Bucky's memorable "Best I Ever Had" performance was the inspiration for this straightforward, sunset-toned cover by Kasper. It's the latest entry in our "Bucky Covington CD Cover Un-Contest", and it's a beauty--desert shades on white combined with Bucky's brown hat and his direct gaze into the camera make for an unmistakenly Western image. (And another great title, too--"The Road Ahead" looks like it's leading somewhere good, doesn't it?) Thanks, Kasper!
Hey, everybody's doing it. Over at MJ's, the comments section is filled with witty posts about Elvis night and Taylor's Ford commercial. At Bucky's Fox board (yes, even as the plans for this weekend's musical events at Hugo's and at Erin's Victory Dance are being happily worked out), there's a thread about it, too. And of course, at IDF, the boards are full of evidence, evidence that suggests one thing...
People are full of nostalgia for this season of American Idol--the TV show.
I know, I know--I'm a little surprised, too. Most of the time, I'm right on the front lines of the "Idol is over, now these singers can be who they really are!" movement. But the days are getting shorter, and for those who were able to tape or DVR the show, the cozy nights in front of the telly with hearts pounding in sympathethic support for our favorites are a sweet memory. Yes, now we know how it all turned out--but a lot of people seem to be revisiting those tapes and discs this week.
If you're one of them--or if you're like me, tapeless but with quite a few downloaded clips at hand--it'd be fun to know the answers to these silly but fun questions, and if they've changed since so much time has passed. Ready?
- When did you know for sure you'd be rooting for Bucky? What performance made you pick up the phone for the first time?
- What was your favorite "unintended humor" moment?
- Which night(s) did you think the judges really appreciated Bucky?
- What was your favorite outfit and/or look for Bucky during the show? (I think there'll be a general consensus about which night the stylists went a bit nuts, so I won't ask the flipside question...)
- What song(s) do you really wish Bucky could have sung during the theme nights?
- If Bucky had gotten a duet for the finale (how cool would that have been?) who would you have chosen to be his singing partner?
OKAY JUST TAKING A STAB AT YOUR QUESTIONS BUCKYMANIA:
ReplyDeleteWhen did you know for sure you'd be rooting for Bucky?
"Wave on Wave"
What performance made you pick up the phone for the first time?
"Wave on Wave"
What was your favorite "unintended humor" moment?
When Bucky realized the double meaning of him talking about jumpin' up behind Freddie Mercury.
Which night(s) did you think the judges really appreciated Bucky?
Bucky was never appreciated enough but I guess they were all into "Superstition"
What was your favorite outfit and/or look for Bucky during the show?
I loved the country night outfit...such a cute cowboy...but then again he looked hot in the denim shirt and black leather jacket on Queen night too.
What song(s) do you really wish Bucky could have sung during the theme nights?
"Some Girls Do"
Something by Elvis since Bucky is a fan.
If Bucky had gotten a duet for the finale who would you have chosen to be his singing partner?
Pink
Hee! Thanks for having a go at it! :)
ReplyDeleteHere are my answers:
When did you know for sure you'd be rooting for Bucky?
"Thunder Rolls", for sure.
What performance made you pick up the phone for the first time?
"Wave on Wave". That was a fantastic rendition (I already liked the song, too--that helps.)
What was your favorite "unintended humor" moment?
Gotta be the "Any Man of Mine" singout, when Bucky perhaps didn't realize the camera caught him singing along, and then he just...stopped. (But that Queen night line was too funny.)
Which night(s) did you think the judges really appreciated Bucky?
Gotta think on that one. "Superstition" definitely surprised them in a good way, and oddly enough, I think Simon actually liked "Best I Ever Had" a bit more than he let on--and Paula might have, too.
What was your favorite outfit and/or look for Bucky during the show?
The stylists outdid themselves on Country night--that whole ensemble just worked so well with the song. But Queen night took the cake--as Rocky said, the hair was bangin' and the black leather jacket and jeans are rocker-classic. I actually liked the Stevie Wonder night look better than the stylists' choices for 50's night.
What song(s) do you really wish Bucky could have sung during the theme nights?
Don't get me started! We'd be here all night. :)
If Bucky had gotten a duet for the finale who would you have chosen to be his singing partner?
Gotta think about that one too, although I like the Pink/Bucky duet idea. Hmmm...

I was ready to dial in the middle of Thunder rolls!

When Ryan was giving the boys results and he asked Bucky if he wanted to hear them.. Bucky said "if you wouldn't mind" .. LOL!
Which night(s) did you think the judges really appreciated Bucky?
Superstition
What was your favorite outfit and/or look for Bucky during the show? (I think there'll be a general consensus about which night the stylists went a bit nuts, so I won't ask the flipside question...)
The leather jacket with the blue denim underneath ... *thud!*

Only God knows why, Kid Rock
If Bucky had gotten a duet for the finale (how cool would that have been?) who would you have chosen to be his singing partner?
Me! ;)
Oh yea, I can't sing. Ok.. Faith Hill then. But, if you meant one of the Idol girls... Lisa, because her voice blew me away at the concert!
