Quick lull-tastic update, 10/8

Tonight's entry in the "Bucky Covington CD Cover Un-Contest" is the first of two very cool variations on a great theme--Boo uses lfesvr's wistful closeup concert photo of Bucky and keeps things simple and classic, with the purplish colors from the jumbotron reflected in the borders and text. A casual script font finishes things off nicely, and the title is intriguing--"The Heart Wins" sounds like the first line of a new song we'd love to hear Bucky sing again and again. Thanks, Boo!

(I'd hoped to post two covers tonight, but we got back into town far too late to post twice today. Look for the next beautiful entry early tomorrow morning...)

If you, like me, came in late to this season of Idol and/or couldn't tape, Tivo or DVR the show (sadly, I'm in both categories), the Fox boards are the place to be tonight. This incredibly helpful thread lists the highlights of Bucky's journey on Idol, from his audition (not shown, but featured in later ads) to the semifinals, with more to follow. (Talk about bringing back memories. Anyone else remember Bucky breaking the suspense during one elimination round by answering Ryan Seacrest's silly "do you want me to tell you the results" question with an endearing "If you wouldn't mind"? Good times...)

While we're waiting for next weekend's big show, here's a random sampling of fun links to make the days go faster:

Live365.com has an all Idol, all the time station available for your online streaming pleasure; Idol Waves features tracks by Idols past and present, including some hard to find songs you may never hear anywhere else. The official IdolWaves.com site has a request page, a news blog and more.

Looking for yet another Bucky Covington Live Journal icon? Here's an enormous page of American Idol icons, including several new-to-us creations.

And who didn't love the finale? The Idol Zone has a lovely (and large) set of big, big images from the post-show red carpet interviews.

If you're looking to the future, here's a date to mark on your calendar if you'll be in the Nashville/Hendersonville area--Sawyer Brown, the Charlie Daniels Band, Joe Nichols and many others will be performing at the Ryman Auditorium to benefit Christmas for Kids on Monday, November 20th.

(Yeah, I know. There really isn't much to write about at the moment, but by this time next week, we'll have a lot to talk about. I'll keep looking for news while we're waiting--and if you come across any, please feel free to write and share it!)

More soon...

  2. Aww, thanks! But really, the images have been so beautiful that it makes it easy. Sometimes a picture paints a thousand words--and I think the thousand words in our case can be summed up in four. "We want Bucky's CD!" :)

Wow, do I love the photo on this latest
    entry!!
Thanks for keeping the momentum going , when there really isnt too much to report!
BTW, can you see the clips on the Fox site,
of Bucky's exit interview, and Jaded, etc?
I hope so! Especially his intoductory interview is
so sweet and endearing. If not, you must get
that neighbor's DSL connection up again!
Just seeing Bucky's face, and getting a sense of
    his sweetness, humour and super-beautiful
    energy makes my day better!

    take care, Chan

  4. Hi, Chan!

Isn't that a great photo and a sweet cover? Both by fans--Bucky has some very creative supporters out here...

And thank you for the recommendation of those Fox clips--I will definitely check them out when I am on a better computer. They sound like so much fun!

Glad he's getting some rest (it really was a grueling tour schedule), but I'm so happy he'll be back on stage sharing that smile and that super-beautiful energy this coming weekend--wish more of us could see the show. It'll be fantastic when he tours again!
