Do you miss seeing Bucky on TV? (You're not alone.) There's a possible bit of good news on the horizon--during last night's Idol Tonight show, TV Guide Channel previewed a coming half-hour roundup of previous contestants turned current performers, and Bucky's was among the faces that flashed by. We're not sure if they'll be using any new content, or even if Bucky's due for very much screen time, but it can't hurt to tune in on January 21st at 8 pm ET/7 CT and take a peek.
Edited to add : Here's a link shamelessly stolen from Kathy's excellent Team Covington blog; CMT Insider will include footage from the recent Sound and Speed event in Nashville, which featured stars from the world of NASCAR and country music--including Bucky. Will we catch a glimpse of Bucky Covington on CMT this weekend? Definitely worth a look--here are the showtimes. And be sure to stop in and enjoy Kathy's latest posts, including a gorgeous request banner by Lisa/letusjudge of Buck Wild fame and a fun link to a review of Bucky's new song by a blogging country music fan.
(We're all still patiently waiting for the big TV treat, of course--the music video for "A Different World" will be shot within the next few weeks, according to Bucky's official site. Now that'll be some footage worth waiting for.)
Meanwhile, Bucky's getting some quality air time on the radio! A quick look at the Mediabase airplay chart* tells the story--Bucky's "A Different World" was at #53 as of about 3 this morning, with new stations in Monterey and Wilkes-Barre among the many others hopping on board. (Will he be Top 50 at Mediabase very soon? Looks like that's right around the corner...)
And also on the radio front, there are so many "song challenges" for Bucky's single tonight that we'll put them all together in a radio post a little later on. While that's in the works, a quick email to country@wkml.com would be a great way to start the day--request "A Different World" now, then listen in to see how Bucky fared on WKML's "Top 5 at 6" tonight at 6 ET.
Stay tuned--back with more news soon!
*Please note--the link now goes to the Mediabase country chart that includes the year of a song's release; that's the chart newly linked on the sidebar, as well. The rankings may be slightly different than those on the previously linked Mediabase chart--I'm not sure why, either. Apologies for any confusion. More Mediabase info coming shortly!--Winnie
lol I just posted a headline saying Bucky is a t 55 then came here and was like o crap! lol Had to go roll it to 53! But that's a good thing lol
ReplyDeleteHee! Sorry about that! A friend just passed that chart along this morning--not sure why Mediabase has so many options, but at least that's moving Bucky's single in a positive direction! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I like this Mediabase chart showing Bucky #53 so I have put this link in my favorites instead of the one showing #55!! .Thanks for the new chart!! Like that addition of year it was released.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to update ya on the NightFlight DogFight on Eagle 97.3(www.eagle97.com), Bunny confirmed that he did win last night. He will be up against someone new tonite. 9:15pm (online streaming)
ReplyDeleteI like the other Mediabase chart much better. This chart doesn't show all the stations playing Bucky's song when you click on his song. Also, it doesn't show all the spins he is getting. It makes it look like he is only getting 97 spins, when the other chart show he is getting 162 spins.Perhaps you could link to both charts?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, someone at Pulse posted the following from Billboard.biz. Looks like Bucky is debuting on the Hot Country Songs chart:
Former "American Idol" contestant Bucky Covington debuts at No. 57 with "A Different World." Lyric Street will release his debut album April 17.
Hi, Anon--even as we speak, I'm inside the template working on putting links to both Mediabase charts in the sidebar--looks like each one weighs things a little differently. The more info, the merrier.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the info from Pulse on the Hot Country Songs chart! I appreciate the heads-up--Bucky's lookin' good.
Updates on the front page shortly...
Ah that explains it lol hey and I shamelessly steal links form you all the time! We'll just be partners in crime lol
ReplyDeleteI contacted Geof at 96.9, WKKT in Charlotte about Bucky's interview last week. He has put it up on his webpage.

Hello, BuckyFaninMI, and thank you so much! I am working on a radio post and will have that link added asap.
ReplyDeleteAnd Kathy, I am giggling about us being partners in crime...we look so innocent... :)

ReplyDeleteFrom Billboard.Biz, from something called Progress Reports:
After two weeks in the runner-up slot on Hot Country Songs, Rodney Atkins' "Watching You" steps 2-1 to become his second trip to the summit. He first notched No. 1 ink when "If You're Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows)" reigned for four weeks starting with the chart dated Aug. 12, 2006. Following a 43-week chart run, that single finished as Billboard's No. 1 Country Song of the Year. Atkins' new single reaches No. 1 in its 18th week, much quicker than the 30 weeks "Hell" needed ... Former "American Idol" contestant Bucky Covington debuts at No. 57 with "A Different World." Lyric Street will release his debut album April 17.
