Edited to add: Get over to MJ's now for a link to some serious "Drift Away" goodness. Wow, y'all...just wow.
Full post coming later today--right now, the Boston Globe's latest article about the Idol tour contains a brief review of last night's Worcester show, along with a great quote from Bucky:
Asked about being on tour and away from the competitive pressures of the show, members of the Idols troupe seemed nearly as enraptured as their fans were.
"I feel free, man," Young said during an abbreviated session with reporters. "I don't have to worry about Simon, Paula [Abdul] , or Randy [Jackson] criticizing my performance. Now I'm performing for the people who gave me this chance."
"The pressure's off," Covington agreed, "except now we're looking for careers."How is it to go from relative unknown to touring pop star? Covington laughed. "It's not that we were kind of unknown before," he said. "We were completely unknown. Actually, there's still a lot of 'Bucky who?' out there."
There's also an interesting comparison of the Worcester and Manchester shows posted at the Fox boards, and a possible Rocky Covington sighting mentioned in this recap by a lucky Elliott Yamin fan at E-Train Station. Finally, MJ was on the scene last night; you can catch her recaps (and some nice extras) at the Big Blog. Be sure to check the comments section there for more info from concertgoers--looks like Bucky was very well received in Worcester, with "Drift Away" inspiring a nice mass singalong.
See you later today!
