I'm literally running out the door, but before I do, an interesting video link just popped up at TWoP--"Behind the Scenes on the Idol Tour" from the middle of July on a Fox New York affiliate station's website, with interviews by none other than Kevin Covais. I can't see it with my old Win98 PC...was Bucky one of the lucky interviewees? Please leave a comment and let me know...I'm a curious pussycat. (Heh.)
See you tonight!
HI,
ReplyDeleteYes Bucky gets interviewed! Its brief but cute,
BUcky asks Kevin if Kevin is still a babe
magnet, too.
The piece is short, but really sweet. He
talks to Kellie, Paris, Lisa, and Ace, also.
I hope you get to see it!
Go over to a friend's house to see it, maybe!
Chan
Hi Winnie,
ReplyDeleteBucky was featured and was cute as all get out. Kevin referred to him as the 7th place finisher and Bucky thanked him for the compliment. Then Bucky played interveiwer and asked Kevin if he was still the Idol sex symbol. Got Kevin a little flustered.
I am counting the days to the big announcemnt. Some days I let all the bad press about Bucky's "weak voice" , "lack of stage presence" and "hideous dance moves" sow seeds of doubt in my unabated devotion to Bucky. Am I crazy? Did I let that that purty hair and sweet tea personality blind me to his flaws as a performer? And then I watch some of the videos I've amassed since February and I tell myself to get a grip and visit Buckymania for a reality check. I love this blog.
Way cute! Loved when Paris jumped on Kevin! Too cute! As for Bucky...well some of the best artists in Country started out to harsh reviews from the critics.
ReplyDeleteHi (I watch the vidio with no sound.Still nice to see Bucky.I loved him in the back ground when Paris came over to Keven .He was back there pointing and smiling like he got a kick out of paris being so happy to see keven.I am going to join the street team.I want to help Bucky and his wife get some where. They just have nice writen all over them. Yes another Bucky fan from Ohio Becky
ReplyDeleteAwwwww--now I really want to see this! Sigh...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chan! Your idea is very smart, indeed--maybe I'll pop into my neighbor's place for a visit Friday and "check my email" while I'm there... :) Thank you for the recap, it's much appreciated!
Carol, I totally understand how you feel about awful reviews...but I have to confess something which might (might!) make you feel better, if I'm any indicator of "averageness". I became a Bucky fan before I even saw him perform--the night he sang "Thunder Rolls", I had my head buried in paperwork while he sang. Just listening to him, there was a certain something about his voice...authenticity? Honesty? Can't really say--all I knew is that I wanted to hear him again, preferably on a well-produced CD, and that was that. (Of course, after the song was over and the judges began their bit, I finally looked at the telly, and well...um, I didn't do paperwork the next week.)
Basically, all the things that the reviewers gripe about--the dancing, the stage presence--are a) fine with me as-is (he seems to be charming the heck out of people up there, tall-guy-dancing and all) and b) subject to change and growth (and I really do think he has grown as a stage performer--honestly, he's worked hard and taken good advice, and it shows.)
I just feel Bucky's ability to convey intense emotion with that raw and lovely, very Southern voice--humor, heartbreak, you-name-it--is something that can't be faked or taught. A singer either has that or he or she doesn't--and he has it. All the rest of the performance details can and will be finessed--maybe not enough to please the Idol-tour critics this go-'round, but enough to assure him a fine, fine career if he wants it. (And the purty hair and sunny sweet-tea personality sure don't hurt...)
And Kathy, you've definitely got a point, there! There are a lot of current legends who got no respect when they first hit the public eye. (And is it just me, or did anyone else think Paris and Kevin were adorable together during the first few finals shows? The teen-bonding among the youngest singers was so cute...
(I know I sound like a doting great-grandmother, but I'm not quite mature enough to pull it off just yet. They'd probably so roll their eyes at me.)
Hi there, Becky! I agree, Mr. and Mrs. Covington really do have that "nice couple from the neighborhood" vibe about them--it's good to see hardworking real people get a chance like this, and good for us that we get an opportunity to enjoy a beautiful voice we might otherwise have missed. I'm looking forward to joining the street team as well.
The first time I heard Bucky sing ,I was doing dishes.I heard somthing so charming and pure in his voice .I was hooked and Became a Bucky backer. Weird how things in life grab you when not even looking.Kinda happen like that when I ment my husband too . who knew i would be a fangirl Becky P.S. happy 6 months anniv.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky! I'm hoping the next six months will be even busier, with sn announcement and a new CD and such... :)
