Dashing through the day...

Bucky Covington in a pensive moment onstage in Chattanooga; photo by the very talented Honeygirl.Bucky Covington in a pensive moment onstage in Chattanooga; photo by the very talented Honeygirl. You can enjoy all her great shots from the GAC tour at her Flickr photoset.

(Edited to add another reason to thank Honeygirl; remember her splendid "Suspicious Minds" gift from Chattanooga? She's just added the dramatic finish today. Yesterday, there was a bit of buzz that Bucky's distinctive take on this classic--complete with fiddle--should be a bonus track on his new CD. Watch this, and listen for that buzz to grow louder. Thanks again, Honeygirl!)

With no conference call from tonight's private Roanoke Rapids GAC concert, it's safe to say the holiday lull (or shall we just call it a "holiday break") has almost begun. However, we do have one more sweet recap to look forward to; Blu and her family will be among the World Vision volunteers tonight, so stay tuned for a look into the final show of a beautiful tour.

While things slow down for the season, there are still a few street team-style moves we can make in anticipation of Bucky's label announcement (and the eventual promo blitz for his upcoming CD) in a few weeks:

Bucky Covington's new official site isn't quite the first thing that comes up when you type "Bucky Covington" into Google or Yahoo--yet. The good news, though, is that you can help change that, simply by typing "Bucky Covington" into your favorite search engine, continuing to page through the results until the link to his official site comes up (currently it's on page 7 or so) and clicking it. That's it! It's important to get the official site up front--casual fans will want an authorized stop where they can catch up on the basics about this talented new guy they saw on GAC or CMT, or heard on the radio. (Thanks, dbrsoch, for the info--there's a thread happening here, as well.)

Kathy over at Team Covington has a gorgeous "Different World" banner to share (and a great post to go with it, too.) Hope she doesn't mind me snagging this beauty for myself! It's compressed a bit here to fit into the blog's margins; click image to view it in glorious actual size:

Thanks, Kathy! You can check out more of her fantastic graphics at her beautiful Bucky blog, Team Covington.

Now that we know "Different World" is the first single, we can get the word out in lots of fun ways--banners, sig files, good old face-to-face conversation. (And if your online friends are YouTube savvy, they'll even get a chance to enjoy a sneak preview of sorts here.) It's a joy to turn your buddies on to some fantastic new music--and it'll be even more of a joy when they (and we!) hear it on the radio for the very first time...

Finally, Tuesday's excellent Fayetteville Observer article on Bucky brings up an interesting point--Bucky's transition from "eighth-place Idol finalist" to well-regarded up-and-coming country music performer has been graceful, steady, and largely under the radar. (The Observer's writer graciously offered Bucky an apology for a previous Idol-themed story which described his path back then as "stalled"; future articles on Bucky will probably have a similar preface.) The lovely "Different World" is more than just a great song, sung beautifully; it's a solid step out of his "Idol" image and into a very bright, musically-substantial future.

Once again, I've gotta say it--we have a lot to look forward to.

News post next--see you later today!

  3. Hee...you are so not alone in the "dork" category. Heck, I've been known to cry at Hallmark cards on occasion! I can only imagine what'll be like to be sitting in the car with the radio up loud, hearing the DJ say "and now, here's Bucky Covington..."

    Sigh. :)

  5. That hair flip...you know, there are just certain kinds of cool that a performer just has to be born with. And he sure is cool up there, even with a flu bug.

(I am starting that '07 Covington Tour Travel Fund now. Like so many have said, we all need to meet up for his first big Nashville show.)

It will be a great show and Rocky is very different than Bucky but in a very good way :) They are both amazing on stage :)

  10. Kathy, they should just make it an option at the bank. Covington travel funds for all! :) They're gonna be busy in '07--and I couldn't be happier about that.

Awwww, how sweet are the E-trainers? That was nice...Bucky and E will both be all over the radio this coming year.

And Debbie, I've heard that Rocky's a more classic-rock performer, is that pretty much the case? It's cool that he and Bucky have their own distinctive stage styles, although it's pretty clear they have a lot of mutual fans, as well. Best of both worlds!

Honeygirl is my American Idol. I've watched those videos many more times than I would dare to admit in front of family, friends or psychiatric professionals

Even when Rocky sings the same songs as Bucky they are very very different. It is very hard to describe, but if you think Bucky is sexy at all on stage (and I do but I also think he is hmm playful I guess). Rocky however totally drips sex appeal with every move on stage. Hmm that is all I will say on a public blog lol, but he is a real real treat to watch him perform ;) and I can't recommend going to see him enough. WELL worth the trip :)

Try your best to make it and trust me you won't be disappointed :) Just as charming as Bucky, just as good looking (lol ;) ) and he will totally win you over by the time the first set ends :D

Have you listened to his music on his site yet? http://www.rockycovington.com/music.html
