Back to the real world...

Bucky singing Wave on Wave during the Idol semifinals.(By request, two extremely retro Idol screencaps. Enjoy!)

The relatives have all been hugged, the leftovers are somewhat depleted, the after Thanksgiving "back to work" mood is in the air...and with any luck, there'll be some news from Bucky to keep us all a-buzz. Hope there's a Big Announcement (and maybe some new photos) in the works upon his return to Nashville in a little while.

In the meantime, Bucky's interview with Mrs. Jones is right around the corner--the deadline for your questions is Monday the 27th, so if you want to sneak one in under the wire, better head there now! There's a cute sneak preview of sorts on her "Fast Lane" page; enjoy reading what some devoted Bucky fans had to say about him there. (Nice photo, too...)

Speaking of photos and news and such, we're all looking forward to the day when Bucky's official site makes its debut--and from what he had to say during the WRKO interview a week or so back, it should be on its way relatively soon. (Patience, as always, will be a virtue...) Emerging artists like Bucky are really helped by a central place where the casual fans (who might hear him on the radio and have a "that song is great; who is that guy?" revelation) as well as devoted supporters (that'd be us) can gather and find out what's what. It's reassuring to know that Bucky's official site is in the process of being put together--especially since official sites are much, much cooler than they were in days gone by.

Posting this especially for Lilly, the Stevie Wonder night hair fan. Thanks for the request!Which leads right into my next question--in your opinion, what would make Bucky Covington's official site the best destination ever? I've often posted about what I'd like (a message board, song clips, a news column, a gallery, tour info...) but I'd love to hear from you. What would keep you coming back for more? Leave a note in comments and speak your mind.

Back later with more news. (I hope there is more news...) Have a sweet Monday!

    Hi Winnie,
Great topic - I think it would be great if there
was a Blog section for Bucky to make entries
into - as he liked , or once a month, or
however it worked with his schedule. It would
be wonderful to hear in his own words, without
the filter of a journalist, even, how his
projects are going, how he feels about his
journey as it goes along, or any random
    observations he feels like sharing.
I would LOVE that, and I assume that
most of his fans would check in regularly to
    read that!!

Ive read Blogs by other musicians on their
sites about how the recording is going, or
from on the road on their lap-top, and its
really fun , not to mention, generous of them.

Are you out there, Bucky?? What do you think??
We know youre super busy, but a little
Blog or a pop-in to the message boards
would make all of us Bucky-lovers jump
    for joy!!
I'm sure the new Official site will be great
    whatever they decide, though.

    thanks Winnie!

  2. Hi there, Chan!

I think a blog by Bucky is a fantastic idea--it would definitely be cool to hear his personal thoughts on the music, the road, the experience of starting his recording career--anything. Great idea, and I hope that actually happens--it'd probably be the most popular feature on the site. (With his sense of humor, I bet it'd be a joy to read--he's witty and fun in radio inteviews, and I bet that would translate well to a blog or "letter from Bucky".)

You're right--no matter what shape Bucky's official shape takes, we'll all be happy to see it...

    Take care and thanks, Chan!

Hi neighbor! :-) Here is what I wanna see.......

    1. A messageboard. Very important!
    2. I think Chan's blog idea is excellent.
    3. Street team stuff. Let us know how we can support Bucky without being pests. Radio tips and hints.
    4. A fan club aimed at grownups mostly. Fun but not too cutesy. But some kids items since the little Bucky fans are out there.
    5. TOUR DATES. Have not seen Bucky live YET and am still kicking my own butt about that. Need to know if he's playing and where.
    6. I saw on the Sawyer Brown site they have a meet and greet lottery. Think we could get that? Bucky and Rocky get along with the fans and meet and greets would probably be doable with min. craziness.
    7. I like wallpapers and graphics.
    8. Lots of upadtes! It needs to look fresh and exciting with new news all the time if possible. He is an up and coming artist so I'm sure there will be much to write about.

That is all I can think of now!! I will probably hang out there when it is going and I am VERY happy to hear it is opening soon. See you in the hallway. :-)

  4. Dina, hi! I have so corrupted you...mwahahahaha. Welcome to the Covington fan circle! Resistance is futile. You will purchase a straw cowgirl hat and come along this summer...hee.

Seriously, great ideas, Chan and Dina. I think an interesting thing about Bucky's fans is that both his early audience from back home in Rockingham and his new fanbase who "met" him through American Idol are both pretty active online. The internet grapevine really works well.

And even on short notice, the out-of-town fans and the local fans have turned out in big numbers to the local shows; I imagine there will be a similar trend when he's touring--getting the confirmed, official word out online will keep the venues full.

So the official site will definitely be a major resource, especially now that a new season is just around the corner. (I'll miss lurking at the Fox boards, but the idea of an official Covington forum has a lot of appeal--no disappearing board syndrome or "season" to worry about there.)

And, um--Dina? Didn't you mention that you thought an official "Covington's Body Shop" T-shirt would be cool? Don't be shy, lady! :D
