A radio reminder right up top, today--the last WKML "Top 5 at 6" countdown of the week happens tonight at 6 ET, and Bucky Covington's "A Different World" sounded very nice at Number One yesterday. We love a winning streak! You can send a quick email to country@wkml.com to request Bucky--then be sure to listen at home or online at WKML.com for tonight's results.
Another reminder--if you haven't already signed up for your local country station's "loyal listener club" (or whatever the mailing list happens to be called), hop in and join--it's a wonderful way to get a jump on what's happening when, and to find out which times and shows might be the best for a request. For example, my usually very stodgy, heavy on the oldies local country station just sent me a heads-up that they're doing a "Future of Country Music" weekend, starting tonight. Sounds like a winning concept to me--and I know just the artist who'll make their weekend even more exciting...
The Yes.com list (now available from that handy-dandy button on the sidebar) is another fantastic tool--not only can you find out if "A Different World" is on the radio at the moment, you can also listen in, if the station offers streaming. It's been fun to hear different stations across the country as they spin Bucky's single--and to give it a thumbs-up, too. Listening to the stream is highly recommended; occasionally, there's a contest or interview in progress. One lucky Bucky Covington fan won a sweet prize from a station miles away from her home last night! Radio stations are generally extremely pleased to have a healthy online audience, so hop in the stream and join the fun.
And finally---did you know that Bucky Covington is performing at the Grand Ole Opry in March? (Okay, so I'm a little bit pleased and proud and incredibly excited about that news. Bucky's at the Opry! I'll calm down, now...) As you might imagine, there's a lot of buzz and a lot of travel planning going on; this thread at the Fox boards is growing by the minute. Kathy's latest post at Team Covington has some great background information on bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley, who'll be performing on the same bill. Mr. Stanley is not only a pivotal figure at the Opry House, he's also a current hitmaker; his duet with Josh Turner, "Me and God", is climbing the charts as we speak. This should be a show to remember forever--you can get your ticket at the Opry site, or through Ticketmaster.com. I'll see you there!
More very soon...

"The Golden Oak Ranch: Disney's Western Frontier," an article in a 1983 Disney Newsreel, "several houses and barns, a lake with a covered bridge, sprawling meadows, majestic oak trees, creeks, and water falls" make it "a virtual dreamland for almost any outdoor filming need." The ranch is one of the few remaining movie ranches, serving the cinematic needs both of Disney Studios and its competitors.
ReplyDeleteThe Bucky would look cool in this shot:

That's the "Ponderosa" from Bonanza! (Trivia nerd alert.) Blogger comments let you use the "a href" tag (unfortunately, spammers use it more than real commenters) so I'll fix that for ya...

ReplyDeleteYay DJ Larry for giving us the details. I e-mailed and asked him if he knew any scoop on the video/album cover shoot this morning when I voted for "Different World" for the countdown...don't know if he was already planning on talking about it or not but either way...I got my answer to my question and that is cool! :D
ReplyDeleteDJ Larry is fantastic! He has been so kind to all of us...and what a cool idea to ask him about it. :)
