A note about Sirius

(Couldn't resist posting another of Blu's great photos from the Weldon GAC concert--click image to view her beautiful Fokti album. Thanks again, Blu!)

Yesterday's New Country programming was a special event, "Buzz Cuts for Christmas", in which four new songs were played per hour. The usual "buzz cut" quota per hour is about two, and so far today, "Different World" hasn't been one of them, but never fear--Bucky's great tune has more than likely created a good "buzz" among all those new subscribers, and the song is very likely to pop up again soon, and more often in the days and weeks to come.

Also, New Country has a "Beyond the Buzz" program on Saturday nights (9 p.m. Eastern) devoted to new Nashville music and emerging artists, and chances are extremely good that "Different World" will be a part of this Saturday's fare. (Meanwhile, we've enjoyed Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and Josh Gracin today--proof that country radio really does embrace talented artists from That Certain Show.)

If you're ever curious as to what New Country has been playing, there's an unofficial, automatically updated playlist at It's On Sirius--a great way to avoid the whole "calling for a song they just played" awkwardness. And as always (always!), keep request etiquette in mind--one email and/or phone request per person, per day is supportive without being spam-like. And please forgive the next bit--I feel silly saying this because the chances of it needing to be said are about zero, but just for the record--always keep a positive, friendly tone when communicating with the media. (It shows faith in the song and in Bucky to assume that programmers want to play it! Believe me, they don't want to miss out on a hit, either. They're on our side.)

Finally, the New Country station has its own (fan-run, we think) MySpace...which, along with the official page, might be a fun way to keep up with what's happening as "Different World" moves from brand-new Buzz Cut to bonafide hit.

More soon!
