
ReplyDeleteYes saw that it was planned on the official site but always good to hear that it was finished. hahaha Details needed now. :D
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it---that is going to be so much fun!
ReplyDeleteYay # 1 I have links to check out! lol Thank God you were on top of it today lol Zach's been a sicko today with a cold so I have been entertaining him lol Kellie's album went gold.
ReplyDeleteOh no--hope Zach gets better soon! A cold's no fun for anybody, but it's especially tough for the little ones. Hope he bounces back fast.
ReplyDelete(And big congrats to Kellie--great news!)
When is the thing for tonight?
ReplyDeletehttp://eagle97.com/skin/grid.php?gridId=586
ReplyDeleteI am trying to find out but their maze of a site keeps crashing my browser. :(
ReplyDeleteI think it's at about 9 p.m., but wanted to see the actual time on the site before I posted that on the blog. If you find the info there, let me know!
Bless you, anon--that worked! Guess it is the main page of the site that is crashing my browser so badly. The challenge starts at 9:15, and I'll post it up front now.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the company Bucky's keeping in the "new release" grid. :)
Seeing that Bucky is the header for the Billboard chart beat column is just too cool (even if they are using the fugly mustache shot). I love the fact that he is slowly (well maybe not that slowly) but surely inching his way up the country chart in true Bucky fashion without a lot of fanfare and Idol related hoopla and winning new fans left and right on the power of his vocal talent and the perfect first song. I am so impressed by the support he is getting from Lyric Street and Mark Miller. I also love that fact that he is taking his time with his first CD and really trying to make a real album that you will listen to from start to finish.
ReplyDeletePS: I straightened out my ticket goof with Ticketmaster and I now have a ticket for the 9th not the 6th. Woo hoo. I'm going to Nashville!
Excellent news--I am really looking forward to seeing you there! It's going to be a fantastic experience--a sweet bit of history in the making.
ReplyDeleteAnd you have a good point--the pace so far seems to be that of an up and coming country singer with a head-turningly good debut single, rather than the usual "ex-Idol, ta-dah!" fireworks, and that's good for the long run. The 20-30 years Bucky spoke of wanting would be a dream come true for us as well; this is a wonderful start.
I did not vote but listened in. Bucky won the Dogfight in Virgina with ease. If he has one more win tomorrow he will be retired as a big champ!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was cool that many of the people calling in for Bucky were men. :)
Good going men and women of my old home state! :D
WQMX (Akron, OH) listeners voted "Love It" during Love it or leave it tonight.
ReplyDeleteI recognized several voices on VA Beach dogfight. LOL. YEAH Bucky. I noticed that there were lots of guys for Bucky!!!!!Yee-haw!
ReplyDeleteI love this news--thanks so much! I will add the Akron info to the post. (Hey, after that Canton GAC concert, I knew Akron was going to love it--they went wild for Bucky there!)
ReplyDeleteAnd let's hear it for the guys! :)
YAY FOR MEN! hahaha
ReplyDeleteI love to see all these wins!! I was watching Nashville Star and my Bo was in the audience. Almost fell over lol
ReplyDeleteBo was at Nashville Star tonight? Whoa! Glad he's back and healthy and ready to rock. :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder that he was there...does that maybe mean they will have him participate in some way in a future show? Maybe they plan a southern rock night?
ReplyDeleteIf they had a Southern Rock night--with Bo--the ratings spike would be so high that the producers might start up a spinoff. Bo is beloved!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe Bo was there last night - I just started watching this show. Nice, nice bonus. I *heart* Bo; him and Bucky need to get together and have a BBQ or something. ;)
ReplyDeleteBucky won on my station last night.. dont forget to tune in an vote for him again!! KQFC in Boise! woohoo!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think my station will ever play him. Well it's not technically "my" station since I don't really listen to mainstream country radio, but still, I've suffered through enough of their programming - the least they could do is throw me a bone. Does anyone know if he's been played on any Clear Channel stations.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, thanks to Winnie for the great resource here. I don't know how you find the time but here's looking at you, kid. ;)
Anon, I feel your pain! Sounds like you and I are in the same boat--my local country station is CC-owned, and it has an extremely tight playlist. This vintage PC can't pick up all the streams out there, but I'm veryhappy to have lots of listening options on the intrawebs...
ReplyDeleteThere are two CC stations I know of offhand that are playing Bucky's single; B-93 in Flint (of Birthday Bash) fame, and WTQR in Winston-Salem. (The kind lady who wrote to me with news about the latter said the the DJ told her they'd been playing it only at night for the last few days, but they'll be adding it to the daytime rotation sometime this coming week.) Hopefully more will hop on board soon.
And as far as time goes...um, I'll just say that since that blurb about Bucky being signed popped into my inbox on New Year's day, the sleep-to-coffee ratio has reached a dangerously unhealthy level... ;)
