WDRM 102 in Huntsville...

We're streaming the Dan & Dingo morning show on WDRM in Huntsville this morning, waiting for Bucky Covington's call-in interview--the station streams, so join in! We'll have a recap in the space below, if all goes well...

6:37--Bucky's on! The single is "absolutely incredible" says the DJ--saying "I didn't expect this out of you!" Adds that he felt it was a country classic. Mark Miller call--thanks Mark Miller's son Gunnar, who was a fan, and thanks Mark again. "Man, have I learned a lot from him!" Talks about golf with Mark Miller--"I can do some yelling and screaming on the golf course..."

(Lost stream right about here--sorry, ya'll. If you can hear the rest, please leave note in comments and I will reconstruct. Thanks! Winnie)

Part two of interview--American Idol experience. DJ: "Did you ever get your feelings hurt?" Bucky: "Did you watch the show?" Pause and laughter. "Um, yes...I got my feelings hurt a little." Talks about his "Simple Man" performance and the critique for "oversinging"--didn't undertstand what they mean until he watched the performance. "I killed it...I'm surprised I'm still here". Didn't watch Idol yesterday--had to go to bed and get up early today, but will probably start watching more around Top 24...

One heck of a stage performance on GAC TV special, says the DJ, "Gotta hand it to you." DJ asks if Mark gave Bucky pointers on dancing on stage. Bucky talks about dance moves. "If you want to stand there and sing, people can just listen to the radio".

After goodbyes (Bucky says he hopes to meet them someday) DJs talk about the traditional sound of the single. "Whoever is steering his career is steering him in the right direction." (The DJs seem to really like the song...)

Unfortunately, I couldn't listen to Bucky on the Young and Elder show due to mass tech problems--but I'll try to get some recaps from the lucky people who could hear it soon. Thanks and again, my apologies--Winnie

Yes and I like the way they keep saying "country music career" but enough already about grocery stores. haha BRING ON THE BUCKY! *STOMPS FEET*

  6. The grocery store riff was somethin' else...when they remodeled ours, they had a model shivering in the front entrance, handing out maps. I am going to send her to Huntsville. :D

Bucky will probably be on just before the hour ends. Just guessing! :)

Oh and yay to this Gunner boy! I wonder his age.

Okay they said he would be back a little later...how later? :O

  10. They said he'd be back later? Hmmm...

Sounds like we both lost the stream at the same time--station glitch?

Yes I think it was the station this time not your Grandpa of a computer since I never have issues with streaming. It is working again for now...hope it holds for the return of the Bucky! They said that they were going to asked him about AI6 in the next segment. I would rather then ask him about him but will take what I can get of that cute country boy accent. haha

  18. Loved the quote about always striving to improve--imagine what it's going to be like in those 20 years he says he wants! :)

Looks like I can't be in comments and listen at the same time without crashing, so I will be back and forth--sigh...

  27. I just couldn't roll out of bed lol But this sounds like the most original interview yet! Asked him some different things. Simon hurt his feelings that's it! lol Simple man comment was interesting!

That was sweet and fun but a little quick. They made fun of him for trying to high five Stevie Wonder...lol...Bucky said he hoped he did not do it but after Bucky was gone they said they thought it was him. Was it? LOL LOL Funny too that the DJ's said "Chris Young"...hahaha...they morphed Daughtry and Ace together I guess. hahaha

Bucky talked about Carrie who "slapped took off"...cute. He is so appreciative and excited about everything...adorable! Okay I am going back to bed unless someone knows about a tird interview he is doing this morning?

    ReplyDelete
  30. God I remember the slap but didn't think it was Bucky lol maybe it was I'll hunt down the video lol

    ReplyDelete

Is that all the radio bit for today or is there a third one?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Nope, I think that's all the interviewing for today. Thank you so much for the details on the second one, Anon, and have a good nap! Hope the Young and Elder interview makes it to the Y&E website...

And good morning, Kathy! I thought that"Simple Man" comment was interesting, too. Bucky really seems to take the whole "learn and constantly improve" thing very seriously. And it sure is working well for him... :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't remember a Stevie/Bucky high-five either--my "urban legend" radar is pinging. Don't have a tape here but might have a clip on the hard drive. Hmmm...

  35. Anonymous6:03 AM

Okay back to Zzzland for me. Why do they never have interviews in the afternoon or evening? :S Bucky really is just so great on these radio chit-chats though but he is cutting into my beauty sleep too much...haha. :D

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sweet dreams to you! :)

(Yep, I believe Y&E got that mixed up--so far, finding no reference to Bucky high-fiving Stevie on Google, and as much as Bucky was snarked upon in the early rounds, you know that would have been all over the net back then.

I have a vague memory of someone making a move that indicated they'd forgotten Stevie couldn't see what they were doing, but can't remember who...)

  39. I was wrong it wasnt chris

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ah, as always, the video tells the story--thanks, Kathy! :) One of the many Idol urban legends...

(Fell asleep in my chair just now! Between the late night challenges and the early morning interviews, we're all going to need some nap time today, I bet.)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I tell ya! lol I better get to playin lol in PSP or my always list is going to disown me. lol I need my Bucky time!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Bucky time is a must...the list will forgive you!

Have a good time with the PSP--I probably should do a quick post and get back to doing some work (the kind I get paid for) soon. Take care!

Someone still listening to Kix 106 up there in Memphis just emailed me the following:

Some lady just called into KIX106 and requested Bucky's song! The deejays asked her if she REALLY liked that song......and she said YES! Then they talked about how well that song did on their station the other night (I guess in one of the contest things they did). And then they played a short clip of Bucky saying to listen to KIX106 and I heard his cute Bucky chuckle.....hahaha NOW THEY'RE PLAYING BUCKY'S SONG!!!!! I turned the radio up so I can hear it better! :D

    ReplyDelete
  44. Whoa, that's great! The WDRM guys sounded like they really loved the song--I hope the KIX 106 people agree. His promo intro thingie must have been a hoot to hear... :)
