While we were out: KKNG 93.3, Oklahoma City (and more)

Edited to add--you guessed it--more news! From the American Idol front page:

Bucky Covington will be combining two of America's favorite pastimes this weekend at the Sound and Speed event in Nashville. He will walk the red carpet before attending tonight's VIP dinner at the Wildhorse Saloon, where NASCAR and country music stars will join together to raise money for the Victory Junction Gang Camp and the All for the Hall campaign.

The VIP dinner is a private event, but photos from the red carpet may turn up on wire services and at the Sound and Speed official site this weekend. Pop into the American Idol news page for more details...

Remember a couple of posts back, when we were discussing how great it is supporting a song as solid as "A Different World"--and that we online Bucky Covington fans wouldn't be the only ones who fell in love with it? Here's a case in point. While most of us were listening to Bucky's inteview on WKKT in Charlotte this morning, KKNG in Oklahoma City featured Bucky's new single as their "Make It or Break It" track of the day. This just popped up on morning host James Ayers' MySpace Blog:

Our Make It Or Break It song today is from Bucky Covington. If you remember, he was one of the finalists from last season's American Idol Show. "A Different World" was the song featured, and I have just tallied the votes...you voted unanimously to Make It. Thanks for your votes. We'll have a new song to feature Monday morning at 9 on Make It Or Break It.

There you have it, folks! It's not just us.

More later today!

  3. See this was my hope! Those casual non AI listeners! News of his appearance this week has made the AI homepage. I love Lyric Street!

  4. Lyric Street is really supportive. I love how the label's been behind him.

And yes, those casual fans--people just listening to the radio and liking what's blasting from the speakers--are so key. It's an excellent single, pure and simple...and that is what really matters!

I can't believe how supportive the Idol homepage is of him NOW. It cracks me up. I'd love it if Bucky came back for a guest performance on this season's AI, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Just to see the look on Simon's face would be sweeeet.

That's great news about the Make It Or Break It thingamajigee. Especially since the fans didn't even know about it. Regular folks must be loving them some Bucky.
