A truly interesting Q&A from the Fayetteville Observer starts off this Tuesday morning on a high note--it's a sweet glimpse into Bucky's current (very good) life, from the man himself. And it sure looks like Mrs. Covington's Christmas present was a hit!
And here's a fun link from the same part of the world-- a kind MySpace blogger ran into a familiar face yesterday while working at Wilson's Leather in Fayetteville. (The photos are definitely spontaneous, but they're cute--and does Rocky look like he's having a good time or what?)
Yesterday's signing buzz (and Bucky's mention of the "big, very big" label in the Observer article linked above) is stil causing a stir this morning--Lisa/letusjudge has an excellent news summary posted on her blog at the HappyBirthdayCovingtons MySpace, and of course, the label thread at the Fox boards is still chugging along nicely.
When will we know specifics? It's hard to say, although soon is an excellent guess--Bucky's single, "Different World" will most likely be released to country radio in January or so, and the usual "we're proud to have this new talent on board" announcement/press release by the label brass should be hitting the Associated Press, the trade papers (Variety, Billboard, and the like) and the country music media well in advance of the single's release. The standard "performer with men in suits in an office" cheesy label signing photo is optional these days--but it sure would be fun.
What we do know for sure as of this hour is that Bucky Covington, his family, and his friends and fans have a whole lot to smile about, and to be proud of, this morning. Mix together a big dose of natural talent, lots of hard work, focus and determination, wonderful support from family and friends, discerning and wise professional ears, and a satisfied audience with redial buttons--and perhaps a touch of musical magic--and voila.
Like many of the posters on that fun label signing thread, I find it impossible to resist a little tiny "told ya so!"; but Bucky's official bio has the perfect words to fit the day as we celebrate his journey from there to here--especially if you're among the many who've been inspired by his adventure to start an adventure of your own.
And what has he learned to share with others who have dreams they hope can come true? "If you want to do it," Covington concludes, "then get out there and do it."
Sounds like a plan, y'all.
More soon!
Loved this article. He has a log cabin! I have always wanted to live in a log cabin! As for the deer, we live in the suburbs but there are close woods so I do get them wandering around occasionally. And one ornery squirrel that plants the corn I feed him everywhere so you wouldn't believe where we find stalks growing lol I am so happy this is all working out for him. I bet Crystal was excited by her gift!! I have been trying to guess the label. Still clueless lol But since Shawn said an American Idol would be a feather in their cap I assume the label has no signed idol. So BNA is out- Carrie and Kellie. I had been bouncing between Curb and Mercury but Curb has Kim Locke. But Shawn may not know that she is kinda under the radar. Mercury is a big label. The waiting is killing me lol
ReplyDeleteI am gonna throw my guess into the hat this morning. All along my thoughts were CURB, which would be a GREAT label. Blue County is also under the CURB name.
ReplyDeleteI think those are some excellent guesses! :) Hope we know for sure very soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's so good to know how beautifully things are going for the Covingtons! That house sounds lovely, doesn't it?
Yes Curb is my 2nd guess too. I always thought it was that one... but the no idol in their stable threw me cause they have one. Like I said though she isn't well known so maybe Shawn didn't realize. Yes Blue County is Curb and someone on the tour was Mercury which got me thinking that. Can't remember but I think it was Julie Roberts. I will be surprised if it isn't one or the other.
ReplyDeleteEither would be excellent--a lot of support and promo muscle there.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's true that the very talented Kim Locke might have slipped his mind. Hmmmm...fun speculating on this, isn't it? Can't wait to unwrap that CD and put the good earphones on...
Wonder when we can start talking about the "Different World" video? :)
And lol about the ornery squirrel--that is too funny! I am imagining the random corn stalks...hee!
ReplyDeleteI live in a suburban area that borders a semi-rural patch--we don't get deer too close to home, but a mile away, they're pretty common. What we do have--and this is something the tourist sites won't tell you about the Great Lakes--are skunks.
I hae always loved the idea of a log cabin, too--what a wonderful retreat for the Covingtons!
Based on what I've heard, I'm leaning away from Curb and towards the possibility that it's Mercury myself. Or, something in the UMG umbrella.
ReplyDeleteUMG would be great, too. (Remember Bucky's "three picture deal" with Universal on Leno? :) I'm happy that he's with a substantial label, whichever one it turns out to be --love the idea of a good solid promo budget and the kind of support the majors can provide.
